5 Hours into FF XIII-2. The story has great potential, the characters are likeable and great and SHIT THE GAMEPLAY ROCKS!
Im really digging the improvements and the monster collecting/leveling up thingy. It's much more fast paced, to the point and it has fantastic music aswell. Damn, Im really surprised.

I really liked the gameplay in XIII-2 but found the story in the first game a lot better. I agree with your opinion on the gameplay though. Thought it was a great improvement over XIII whose gameplay I also enjoyed. Can't really remember much of its music but I played it a long time ago. Overall I had a lot of fun with it. Didn't mind Chocolina at all, it was Mog and his voice that I found annoying. I thought XIII was a bit harder although that could be a combination of it being a new battle system to me and XIII-2 allowing me to play defensively against every boss unlike XIII.

Spent a lot of time today cutting down trees that had fallen due to the wind. Crazy amount of trees fell. Unfortunately I didn't have a chainsaw so I had to make do with a handsaw.

Just beat the vampire, everyone's level 83. I was cheap and had everyone sub ninja for utsusemi casting and turn tables for free bp. Pushover fight that way.
Jesus man, I was less than half that at that stage of the game on hard mode. Where did you even grind? Guessing it was around the world map where you go for chapter 4 but it must have taken forever.

Now I'm fighting a series of dragons around the world map for access to the last class quest and they're ruining my damn life. I've resorted to the cheapest abuse for wins, lots of utsusemi and ramparts. I feel dirty not just plowing through battles with regular hits.

Not really a spoiler just a really cheap way to beat the dragons.
Code:
You are already using ninja but if you attach swordmaster or the counter skill, you can dodge and counter attack. You don't even need rampart then.

A more legit way would be timing your attacks for every third round and playing defensively the other two. They always seem to do the attack that makes you weak to their element every third attack.

Too much of a grind for my tastes. They also seem to have no endgame in sight. What about all the players who complete the main story? I want more hurdles, more flappyness and more romance!

I only used SP to complete that tutorial quest. I think most people who do use it, use it to break the 9999 limit to send attacks up to 999,999 to their friends. You will probably have your 3DS in sleep mode for Norende village anyway so you will easily get 3.

Also how do I get more Nemeses?

You can get more nemesis by updating your data once a day. Basically the thing that gives you new villagers once a day.

Speaking of kicking ass, omg Ranger. First job I maxed out, and with the support ability precision, I'm landing 4k crits on enemies. It's ungodly. Forget it if it's flying, it roughs out to a 7k hit on crit. Amazing output.

Ranger is great early game but falls down later. Angel bow is great until chapter 4

So does anybody know what the deal is with the guy in the Wind Shrine? I half expect him to be some sort of sidequest related but usually there's more of an indication as to what's up with somebody than "You're not good enough. Come back tomorrow.".

It is part of the summoner sidequest. Once you get the job he will "test" you to see if you are worthy of that summon.

Monster Hunter 3 Unlimited

Near the end of the five star villager quests. Managed to get to HR2 at Port Tanzia. The larger monsters are finally starting to appear. Surprised at how much fun I am having. Action games are not usually my cup of tea.

Unepic

Seems fun so far. I like the humour in it.

However I fail to see how sequels and prequels somehow impact the quality and merits of the original work(FF7), it's like saying if Dark Souls 2 ends up sucking that Dark Souls 1 by extension is now a crappy game. Oh and you should definitely play Crisis Core, not everything out of the compilation turned out bad.

I don't think Dark Souls 2 is a great example as Demon Souls and Dark Souls are more about gameplay than Story. I agree that a sequel shouldn't change your view on the original game but it still happens. Star Ocean 3 kind of did this to me with every other Star Ocean game.

Every time I see Cloud outside of the original game he seems to be in Advent Children mode and it has happened enough times that when I think of Cloud now, I picture Kingdom Hearts, Dissidia and Advent Children Cloud rather than the Original FFVII Cloud. Crisis Core is great though. I can't say I enjoyed the games actual plot but I did love all the things related to the actual FFVII game.[/quote]

I wonder where the Chronos are in Western games aswell, clearly the superior storytelling.. PS: I have nothing against western games and I love them myself and of course there are many examples of identical quality of storytelling but the elitism pisses me off.

You could say the reverse too though. Where are the Planescape Torments, Baldur's gates and Mass Effects in Eastern games. Or go even further and say where are the PT, BG, ME, Witcher, 999 Chrono Trigger/Cross and Xenogears anywhere outside of those games. Then again, do we even want more of the same or would completely new things be better?

I've been thinking about scoring all my future reviews in Mrgrgrgr's.

Unacceptable!

We also rewatched The Orphanage, a Spanish film produced by Guillermo Del Toro.  It's very good, but the ending is pretty hard for me to watch.

I am also a fan of the movie
Code:
I remember just feeling depressed at the parts where my friends who were seeing it for the first time were more scared. The rewatch was well worth it for me. I do agree with the ending.

A tip to those interested in buying this game. You probably don't want to get this second hand if you don't want the plot spoiled on you. The opening changes after a while.

Keep any Japanese Mammon encounters that appear in your village. She is a level 25 boss. There are two versions of her. One that lets you steal Ethers and one that lets you steal Elixers. Her Elixers can be sold for about 20,000. Really helpful late game. Just steal from her and run away. If you kill her she is gone for good. Protect her so she does not get overwritten by a new boss.

Grinding isn't really an issue in Bravely Default outside of maybe a few side quests in the final chapter. I played on Hard mode and had no problems. Most bosses have a pattern and a good strategy really helps. The more jobs available to you, the more you can develop your party. Buffs and debuffs are also really useful.
