- Enemies level with you somewhat. - Being too high level bugs special move evolution. - Being too high level bugs weapon evolution. - Stats are not gained with levels, but gained after hard battles. Thus, keeping your level the lowest possible and only fighting rare monsters/bosses (avoiding nearly every single normal battle) will yield more stats. - Special attacks and spells level up by being used a lot. Totally random when it actually happens though. - Level = BR - No one knows when or why BR goes up... it just does at moments. - Avoiding battles in the safest way to not BR up. - A lot of characters can be missed, very tight schedules/windows for recruitment. (use a FAQ) - Characters can be physical / middle / magical. - Using physical makes it physical, magical magical and a bit of both for middle. - Characters will sometime ask you what they should train, your answer will make them go physical / middle / magical. - A fully physical character can become useless if he somehows ends up 'magical'. - Special moves learned and weapon evolutions depend on physical / middle / magical. - Only hero can buy / equip weapons, NPCs need to evolve weapons. - NPCs evolve weapons by taking specific drops after battle, but it's not 100%. Buying the drops does nothing, needs to battle drop. - Most weapon evolution require a lot of ginding. Grinding raises BR. You are screwed. - You cannot go back to an old weapon if you get the wrong one. - When NPCs have their ultimate weapon, they will keep pestering you because they'll want to upgrade to the middle weapon of the same tier. (which is bad, unless you do want him to be middle) - Making an NPC middle or having a middle weapon means making him totally useless. (only 2-3 exceptions) - Some weapon evolutions are bugged and won't ever happen. - Some weapon evolutions make no sense and will yield a weapon of opposite stat to the character fighting style. - Fighting styles can evolve into strong, quick or swift. Totally random. Sometimes unlearn randomly too.
This game's system is really awful and hidden. Most people on the PC used trainers to unbug or unscrew themselves.

Look forward to some ass-kicking awesomeness as I school the boys and prove the game is just fine!
If you can convince the PC gamers, that were looking for the legacy of BG2, that DA2 is fine, you sir will be podcast master extraordinaire.

Ubisoft is French, it's based in Montreal. Give me 20 minutes and I could be right there at the door =/
EDIT: Actually, I used to work with someone who went to work for Ubisoft. I'll check if she's still there and ask her WTF's up with this game =P

Did DeJap ever finish the translation? I remember downloading an incomplete version that bugged out so I really didn't get the far in (maybe 45 minutes). It's one of the few games I'd still be willing to emulate if I found a good translation. They finished long ago......maybe a decade now? I recall some controversy over the patch though. Apparently, the translation is rather loose in terms of faithfulness (bear in mind that this was the Working Designs norm too, so the direction wasn't entirely shocking), and the writers took it upon themselves make the script cruder than it's supposed to be. I didn't complain about learning that one of the characters fucks like a tiger. That was one of the best moment in the whole game! I remember seeing a guy with a shirt at some anime convention. The back had a tiger drawn in chinese style The front had Arche with the text "Like a Tiger"

Looking at 2011, it's been a long while since there were so many games I want packed in 365 days. Looking at the incoming big/revolutionary titles, we are getting (I probably forgot some, so say and I'll edit the list) it makes me wonder if there was ever a better year to be a gamer.
Non-RPG: Katawa Shoujo
Is that actually coming out this year? I thought it was in eternal limbo or something. http://katawashoujo.blogspot.com/« So that's where the project currently stands. The coming months are going to be a busy time in preparation for release, but rest assured that Katawa Shoujo will be released in 2011. »

I usually don't listen to gaming podcast because most people who do them are monetary linked to the gaming industry and thus often say bullshit. This one is nice because, other than personal vendettas, it's pretty unbiased.

I was surprised that there wasn't any friendly fire in the demo. To me, fireballing your entire party without any negative effect is just so wrong...
They really made sure the demo was do-able even for the dumbest people out there. Yet, the Bioware forum is full of people who said they died against the ogre.
