OMG this is gonna be great.  As a side note, I'm really glad this manga is getting the live action treatment instead of an anime.

The only show I watch on TV is also Lost, the rest I usually download.  The stuff I download is usually, Simpson, Southpark, Family Guy, The Boondocks, and Doctor Who(new series rocks).

I consider myself a liberal who is somewhat concerned about the enviroment, but this..... this just seems like like Al Gore's 2hr ego trip.
515  The Rest / General Discussions / Ubisoft to drop Starforce copy protection on: April 14, 2006, 01:40:56 PM
The best copy protection ever for a game, i read about it once in Game Developer's magazine.  What this game did was add a simple copy protection in the game to fool you into thinking this was the copy protection for the game.  In the game there was a check at startup and at a few specific points in the game, that would check if the CRC for the executable was altered(most common way is removing the simple copy protection), if the check failed, the game was rendered unbeatable, you could not progress any futhur.  The beauty of this was no one figured out this was the copy protection, they didn't figure it out until the game hit the bargain bins.   I salute the developers for doing that!

SCEA doesn't have a policy on/against 2D/3D games.  The game can totally lacking in polygons and if it looks pretty they'll approve it.  Also big name developers like EA, SE, etc. are given special exceptions in the case of what games SCEA will approve or not.

Anyone care to guess why Atlus made this decision? Is the content of Devil Summoner much more "objectionable" than the SMT games we get these days?

SCEA doesn't care about content, to them the game doesn't "look pretty" thus they'ed turn it down.  Also SCEA won't accept ports unless there's "30% new content".

521  Media / The Soundroom / Speaking of Prog-Metal/goth I have to mention this... on: April 04, 2006, 05:41:04 AM
I have recently been blown away by this goth/opera/prog/metal/folk/etc band from Italy called Devil Doll.  This band is an interesting fusion of the above mentioned genres with HEAVY infulences from the music of italain silent horror films.  Their music can send chills to the spine, and the lead's vocals might be disliked at first(most people comment how he sounds like Gollem) grow on you and seem perfect for the mood of the songs.  One this that makes this band so unique in addition to the stuff that I mention is that each of their songs lasts from 25-90 minutes.  Amazing group, for those interested to a listen check out this site http://www.progarchives.com/Progressive_rock_discography_BAND.asp?band_id=79 for a snippet of their last released album(they are still recording albums but haven't released one in ten years...wtf?!??!).  And if you're interested to know more about the band contact me. :)

The ultra-commercialism of Morning Musume disgusts me. I have no problem with other "created" bands, like Spice Girls or Backstreet Boys (well, no problems except that I think their music is abmyssal), but something about how Morning Musume changes members every year, just to give the fanboys something new to oogle, is kind of creepy.

Fanboys eh? Wanna know whats really creepy?  A few years back I was dating this Japanese girl, and I asked her what was up with this group.  She told me all about them but the part that really distrubed me was their fanbase is mainly married men in thier 40's and 50's.....creepy.

Ok my thoughts

So far I love the game, I enjoyed SH and SH:C.  So far I'm liking SH:C more but then again I'm still pretty early in the game.

Gameplay is the same and I like it, graphics are great(I wish it would support 480p), and the voice acting is decent(it could be better but oh well).  The characters so far are likable, I myself would prefer Shania being the main char since she's pretty damn cool, but I understand them making Johnny the main char(since kinda an RPG cliche idealist young boy).  Settings, its pretty hard to do a "dark"(SH dark) setting in the US in the 20's since everything was so "new" in America, they could have used those mystery cults that were popular in the 20(see the comic The Sandman for a reference) but those i beleive were almost always in europe, or they could have used the masons, but that might have lead to controversy.  I beleive this SH will have its own unique charm to it in the long run.
