It doesn't. Troubs suck.

I thought they were pretty awesome in 1. Especially in the latter stages of the game.

If the rest of the DQ series has things to consider other than just spamming attack and Healmore,

From what I remember some are different. The basics are the same of course but I found the battles in VII to be a lot more challenging. Buffs and Debuffs were really useful. Of course it has been a while since I played VII so correct me if I am wrong.

I actually did not mind the alchemy part of IX. I prefer how Gust handles it but for IX I just returned now and again to the alchemy pot to see if I could make anything new. I never really tried purposefully looking for ingredients unless it was a quest or post game.

It has been a long time since I last read that list.

I cannot remember if it is on the list or not, but one cliche is violence solves everything and I mean everything.

A lot of people try to use alcohol as an excuse to do things that they actually wanted to do anyway but would be social faux pas if they weren't 'drunk'.

That sounds like me. I do not mean the people who cheat or get into fights but rather...I never dance drunk ever, although I never let on I am sober. Lately on nights out I rarely drink more than two or three drinks.

it's actually the best game ever.

You are obviously mentally deranged if you do not accept Tetris as the greatest game ever. It has great graphics even by todays standards, an epic storyline that may drop a bit around the 50,000 point score but soon picks up. Are the blocks your allies?. Your enemies?. You decide.

Ignoring the crap I said above, Tetris is an awesome game.

On topic Suikoden IV is really unappreciated among fans. Do not get me wrong, people who were not really into Suikoden and disliked it for its flaws have valid reasons. I mean the hardcore fans who pretty much despise the game. I actually enjoyed the game and although it is not my favourite Suikoden I love the Rune of Punishment and Lazlo is probably my favourite of the Suikoden silent protagonists. I also found barring 1 it was the easiest of the series to get back into in a replay.

I always thought Guardian's Crusade was an unappreciated game. I loved the game although alot of people were probably turned away by the graphics and the box art.

Although Aedis Eclipse: Generation of Chaos had it's flaws I thought it was a good game. I think most people saw it was made by idea factory and just walked away from it.

While you might not find the prospect of being a Weaver or a Fisherman enticing, there are alot of people who are excited about it

I will probably go that way. I actually find things like that more fun after a short while.

Whenever I am drunk I tend to be at the pub or at a party. I never saw what people got out of drinking beer at home.

The accents were fucking horrible what is wrong with you.

Partially I just have a vendetta against anything involving the Zamoskva guys because I fucking majored in Russian and Russians whose second language is English do not talk like that at all and I honestly found it borderline offensive.

It is all a matter of opinion if you liked them or not. I liked them, I did not say they were great for everyone.

I think they did it like that more to let us know they were Russian. I agree that normal English speaking Russians sound nothing like that but not everyone would know that they were Russian in DQ just from the word Tsar. It is similar to how the Scottish say Ach in every sentence and the Irish say every cliche barring Top o the mornin to ya. I saw it all as some fun, not that it was offensive.

Just finished the game today. The first two thirds really reminded me of Dragon Quest VII. I really enjoyed it although
Code:
if you have a name and look different from generic NPC's you have a 75% chance of dying.

As Dragon Quest IV was the last Dragon Quest I played I kind of missed the accents. They were there just not as much. Still it did have a lot of puns.
716  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: I have too many games to play!!! on: July 23, 2010, 05:47:13 PM
If I want to clear some games from my backlog I try to find if one of my friends has the game but has yet to complete it. This usually gives me the motivation to try to beat it first. I do not rush playing, it is just I am less likely to suddenly switch to another game.

Maybe it is slightly petty but it is not as if I tell the other person there is a secret competition going on.

That risk factor is what draws certain people to these games though. Although it allowed you to keep your map progress, Etrian Odyssey could be just as harsh.  If they did make the changes you mention it may allow other gamers to enjoy it more but it could also lose that attractiveness that drew people to it in the first place.

The only thing that really annoyed me about SJ was when in the middle of negotiating they say "I want 1,005,002 Macca. Only joking, did you believe me?"

I did not mind it when Faeries did it because, well... they are Faeries. It really got on my nerves after a while though.
719  The Rest / The Helper Monkey / Re: PSP Rpg's. Whatever will I buy? on: July 20, 2010, 05:13:55 PM
Half minute hero is a great game but also very short. It is also pretty easy until Hero 300 and Hero 3.
720  The Rest / General Discussions / Re: Food! on: July 20, 2010, 08:26:31 AM
It's funny, when I was a kid my Gran would use an ice cream scoop on the mashed potatoes, and you would get little mounds of mashed potato. Now I do that myself, I can't enjoy them unless they are like ice cream scoops.

I have it the same way. To be honest I was not aware there was another way. I cannot imagine eating it when it is just mush. You need to get your fork and cut one of the scoops in half before eating them.
