Like: DQ VII/ FF IV I always had a weakness for when castles are under siege like that.

FFIV Advance: Kain's post game trial.

Etrian Odyssey: The boss fight against Fenrir. I was unaware at the time that F.O.E.s could enter regular battles or even boss battles. It made for a great fight when a Skoll entered the fight every now and then.

FFVIII: Triple Triad had me pretty addicted.

BoFIV: The scene at the top of the windmill or when the party just consists of Ershin.
Also when
the final boss convinced me to join him. One or two of his points were flawed but overall "Maybe so" was answered
SMT Devil survivor: There was something about that one good police officer that I loved. Whether it was the fact he was willing to take on demons without a COMP or that he was the only one not clapping when the Shomonkai rescued them.

Suikoden IV:
I went through most of the game wondering why none of the rune of punishment bearers just chopped off their hand and when you find out Cray did just that it was pretty awesome, for me at least.

Phoenix Wright Justice for all: The final trial concerning the Nickel Samurai.
You have to choose whether Adrian Andrews is found Guilty or Maya gets killed. Your choice turns out to be irrelevant but at the time I just stopped playing for five minutes to think it over. In the end I chose to sacrifice Maya for the greater good.

Dislike:The "prologue" of Suikoden V. I really enjoyed it my first playthrough but I was wishing for it to end quickly on my second. Now I have a seperate save just when you arrive at Barrows.

BoF Dragon Quarter: The part where you realize there is no way to lower the D counter. Hope you were not spamming it. (I actually really liked this game overall even if it took some adjusting to)

FFX: The butterfly minigame. This really got on my nerves.

Xenogears: That rock paper scissors game drove me insane. Technically it was optional but I always felt obliged to complete it.

Suikoden Tierkreis: Realizing that collecting 108 stars of destiny affected almost nothing in the game.

My average morning. I wake up at 6:55 and turn off the alarm set for 7.00. Before I drift back to sleep I set it for 8.00. I wake up around 7.55 and turn it off again. Around 8.30 I look at my watch and freak out. I have a quick shower, a bowl of wheetibix if I have the time and power walk to college before the lecture begins.

Oh, yeah. As soon as this hits the EU i'll be playing the shit out of it. Although the time limit does stress me the fuck out, I did enjoy Annie. I'm a huge Atelier fan.

Basically what I am going to do. If it was going to be a long time until it was released over here I may have imported it but thankfully it will be less than a month difference to NA.

Perhaps, but there is definitely a save at the end of the credits, why would there be if it wasn't for the carry-over? It's not like theres a new game +

I just remember reading it on a faq a few years ago. Of course it has been a long time so I could be mistaken.

As for new game + some things are carried over. Also if you put a character in the top of your team you walk around as them rather than Lazlo.

and I sat through those long-ass credits so I could save it post-game so I could transfer the save.

It is actually the save file near the end of the game with you having 108 stars of destiny that you will need. Or at least I am pretty sure it is.
711  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: I just discovered a JRPG I'd never heard of... on: September 16, 2010, 10:32:46 AM
I actually really liked the game. I had played this before Disgaea so that may play a part. Although it is pretty humorous the game can get pretty dark.

Worth nothing that the "demon path" which is unlocked after the first playthrough is the best 'play as the bad guy' scenario ever made.

I thought evil mode was pretty awesome. I was expecting it to be average anti hero stuff but five minutes in and all hell is breaking loose. The main character is a psychopath even though he sleeps through most of the mode.

Though Kanji totally wasn't gay, even if people think he is. Just sayin'.

I always thought that. If anyone was gay it was Yosuke. Although since he liked Chie perhaps Bisexual would be a better term.

I am loving the parodies. My favourite so far is probably the MGS one on day 8.

I am unable to drink alcohol while eating. They just don't match for me. I don't drink that often so that may play a role. Of course this is coming from the guy who does not like purple skittles.
715  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Who is the most manliest JRPG hero? on: September 11, 2010, 05:25:15 PM
I cannot really think of any. If I were to just think about what they had done I am sure there would be many but I always have the mentality of "well, they are main characters. What do you expect". Probably unfair but I cannot help thinking that way.

Strangely when I first read this thread the first person tha came to mind was that one police officer from SMT Devil Survivor. The one that showed up on day 2 and day 6.

I am currently playing Recettear. I am really enjoying myself so far. As a big fan of Gust I feel right at home with this game.

Bought it off Steam yesterday and am loving it so far.
718  The Rest / General Discussions / Re: Men who play as female characters. on: September 08, 2010, 02:24:15 PM
The only fighter games I played were the soul calibur games and Dissidia. In Soul Calibur I tended to just play  random characters stories and chose the character with the fighting style I was most comfortable using. I always had a soft spot for FF6 so Terra was my main in Dissidia.

RPG wise if you can create your own character or it is a silent protagonist I tend to go male the vast majority of the time(If it is a generated team like DQIX or Etrian Odyssey I have a mixture of both)

If they are seperate stories I just choose what I feel is the most interesting one. For Hexys Force I started my first playthrough as the female main character.

Just read Graceling by Kristin Cashore. I really enjoyed the idea of Graces and thought it was a good book even if the romance was pretty weak.

Think it will use your save file from either of the gba games? Something like The lost age did to the original.
