16  Media / Game Journals / Re: A Game Journal Reborn on: July 25, 2015, 12:50:52 AM
So I bought School Days HQ since it was in a bundle for 8$ (it's not anymore, the deal lasted only 3h) and I've been playing it tonight.
(yes, there's lewd... we all know that. There's also a lot of character development and socializing)
I'm amazed by how good the branching is. There's a lot of freedom in the game.
Another thing is that the game is awesome at making you feel like a dirtbag.
Seriously! No matter what you do, it always feels like you just fucked up everything.

I can see why this game rose to fame as it really is that well done.

My biggest disappointment would be that for a game with "HD" in its name, it's not HD at all. The resolution of the game is like 800x500 which looks tiny as hell on a 1920x1200.

EDIT: Oh yeah, also, Sekai has like the worst friends ever.
EDIT#2: Oh yeah, also, whenever you have to make a choice, you have the option of not making a choice (let it timeout). That's a pretty cool mechanic overall as sometimes, you just really feel like not answering is the best thing you could do.

EDIT#3: Seriously! The pathing is all kinds of crazy. I've played 4 games and the story was completely different each time and I know I'm not even close to doing all the paths. Another nice thing is that depending on the path, the length of each chapter can vary by a lot. I'm on one chapter right now that's been lasting over an hour simply because the plot is really complicated (it was maybe 30 minutes in my other games).

EDIT#4: I finally got a bloody ending =) Saw neck one.
Also, the main title screen changes on your last ending. Now it's an overpass covered in Blood.

Microsoft decided to become awesome:

You can also get their DIY kit to make things like... let's say... a ninja cat riding a dual narwhal wielding T-Rex

You'd...have to sew like 8 body pillows together. xD

Sewing?
It's for sale for 100,000 yen (~800$)

Hate to break it to you but Dice was right the first time.  That just says 'cover' (カバー).

I'll be frank, I didn't read the moonrunes.
Man, who the hell would pay 800$ for a cover? (that's a rhetorical question sadly...)

Guys, just a small reminder that this function is available on this forum:

Holy shit.  Yeah the slowdown was an issue (IIRC Muramasa on the Vita fixed that up, no?), but the new Odin Sphere is a PROPER enhancement if I've ever seen one.  Looks like they took its flaws of the game pretty seriously...  I'll definitely be throwing money for this one.

Slowdown is one issue but the biggest flaw of the game was that enemies completely ignored being hit.
I mean, why would you make a side-scrolling 'beat'em up' where enemies don't stagger?
It's just a terrible design decision.

Just want to mention that thinking about Re:Monster really had me pissed off for most of today. Like, I tried to imagine what it would be like reading a novel with stuff like that and I was disgusted. Then I tried imagining a protagonist for a story like that, and I felt nothing but pure contempt. I can only hope the end of the story involves some sort of Gene bomb, preferably delivered through a tragically ironic manner involving the protag, thus forcing the defeat of the goblin race (hopefully with some sort of civilized society left standing in the process).

Or at least have some L to Re:monster's Yagami. (at least I'm assuming they're trying to paint him as an anti-hero and not just a pure villain...)

Why wonder, when you can read!

(God, I am pure evil right now)

28  The Rest / The Helper Monkey / Re: Good MIDI editor? on: July 17, 2015, 07:43:01 PM
When I worked with it, I really loved Cakewalk. Not sure if they even make that anymore, though. That was at least a decade ago.

Yeah, I used that like 20 years ago too lol.
I don't think it exists as a MIDI editor anymore.
29  The Rest / The Helper Monkey / Good MIDI editor? on: July 17, 2015, 04:02:09 PM
I'm looking for a good MIDI editor.
I can read sheet music so I'm fine with any software that would have that interface.
30  Media / Anime, TV, and Movies / Re: Anime/Manga Journal on: July 17, 2015, 09:41:08 AM
The thing with a lot of LN is that they end up as cesspool of ultimate male power fantasy.
From the few I've tried reading, I'd say that if the main character starts off powerful because of xyz reason... that's a very bad sign.

Hell, all you really need as an indicator are the title being way too long, and a cover that's totally blank outside of the 'obviously a waifu' and said title.

"Re:Monster" disagrees with that one though =/

The manga is kinda OK since the mangaka is cutting a lot of the 'less desirable' content.
In my mind, this is the mangaka after reading a chapter of Re:monster thinking of how much rework/cutting will be needed:

«Oh look, they just defeated an elven army, enslaved every surviving men and women and then drugged them all until they had so few of their wits left, they 'willingly' accepted rape...»
