The French MMO company Ankama is opening an office here in Montreal.

I don't care much about any of their MMO, but I really loved the Wakfu TV serie.

Update: oh they're going to make 3x 45 minutes specials

I never thought I'd say I understand Mesh... but when it comes to work, I totally do.

I would never accept a promotion. It's just suicidal.
First of all, when they make cuts, lower management is usually the first thing that goes away.
Secondly, you start working crazy hours and don't really make more money than before (heck, you can't charge overtime if you're in a leading position at my corp)

Working for a big corporation is hell.
Worst is you can't leave because they tempt you with the pretty good salary and full medical coverage.

Older MMOs worked absolutely fine without this nonsense.

Not really. Maybe you didn't notice the problem but it was there before (and I'm talking 1990s here). The difference is that you weren't forced to randomly party with these people.
Back then, these people were the corpses you saw at the entrance of a high level zone begging everyone for a "rez plz".

It's actually the Kagamines that bother me.  I don't care for their voices at all...

Megurine Luka sounds awful in every song I've done.
It's even worst in her room.

Man, everyone seems to be way ahead of me.

I'm still lvl 20-ish in my main class. Perhaps I should just power through with that instead of slowly raising all my crafting skills =/

So I just learned that if you have a dual input, you should press both buttons every time.
I used to hold the arrow and then press the button. You get bonus points if you mash both buttons every time.

Yeah, I just never use items since I think "Hmmm, I might need this later and I can do this without it probably."
This might come from my younger days playing the early DQ games where you had very limited carrying capacity and good items were only found in chests so you wanted to use them only as a last resort.

True, she's good with items... too bad I suffer from a weird mental trauma that makes me never want to use items in any RPG.
I think that's the reason why I never end up getting any of the Atelier games.
1629  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Tales of Xillia on: September 11, 2013, 10:16:48 AM
Ever tried Teepo Copter? Jude wouldn't give me any time to cast decent spells, so I Teepo Coptered my way to victory. Very amusing.

Pow Hammer stun rate is crazy high, 2-3 Pow Hammer is pretty much a guaranteed stun even against bosses.
Then you have way enough time to throw your strongest spell.

Another thing about Elize is her Pinky quest staff. It's way stronger than even her (sealed) Demon Arm.

On the flip side there's Leia whose final equipment is pretty bad, her offense is so-so, her defense is bad and she's just an 'off'-healer.
Her link special is only good as long as you want to steal stuff. After you've maxed the shop levels, I really don't see why you'd want her in the team anymore. Her only saving grace is that she has a resurrection spell... but then again, Elize has an auto-rez spell so you shouldn't even need it.

Yeah, she's actually the never-before-seen mage character that's 'ok' to hit the coliseum with.

After Jude which I played through the whole game, Elize was the second easiest in the arena.
She's bulky, she has pretty good HP for a mage, she has useful combat artes, 2 great offensive spells and 1 of them can insta-death at really good odds with Teepo ON.
I didn't even need to heal myself while playing the healer =/

Now that I've finished the game, I've been looking into which of the character is the most broken (a Tales tradition after all)

Elise wins as she cannot be killed.

The only thing that can go through your guard are some weird arts (like Soaring Vortex) or Mystic Arts which you will laugh at because most of them are elemental and they'll be mostly or fully negated by your 100 resistance to every element. While you are blocking, you reflect damage and toss Pow Hammers and recover HP.

Melee Gamble
Decreases damage received while guarding to 1
Doubles damage received if not guarding

Survive
Prevents being knocked out while guarding

Impregnable Guard
Guard cannot be broken

Pow Hammer
10% chance to strike with a Pow Hammer upon receiving damage

Reflective Guard
Reflects 20% of damage received while guarding

Heal Guard
Recovers HP gradually while guarding

Auto Medicine
15% chance to recover HP upon receiving damage

Recall
40% chance to automatically revive after being knocked out (once per battle)

Angel's Cry
100% chance to automatically revive after being knocked out (once per battle)

It's pointless.

Well... coming from WoW I can say 2 things.

#1 Blizzard's minimum requirement for gear was realistic and easy to achieve to anyone who puts a minimal effort in gearing up. It made sure you couldn't queue in dungeons where you would have been seriously under-geared.

#2 Players destroyed any use of this by either equiping items which did nothing for their class but were high item level (I have pug way too often with people in PVP sets...) and then also took it too far by requesting that others have ilvl so high they compensate for any personal skill.

Gear check isn't bad in itself. The reaction to it in WoW is what was terrible.
Sadly, I assume players will have the same reaction in FF14 unless they find a way to fix the system.

1634  The Rest / General Discussions / Re: RPGfan Community Quiz Quiz Show! on: September 10, 2013, 12:03:35 PM
Well, there's also stuff that I know but I find way too meta.
I could ask which song from a j-pop artist was included in the game, but then that's not really about the game anymore.

A: Tobikata Wo Wasureta Chiisana Tori (The Small Bird That Forgot How To Fly)
Plays at the very beginning and on the ending credits

I worked on this a good bit and I've got 10 questions.
I just don't like half of them.

Also trying to find how I could do a visual and audio question.
The music of SO3 is pretty well known because of the OSTs... or is it just me?
