Sounds cool to me. Looking forward to seeing more at E3, hopefully.

For BB, I'll do anything.

Including tell you that Conan believes to crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentation of their women, is best.

Man, if only some super awesome music podcast ended a three-part special with that track, amirite, Dice?

Kyle is not the right person to listen to if you're remotely interested in JRPGs.  His staff page shows some of his favorite RPGs being Planescape, Mass Effect, and Fallout, which is fine, but it's obvious he wasn't going to enjoy this (or Bravely Default for that matter).

I think that is a bit harsh man. Those are some of my favourite games and I also love JRPGs. People have different tastes and it is as important to hear those that dislike the game as it is those who like it. I was surprised Kyle reviewed this but more so because I had never seen him review a modern dungeon crawler before. Thought all the dungeon crawlers went to Ashton, Tooker or Hussey.

I mean no disrespect to Kyle or RPGFan.  My point is that the review would be beneficial to more people if a fan of Etrian Odyssey reviewed it to see how it compared.  People with similar tastes as Kyle probably already know that Demon Gaze isn't for them or don't even know it exists.  As it stands, Kyle's review is practically useless to me.

I love dungeon crawlers, but some of them are bad. As always, we welcome dissenting opinions-- I appreciate that the majority of you have been having a civilized discussion if you disagree. :)

That said, I disagree with whomever said we don't "get" dungeon crawlers. That's awfully subjective, and even I love the genre, and people still said I had no idea what I was talking about when I said Elminage Original was terrible. Suggesting that you have to "get" a genre as apologism for bad entries in that genre doesn't really fly with me. It is precisely because I love dungeon crawlers that I would pan a bad one, and then some people would say "Stephen doesn't get the genre."

And I think it's pretty general to say that people who like Planescape, Fallout, Mass Effect "know this game isn't for them." I love all three of those mentioned series and dungeon crawlers are absolutely "for me.". Kyle also loves a great number of JRPGs, but has different tastes than even I (I loved Bravely Default, whereas he didn't).

TL;DR remember that RPGFan is not a gelatinous mass. Lots of reviewers with different tastes up in here.

Yeah, I have to say that MEGALOMANIA and Pain the Universe are probably two of my favorite tunes on the album. Super catchy.

Many folks are on Hyperion, and are quite active.

13500 myth basically guarantees I will never see those animus weapons. I have absolutely zero desire to grind enough dungeons to own that weapon... which will then allow me to grind more dungeons¿

I will continue to craft glamour prisms like a fiend and make billions of gil while wearing cool hats.

I gave South Park the game an Editor's Choice because it was creative, stretched far beyond its source material, performed its humor well, and was one of the most memorable gaming experiences I've had, despite not being a South Park fan. I give Editor's Choice awards to games that are awesome and memorable. You'll also note that in the text of my review, I specifically point out that I took issue with some of its humor, referring directly to the rape jokes. From all I've seen, Conception is neither satire nor particularly good at its brand of humor, nor does it offer a creative or memorable gaming experience. Seems pretty clear to me which game I'd give the award to, but that's ME.

We have no problem at all with your dissent from a review-- in fact, it's quite welcome, as it stimulates conversation and gets people discussing the game more objectively (in theory). That is, provided your complaint is not "THE REVIEWER IS WRONG BECAUSE I DISAGREE." That's only a few short steps away from the utterly repugnant "THIS REVIEWER IS A GIRL/GAY/NOT MY DEMOGRAPHIC SO HE/SHE DOESN'T GET IT AND SHOULDN'T HAVE REVIEWED IT" argument. The assertion that South Park is blatantly not funny, etc etc, is pure taste, much as it seems people want to represent Conception II as being. You're always welcome to disagree, but when you nitpick and compare something from one reviewer to another, the argument falls apart.

I don't get why so many titles are going for cheap T&A humor than any other kind of humor.

Wild Arms 5: The Road to Tomorrow Follows Behind You

I believe I am somewhat in the minority of liking Masato Kouda's work on Wild Arms more than Naruke's. Not to say her's is BAD, I still find 1-3's to be incredible. I just somewhat enjoys the newer stuff a bit better.

Nope.  I think this is one of those situations where my bias SHOULD be leaning towards Naruke, but Agematsu and Kouda did such a fucking great job with the series after her (actually, iirc, she was sick during WA4's production).

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7TRsqRWMV7I&feature=share&list=PL883886FBAB9638A0&index=29 - Nightless City Guara Balbao (what you get when a formerly religious town turns to a video game Las Vegas...perfect)

Next to Dahngrest from Tales of Vesperia, I totally consider Guara Balbao to be one the most absolutely chill town themes I've ever heard.
Also, TERRIBURU MONSTURU ATTACKINGU CURU is also one of my favorite standard boss themes in any game ever, really.

Wild Arms 5: Persephone Battle
This is most certainly NOT the sort of song that comes to anyone's mind when discussing Wild Arms, but nevertheless, this is a beautifully crafted song, and one of my first exposures to the soundtrack of Wild Arms 5.

Wild ARMs V remains the only game in the series I haven't played (more than the intro), and I hate myself a little more every day for it. I need to go find a copy. This music is outstanding.

And I actually love the composers that took Naruke's place. She's fantastic too, but their styles definitely fit the series well.

another fantastic thing about Terrible Monster Wrecking Crew is around  is that around 2 minutes, you get a few phrases of the original Wild ARMs' boss theme. OH MAH GOD

Yeah that probably isn't enough to save the game for me. I hit level 70 last night. While I was playing the game, I had two realizations. 1. Grinding for legendaries would be ridiculous because odds are fairly high I would get crap I don't want. 2. I am sick and tired of elite abilities that create areas on the floor.....which is basically half of their abilities. I am going to be the final boss and then never play this stupid thing again. Unfortunately that is going to take forever. God damn clouds. >.>

Actually, the odds that you will get things you don't want are considerably lower. The new system is built around giving you items that are relevant to your class and skillset. In fact, that's quite literally one of the bullet points of the new loot system.

Regarding floor abilities, can't help ya. That's a taste thing and a carry-over from Diablo II.
And yeah Maxximum, you can level crazy fast now. I usually play on master or higher even with my lowbies because the loot and exp drops are just too delicious to not do that. Just wait until you unlock adventure mode if you're on Reaper of Souls. It's so good.
