Not so sure about FFX-2 though, it basically ruins FFX's story.

Can you explain in how many ways X-2 is horrible? Because I really enjoyed my time with it (more so than X).
I wouldn't say that it is horrible, per se, but it does fuck up FFX's thematic elements. I thought story was one if FFX's biggest advantages and X-2 kind of messes that up retroactively due to everyone wanting a happy ending.

I agree with Ashton 100%. The finale of X was one of the ballsiest and most genuine in the series, and X-2 was like

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. WHEW. In that case, great work, Square Enix. Looks like they didn't just twiddle their thumbs in the interim.

Same. It's hilarious out of context, but it's supposed to be goofy and awkward. Or terrifying, if it's the JP version. JAT gets an unnecessary amount of hate for that scene.

Also, I'll definitely pick up the Vita versions of this. I have relatively little interest in being tied to my TV with a JRPG like FFX these days, but on the Vita it would be absolutely perfect.

EDIT

Wait a minute. Those screenshot comparisons aren't between the PS2 and HD versions. They're between an emulator and the HD version, and in that regard, the HD version fails hard. What?

Is that maybe an error in identifying which is which? Because the one that is supposedly an emulator is running in widescreen and stuff. It must be an error.

Bleaker, I changed your post to include a hidden section, you spoiled a dungeon for me, and P4G is still pretty new. Try to keep an eye on that, please.

And to chime in on the earlier conversation, I don't care if Persona 5's story is darker or not.  I don't think a story's "darkness" is as important as interesting character struggles, good dialog, and a pace that serves the gameplay.  I'm *extremely* pumped for Persona 5 and it will be a day-one purchase if it comes out for a system I own (*crossing fingers for PS3 & Vita cross-play*), but I could care less about it having a darker tone.

I agree with this 100%.

I'm still trying to decide which version of P3 to play. I have the original PS2 version and the PSP version, but I don't want to miss out on "the Answer" stuff. Hmm.

I'm pretty much over the whole 'this has to be darker' thing. I love the characters and story in P4, and I'm sure I'll love P3 as well. They can go any way with P5 and I'll be down with it.

The Summoner on PS2 is pretty fun, if dated.

Well,
Quote
there's a difference between getting a woman to voice a 10 year old boy, and getting her to voice a "boy" in "his" mid to late teens. It can be legitimately confusing to hear this voice only for everyone to refer to her with male pronouns anyway.

Code:
I suppose it could be, but it wasn't for me. Just seemed like a guy to me, if a slightly femme one. Still, excellent twist, and I'm sorry to hear all of you had it ruined/didn't buy it.

I was kind of disappointed to have that spoiled on me.
Code:
Then I heard the voice actress.

Code:
She didn't seem any more effeminate than many young male characters with lady voice actors to me. In hindsight, sure, it's clearer, but I think that's kind of the point.

Taelus intentionally avoided reading anything and everything about Persona 4 after having the ending of 3 spoiled, so yeah, I managed to avoid it until now :)

Code:
It was especially awesome when she was arguing with the shadow and when she got super pissed she stopped covering her voice. Very cool.

I was also not incredibly fond of Bastion's gameplay-- everything else was neat, but it didn't click with me as a game. The music and art direction for Transistor are much more in line with my tastes. Plus, it has a female protagonist that doesn't look like a sex object. Woohoo!

You mean it's not Tomb Raider? Dohohohoho.

I will not threadjack I will not threadjack.

Seriously though, Logan Cunningham confirmed his involvement in a vocal capacity too, so hurrah for deep-voiced people.

Why support a product when you can just not support a product?

My P5 checklist includes... well, the opposite of what most of you want. Haha. I love the P4 cast and the entire atmosphere.

Dark is pretty often overdone (poorly) these days, but I wouldn't complain about a darker storyline, either, as long as the characters are still likeable. These guys have done dark before, and done it very successfully.

Meguro and Kitajoh on music again, of course. While I would have been happy with more music in the style of P3/4, I'm thrilled that Meguro is going to change it up again for P5. Always love these teams for changing things up so much.

And I actually really like how they tie these games together, so I can't say I'd mind seeing appearances from P3/4 characters.

I didn't love Bastion as a game, but I loved its writing, art style, and music. I will be getting this.
