I think FFV has one of the most enjoyable combat/character-building systems in the series. Give it a nice little makeover with some 3D and make the dialogue less patently absurd, and you could have a nice little portable JRPG to have some fun with. I'm also not a huge fan of FFIV in general, and was surprised by how much I enjoyed the remake, all things considered. I'd be very happy to see one done for V-- and if they get Matrix to do it, it could even be as purty as Bravely Default!

I'm not completely sold on this game. I really enjoyed FFX. But I don't believe it really needed to be re-done. I feel like this is time and energy that could be spent on much better things. Polishing up ALREADY 3D graphics is like tracing over a picture and everyone saying "ooooh, what a pretty picture!" I'm not trying to sound too negative, I'm just disappointed that they put so much money into remaking this when much better games like FF6 and FF7 are still yet to have a worth while remake.
The difference between this and a FFVII remake is like the difference between fixing up a car and building a whole new car from scratch from already existing heavily edited blueprints.

Fixed.

to see what they're going to screw up with that.

Not everyone hated FFIVDS, if that's what you're implying. I thought it was the best version of the game yet. I'd actually welcome the FFV 3DS port, personally.

The cloud saves seem nice but the fact you only "own" your games as long as you pay for the service and you lose them as soon as you stop paying for the service is a deal breaker for me.

Remember that's only for games that are free as part of the subscription.  Any games that you buy using a PS+ discount or sale (like me buying Hot Shots Golf for $9) are yours permanently.

And honestly I only consider the "free" thing an issue because you can't buy a game you got for free unless the subscription lapses, not unless you go for two accounts and I'd rather actually OWN the stuff under one account (nevermind when a free game is delisted then given a good Plus sale.) If I could still buy the games in case I wanted more permanent ownership then there'd be no problems at all.

Yeah, it's really not an issue for me. I don't plan on unsubbing, and even if I did, odds are good I'd have already finishing anything I want to play anyway. I love PS+, personally. I bought a Vita and within a day I had access to almost 15 games.

So they're updating the soundtrack on this, like with KH HD. THe official site has the Hymn of the Fayth with live choir and instruments re-recorded. It is amazing. I will be buying this.

Go grab the HD collection and play MGS 3. You'll thank me later.

^ this is quality advice.

And Ground Zeroes is basically the 'Tanker Chapter,' with Phantom Pain being the "Big Shell" chapter-- only they're separate, full-length games. So it's two games.

Looks like FFX and (probably FFX-2) are getting the live instrumentation treatment, too.

http://www.jp.square-enix.com/ffx_x-2HD/ Click FFX to hear the sample.

Hot damn, Square knows how to sell me ports.

From Software made it. It's called Dark Souls and it's the spiritual successor to Demon's Souls.

It's also one of the best action RPGs ever made.

My thoughts exactly.

I agree. I'll definitely be picking this up-- I've yet to be disappointed by a main MG title (well, okay, the plot in 2 was disappointing because it became insanity), and I definitely dig the new ideas Kojima's shooting for with this one.

I'm sure it won't

SULLY

the Vita's name.

David Hayter sure WANTS to be the voice of Snake in this one, but eventually they'll have to change over. Even though Solid Snake got old and his voice didn't change, but hey :)

I feel as though I have missed a huge part of the story by not playing any of the PSP games. Dammit.
Only Peacewalker. Get the hd collection on ps3 or xbob, it plays pretty good.

Or Vita! I'll have to give it a whirl-- I really didn't like Portable Ops, but I hear Peace Walker was a lot betterl

I love dungeon crawlers, and I personally felt like it was a pretty average game even not considering the bad localization, but I agree 100% that it's good on them for releasing a patch this late in the game. Much, much respect for that.

Altus can milk any teat as much as they want and I will continue to sup from it graciously.
