Man, Canada is such a third world country in some respects.
I remember an article about 2 surveys that were done around the same time.
One showed Montreal as the third most 'connected' city in the world (types of usage, hours per week, average ability). The other showed Montreal as the top 100 worst internet in the world (speed, availability, cost).
My boss (who teaches several basic computer classes per week) sent out an email this morning saying she doesn't want us charging our phones on the work PCs any longer because she's worried it's going to give them a virus. Apparently a U2 album suddenly downloaded onto her iPhone without her knowing about it and because of her profound misunderstanding of how electronic devices work and refusal to do a 3 minute google search on the subject, she thinks she got it from a virus off her work computer. I just..I can't even...
It would indeed be wonderful if people would Google things first then freak out.
I had a long discussion today about all the things that were destroyed in translation in pretty much any domain. So how about offsetting that with the rare cases of things that actually ended up better after being translated. This can be movies, song, video games, whatever.
