I think not supporting a company you don't like is a perfectly legitimate reason. It doesn't make you the South Park WoW-nerd to not want to give money to a company you dislike. As we've seen with XB1, speaking with your dollars is really the ONLY way to make a point.
Yes, but the reasoning behind the dislike can vary. This is why the "Worst Company in America" awards are bullshit.

True, but not buying products from a company doesn't mean you voted for them in that poll. I don't buy Chick-Fil-A because I don't support them, but I'm not about to go and report them to the BBB as an affront to business.

I'm not even referring to their business practices-- someone could really just take issue with their games and how they make them now. I could see that being a totally viable reason.

It's a good game. It's better with friends. You could do a lot worse with a beat-em-up. Also the translation is hilariously goofy.

This is a different enough topic to warrant keeping it. Are we supposed to move All VGM discussion to the random thread? This is a more specific conversation. Appreciate the effort to keep things clean, but the two threads are for different thing s.

I fucking love HyperDuck SoundWorks. Dust AET and Rain-Slick 4 are both brilliant soundtracks and ou can buy both on their loudr page! I'd link but doing that on my phone is a pain.

Man, it sure would be great if a super cool music podcast got to interview those crazy Ducks about their amazing music.

Music from Tiny and Big: Grandpa's Leftovers is pretty awesome. Some might c all it hipster, but I'd call them shut up

my only gripe with phase 3 was the difficulty on a few quests. very maat'esque with little room for error. except that we are talking about low level content here. the one with the chocobo egg was obviously trying to teach you something. but the one with the gargoyle and the masked mage was infuriating. made more so by the fact its a 2 part battle.

If your using the armory system and setting the right abilities (like Protect and Cure) these fights aren't hard at all. As long as your letting the main NPC beat on the boss and you focus on the adds, its pretty simple. For the gargoyle/mage fight, you have to focus and kill the Gargoyle first because he has way less HP, but does much more damage. Also, you have to pay attention to his TP moves, and the mage's spells. The difficulty is appreciated, because as you've said, each fight is trying to teach you something. I think it's refreshing to actually have to learn strategy for fights instead of the 99% faceroll content in MMOs these days. Yes, if you just run in guns blazing, you will get your ass handed to you, but if you follow some pretty basic rules (don't stand in the big glowy circle thingy) they're not that challenging.

ACtually, I agree. This is a big reason why I dont' enjoy most MMOs these days. It's all designed to be so damn easy that no one gets frustrated and quits. It was one of GW2's biggest faults (that and the whole "your bread and butter skills for the rest of the game are unlocked after two hours"), if you ask me. You could play that game PvE half asleep because of how streamlined everything was. Generally I'm a challenge-lover anyway, though, but I haven't found anything too difficult yet, but I do like that I have to actually pay attention, like with managing the thaumaturge's aether charges.

I'm sure we'll get him on soon to talk about it. :)

I'm legitimately sitting here going "man, I'd like to play some FFXIV." I stand 100% corrected by S-E. I'm pretty sure I wrote in this very thread a few months ago that there was almost no way they could get me interested in playing this game

Your words do not fail you-- that's very helpful! We've discussed this a lot between ourselves, so it's helpful to hear what you listeners think. Generally, I cut all songs down to one loop, but with longer tracks I think it WILL be good to let them breathe. I'm going to be editing our new episode tonight and tomorrow, so I'll keep your suggestions in mind. WE WILL MAKE THIS THE GREATEST MUSIC SHOW EVER.

And I think you're right on the money about the length-- if we were a more compact format, I'd hesitate, but since we're already going for the 'big episodes' duration, I think it IS good to give the music enough room to breathe.

So apparently they're now even going back and adding a rechargeable battery to the XB1 controller.

I have a feeling by the time this thing comes out, they'll just be saying "Fuck it, you guys want a PS4? We'll just put some PS4's in our Xbox One packaging."

I don't see why there's anything wrong with adding a rechargeable battery though. That's a good idea. There are some things I don't mind them copying.

I beat it on Steam a couple of times with a buddy. I'll have a review up soon. It's fun!

I'm confident that this will be the first MMO I play and enjoy since LOTRO.

Would the story make sense if I never played the original?

It makes plenty of sense to me, and I didn't play 1.0

Well, some early feedback I had from other editors was that we should shy away from 5+ minute songs. In effort to combat that, I've taken to those abrupt transitions to cut out repetitive portions of longer songs. Would listeners not mind longer songs in between talking segments? I try to keep a general balance of time, but if people don't mind lengthier songs, that's at least one way I can sidestep the abrupt editing.
