I am playing Infinite Space at the moment. Just at the start where you finally leave the first sector. I have a question for anyone that has played it. Does the combat get fun? It may be just me but at the moment it seems a bit repetitive. That said, apart from the combat I do find it interesting.

In my view it is not so different than scientists believing time began after the big bang. Scientists believed that that was where it began but it has been proven false. Although they believed otherwise this did not prevent them from discovering it.

I hate it when best does not necessarily mean my favourite.

Disgaea 1

Jean D'Arc

Dragon Quest VIII

SMT DDS 1+2 (Assuming they count as one)

SMT Persona 3 FES (I personally preferred 4 but I would say that 3 is the better game)

Shadow Hearts Covenant (A bit overrated but still a great game)

Suikoden V (Admittedly III and IV took more risks but I felt that V went back to what made Suikoden great while keeping the improvments from the previous two installments)

SMT Nocturne

Etrian Odyssey (For many people this was the game that introduced them to dungeon crawlers. It also showed that hard is not necessarily a bad thing)

Rune Factory

But who is REALLY the invader?  Our homes are not natural structures.  Maybe...just MAYBE, we invaded first, and this is there way of saying a big FUCK YOU to all of us and fighting back.

For some reason I suddenly thought of all of humanity being shrunk to the size of an insect because of over population. ...shortly followed by the insects kicking our asses.

It is not out yet but I predict that Golden Sun DS will be. I mean it has so much hype that I am not sure if being better than the first two will be enough.

Macca isn't hard to get if you're properly abusing the combat system to get bonuses.

I messed around a lot with fusions so I needed more than the normal amount of macca.
713  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: devil survivor is too hard! on: July 30, 2010, 02:04:41 PM

If you're doing anything resembling "grinding" in Devil Survivor you are doing it wrong.

You may not need to, but if you needlessly make life hard for yourself by aiming to get the true ending on your first playthrough, things can get rather difficult.

What I normally did was enter a free battle as soon as it opened and skill crack everything. I did the same if I needed macca for the auctions. The exp I gained in those battles was usually enough.

You may already know this but turning off your DS and turning it back on resets the demons shown in the auction. It can come in very handy sometimes.

As for a more current RPG,I would have to say Valkyria Chronicles

I thought that it was loved by the vast majority of those who played it?

Only wheras it took the world banding together against a common foe to merely seal it, a small group of young teenagers(there may or may not be an ancient 17 year old) will be able to finish it off for good this time.

Another one is that if you are ever arrested there will be a skeleton in a cell nearby if they are not already in the one you occupy.

He only plays a small part in it. Only a few short scenes.

The doll will most likely freak you out more.

There is nothing wrong with not liking clowns. I can handle any amount of blood and dismembering but give me a slow clip of someone getting a needle and I become very uneasy.

yeah we wouldnt want to come up with a reason to say dq9 has so much strategy involved in how to not miss a liquid metal slme 6 times

You can also try your luck with a spears Thunder Thrust skill. It is an automatically critical hit if it connects.

Um...I get that you dislike the game but what is with the vibe of pure hatred?
718  The Rest / General Discussions / Re: Does anyone actually like random battles? on: July 28, 2010, 09:09:12 AM
Either way is fine by me. I think there are games that fit on screen encounters and games that fit random encounters. Could you imagine playing a dungeon crawler like Etrian Odyssey(not including F.O.Es) or Strange Journey with on screen encounters.

I would probably be one of the few people who would lean towards random battles. If I can see an enemy and avoid it I usually do. This usually leads to me being very underlevelled wheras in random encounters I am of the mindset of never clicking Run.

It doesn't. Troubs suck.

I thought they were pretty awesome in 1. Especially in the latter stages of the game.

If the rest of the DQ series has things to consider other than just spamming attack and Healmore,

From what I remember some are different. The basics are the same of course but I found the battles in VII to be a lot more challenging. Buffs and Debuffs were really useful. Of course it has been a while since I played VII so correct me if I am wrong.

I actually did not mind the alchemy part of IX. I prefer how Gust handles it but for IX I just returned now and again to the alchemy pot to see if I could make anything new. I never really tried purposefully looking for ingredients unless it was a quest or post game.
