Why are you trying to track down copies of Shadow Hearts, Xenoblade, and Suikoden II when you are unemployed and have to return games shortly after buying them? Or has your situation changed?

Play them in order. All of them are fantastic and have their own strengths. Plot threads are resolved in each game but carry on based on things in the previous titles.

SH1 is still an outstanding turn-based RPG with dynamite atmosphere and music. SH:C is one of the best games ever made for like 50 reasons. SH3 is weaker if only because it's an entirely new and unrelated cast, but still has great combat, side-quests, writing, and a more wacky and out-there (but still good) story.

Also what Starmongoose said.

I've had a lot of freezes on my 3DS. I heard it was different based on the software, but it's been pretty pervasive on mine.

Quote
Something like a big expansion, or an enhanced edition ala FES or Maniacs, necessitates that all of your new stuff is bundled together and that all of your new stuff gets along amicably together. You don't get that luxury with DLC.

The seven existing Borderlands 1 and 2 DLC packs disagree with this point.

And for what it's worth, I also don't agree with how ME3's DLC was structured. For me, it made sense in ME2 because there was an actual story reason for your DLC, with things that impacted the next game. ME3 was just a scramble to justify their brick-stupid ending, another scramble to further justify that ending, and then some unrelated stuff that had varying mileage depending on how on-board you still were.

But this is a conversation that will never end. Some people just hate DLC, period, and that's totally okay. You all have your reasons. Let's move on from the topic.

I agree. The region-locking was a mandated business choice, period. They didn't do it as they cackled, "hahaha we're going to screw our customers mwahahahahahah!" Businesses have to do things that please their investors and the people that pay the bills. A ton of artistry goes into their games, and the reality is that games these days can use DLC to make a significant extra profit. Like Eusis said, lets wait until we know exactly what the DLC is before we decided Atlus has broken out the industrial-strength customer lube. If they cut out parts of the game that are clearly integral and clearly designed in advance, sure, that's no good. But if they offer meaningful additional content, I'm all for it-- it's like people who complained about Borderlands 2 having the DLC packs-- claiming that they "should have been in the base game." By that argument, developers should just delay games an extra two years to include all the things they would have sold as DLC but made after completing the base game. If you're getting a complete game, the presence of meaningful extra DLC being an affront to you is easily resolved: don't buy it.

Office politics ALLLLWAYS lead to a great product.

Yup. Atlus kicks ass, and has literally never let me down. I'm going to buy the DLC just to support them, even if it's stuff I wouldn't normally care about, like costumes. I'm sure this game will be complete.

Plus, Index is in debt. It's either a slightly pricier game and paid DLC to raise profits (which it absolutely will), or we don't get any more SMT games.

People need to get over this mentality that every piece of DLC ever released is evil and indicative of a sinister incomplete game plot. Not every company is peddling horse armor.

P4G spoilers

Code:
I'm at the real, real final boss-- at least, if Izanami is the real final boss. This game is fucking awesome. Marie's new dungeon was a little tedious, but it looked awesome and the boss fight music being from P4: Reincarnation was off the chain. Seriously one of the best games I've ever played.

Both of them are awesome. Superstar Saga is shorter.

Bowser's Inside Story uses the stylus for minigames, if I recall, but not much else.
609  Media / Multiplayer RPGs / Soul Sacrifice (demo and stuff) on: April 23, 2013, 07:31:37 PM
So yeah, anyone else play this? I'm really liking it. It feels like a fusion between Phantasy Star Portable, Monster Hunter, and-- most importantly, PHANTOM DUST.

I'm really impressed with the demo and it seems like the full game will have a pretty extensive array of customization options. Anyone else try it out?

The Bravely Default concert was so amazing!
Motoi Sakuraba & Marty Friedman performed together on the same stage!

It's probably partially a business decision and partially a time thing. Rushed localizatiosn are bad, and I couldn't care less WHEN we get it, as long as we're actually getting it now. There are fifty million RPGs coming to 3DS this year, and being 'one of many great RPGs' doesn't exactly help sales when most people are going to say "yeah it looks cool but I'm not going to get it at launch, I'll hope the price drops." I have no problem with it being next year-- as long as we're getting it, I'm happy.

Also, awesomeness:

I'm not, sadly.

It does look quite great. ML1 and 3 were great, so I'm hoping this'll be a winner too. Hate those Bros Items though. Hopefully they let you learn new abilities.
