I still enjoy DmC1 and love DMC3, but this game is just flat-out fun, and that's the reason I play games, period.

I liked DmC more.

I agree. It felt a lot more inspired and less perfunctory. Still, don't let me rain on anyone's parade here! Sometimes you just have to slice up a watermelon/villainous cur until your console breaks under the weight of all the physics calculations.

after listening to the music podcast i gotta say i tend to agree with taelus on most everything this is no different. Derek Heemsbergen on the other hand not so much sorry derek.

Agreeing with me is good. Yes. Very good.

I never beat the first one.  I had it on gamefly and sent it back after a month.  I am almost done with Anor Londo if I remember correctly.  I'm contemplating going back to this before Dark Souls 2, but at the same time the story in that game isn't why you play so maybe I'll just wait for Dark Souls 2.

I think it's worht the time. IMO, some of the best areas in the game come AFTER Anor Londo. It's a great experience!

Also, another reason I chose transcend death is because it's kind of a theme of the series for me. You have these huge odds stacked against you, and you die over and over again as the Undead in order to achieve something more. By succeeding, you are literally transcending the idea of death and making yourself more than death as a concept.

I don't have a ps3 and don't care about a ps4.

I don't care that you don't care.

But seriously, why would you even post in this thread if you don't care?  Why do people feel the need to broadcast things like this?

I went with Transcend Death. Because it sounds awesome.

"No command, no instruction, no warning. They just opened fire on them."

Not that I support Chris Dorner, but the LAPD is making themselves look like psychopaths.  Even if it wasn't a case of mistaken identity (different make, model, and color truck...) that is not proper procedure.  They've clearly prioritized shutting Dorner up over anything else.

I don't condone what he's doing, but it does at this point seem as though his point about 'nothing changing unless something drastic happens' is pretty true. I agree that they've decided they want to shut this guy up. Perhaps he even expected this kind of insane retaliatory response, knowing that if they do this kind of stuff enough, it'll make people call for restructuring.

I hope Wintory wins.

Just got a copy of this for $20 on PC. Hell yeah.

EDIT:

I've finished four missions. This game is awesome. Screw the hating. Maybe I can't dodge frame hyper animation cancel anymore, but I'm still having blast killing stuff. Not disappointed by this in the slightest. I'd be happy to see both styles of DMC continue on.

This is insane. I don't agree with the killing, but I am inclined to believe he is right about there be no change without drastic action. Hard to believe this isn't a movie, this is actually happening.
866  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Etrian Odyssey IV announced for 3DS on: February 08, 2013, 12:24:40 PM
I gotta give it to Atlus this time I tried the demo today just for the sake of trying and I can't believe how surprised I was!
I did have some experience with EOIII and while I liked some of it, I did have my gripes with other things like the learning curve, difficulty, XP rate, etc.

This one, however, I'm liking way more than the other. There are some measures of the strengh of FOEs on the map, also the possibility to know which creature you'll face. The casual mode is also very welcome as I hated that the game was already super hard and a little too much meant complete waste.

Now the star of the show here, for me, is the soundtrack. I had no idea it was going to be this good. I did hear people on GameFaqs talk about, and when I entered the game, nothing special, until you go to the dungeon, I was just mesmerized. I literally went to get my high end headphones just to experience the music!

Soundtracks like this, Dragon Quest VIII, Ni no Kuni, are what can make me smile even when I have to grind for hours. What in most games would be a bore, in these, I can't get mad listening to these spectacular songs!

We've also been saying how great it is, since we reviewed it last year, featured it in our Music of the Year writeup, and our Music of the Year podcast ^^ :) It is indeed fantastic music-- some of Koshiro's best work to date, which is a pretty bold claim, I think.

Oh, it'll be a surprise all right.

Also I love this game. Love how it's more accessible in the first area for newcomers, but quickly ramps it up. Love the changes to gathering and equipment buying, love the overworlds. Great work, all around here.

The only thing I miss are the BIG RED LIGHTS for FOEs since it made them more mysterious and the FM synthesizer battle themes, because Yuzo Koshiro's bass makes me feel pretty.

I have. The music is awesome, and it's quite an extensive demo-- I'm very impressed with it. The new graphical overhaul keeps the same style but manages to make it very fresh.

If it did, people wouldn't be paying ridiculous prices for Suikoden 2 at this point in time.

Suikoden 2 is still not on PSN right? That's ridiculous.

Yeah true, not everything gets reprinted-- but I think in cases like Suikoden 2, it wasn't going to get a reprint anyway, yeah? Still, I see where you're coming from. And no, it's not on PSN yet-- I think it's a rights issue in the US, like with Megaman Legends (although that game's issue has to do with the licensing for the voice acting). I'm playing S2 for the first time now and tracking it down was a colossal pain in the ass.

It also really, really really needs a better translation.

This.
