Media / The Soundroom / Speaking of Prog-Metal/goth I have to mention this...

I have recently been blown away by this goth/opera/prog/metal/folk/etc band from Italy called Devil Doll. This band is an interesting fusion of the above mentioned genres with HEAVY infulences from the music of italain silent horror films. Their music can send chills to the spine, and the lead's vocals might be disliked at first(most people comment how he sounds like Gollem) grow on you and seem perfect for the mood of the songs. One this that makes this band so unique in addition to the stuff that I mention is that each of their songs lasts from 25-90 minutes. Amazing group, for those interested to a listen check out this site http://www.progarchives.com/Progressive_rock_discography_BAND.asp?band_id=79 for a snippet of their last released album(they are still recording albums but haven't released one in ten years...wtf?!??!). And if you're interested to know more about the band contact me. :)

The ultra-commercialism of Morning Musume disgusts me. I have no problem with other "created" bands, like Spice Girls or Backstreet Boys (well, no problems except that I think their music is abmyssal), but something about how Morning Musume changes members every year, just to give the fanboys something new to oogle, is kind of creepy. Fanboys eh? Wanna know whats really creepy? A few years back I was dating this Japanese girl, and I asked her what was up with this group. She told me all about them but the part that really distrubed me was their fanbase is mainly married men in thier 40's and 50's.....creepy.

I go by M^2. I'm 27. Male. I program games and hate my job(stagnation HO!!!). I play too much FFXI.
I enjoy reading scifi and fantasy, also in the progressive political movement. I love RPGs, computers, comics, books, women, and electronic gadgets.

Ok my thoughts
So far I love the game, I enjoyed SH and SH:C. So far I'm liking SH:C more but then again I'm still pretty early in the game.
Gameplay is the same and I like it, graphics are great(I wish it would support 480p), and the voice acting is decent(it could be better but oh well). The characters so far are likable, I myself would prefer Shania being the main char since she's pretty damn cool, but I understand them making Johnny the main char(since kinda an RPG cliche idealist young boy). Settings, its pretty hard to do a "dark"(SH dark) setting in the US in the 20's since everything was so "new" in America, they could have used those mystery cults that were popular in the 20(see the comic The Sandman for a reference) but those i beleive were almost always in europe, or they could have used the masons, but that might have lead to controversy. I beleive this SH will have its own unique charm to it in the long run.

ok I just saw a 17 min video promo for persona 3(don't ask how I got it). Here's my impressions:
Opening Intro: the new logo gives it this hip shibuya feel and the opening intro looks a lot like a "bright" anime intro. It still has the butterfly. Now before you groan wait up...
First movie: Beautifully done anime sequence, shows a girl trying to shoot herself with a gun but not having the nerves.
Velvet Room: Igor is back with a new assistant.
School: Shows the school and the main chars. Doesn't seem like anyone is back.
Combat: I like the new UI, the character's stats is on the right hand screen and very minimalistic, giving you a full picture of combat. The main char summons his personas by "shooting" himself in the head. Swords and guns it seems.
Main Roaming: Seems exactly the same but in dungeons, everyone follows you.
Hidoshi: Atlus like Konami, SE, Sega, Nippon Ichi, Capcom, and SE, now consider all games as likely canididates for the US, if a game has content in the japanese version that might stop if from US release, its likely to be removed.
