I played X-Com EW all day today.
I had played and finished the EU before but this is my first game with EW.

All I have to say is that you can make your soldiers stronger than in EU, but the missions from EW are way more unfair than EU (which are already completely unfair).

One of the new 'mechanic' are objective maps where you need to perform a task and enemies spawn each turn eventually completely swarming you.
That one is really shitty and I lost a whole team -1 to it (basically let someone run and get a head start to the retrieving zone while the others made time for him) =(

What everyone says.
+ How about a restraining order. Not because he'd listen to it, but it could force him to move away.

Ok, at this point someone needs to call the main character of Aldnoah Zero "Orange-kun".
It's just asking for a Code Geass reference.

- Combat with map enemies is trivial if you get a preemptive strike and you can usually kill them before they do anything, but if they get a surprise attack on you they can do a ton of damage before you can act. And it's easy to get surprise attacks because if an enemy hits ANYONE in your party that has their back turned it triggers one. Like I managed to get surprise attacked by walking away from a stationary enemy, cause my party... just flipped behind me. Meanwhile it's weird to get preemptive strikes because, thanks to the 3D maps and 2D sprites, it's NOT always apparent whether you're running into an enemy's back or not in certain camera angles.

Have you got the Haze quartz yet? You get it at Bracer rank 5, equip it and enemies will stop chasing you. After I've got that, I usually just fight one or two of each enemy type in an area and ignore the rest, there's more than enough experience and sepith to stay reasonably strong without getting overleveled.

No, I'm with Mesh here. It's pretty bad how when you turn around, your entire party retraces your step instead of staying at their location until they can move to follow you.
Having to equip something to fix a stupid behaviour doesn't make it better.

Joshua: What monster let me go seeaaaaaaAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHH !
Shera: Pfff bunch of wimps, I'm sure there's nothing to be scaAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH !
Oliver: Oh well, when in Ruan, do like the Ruanians ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH !

What's your video card? I don't have that at all.

I'm on a Geforce GTX 750 Ti

(also, do you really need mipmapping? I mean if it runs fine without it, there's no reason to put it ON)

When I was much younger, I used to play Quake (1) a lot as it was my first massive online game. It helped that there were tons of F2P servers as opposed to other games that needed Kali or some other paid service.

Quake had a very interesting option in that you could put a music CD in your drive and the game would link specific songs to maps.
I must have played for at least a year using one of my brother's CD and that CD has been pretty much stuck in my head till even today.
I've been looking somewhat for that CD for about 2 decades never knowing exactly what it was. I had found individual songs but they didn't sound exactly the same as it was a remix CD.
My brother of course doesn't remember much about any of this (I probably listened hundreds of times more to that CD than him - the owner)

I've finally tracked it down!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BXUcHXNB_3k (sneak peek mix)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MuchDance#Much_Dance_Mix_.2795 (the tracks)
(luckily, none of the maps ever linked to the macarena *phew*)

The madness is finally over. It's nice to get closure.

The game looks alright, but honestly, when it comes to the amount of money they want to fund this baby...

...they're shooting far too high for something like this. Knock off a digit, and they should be good to go.

20k isn't that excessive. RPGs are pretty costly compared to anything else simply by their length.
They could probably halve that and bet on sales from the complete product... but I'd understand them playing it safe.

I have mixed feelings about dubbing.

I remember watching anime as a child (did not know they were anime back then) and they were dubbed and I was fine with it.
In fact, the voices I recall in my head for the characters are those I saw on French TV.

Now, I have trouble tolerating dubs because they are usually worst than the original so I'd rather just have subs.
Not just for Japanese -> English, but even English -> French.
It's just really hard to be as good as the original no matter the language.

(American/English dub is getting better along the years... but Quebec French dubs are still god damn awful. It's even worst when we get the France dub because the accent is not local at all)

The game has updates daily on Steam since I bought it. Seems they are working hard on fixing bugs.

Doing the escort mission where you take Hardt from Bose to Krone Gate. Can someone PLEASE explain how choosing to protect the rear was the wrong decision there? And how it counted as /splitting up/ when everyone was on the goddamn bridge? Previous /decision points/ have been all "Hey don't be brash" and the guy you were escorting was in the rear so ffs.

Your destination is on the other side of the bridge, why would you break through backwards to have to break through again to go forward?

Naruto was actually descent at the beginning.

I think the point where it started its downfall was the Naruto VS Sasuke fight at the waterfall.

I just did the Lighthouse part in Divinity Original Sin and I'm surprised some people have problems with it.

- I have an archer with a fire bow
- There are barrels of oil right next to the enemies
- in those enemies there's a bomb

Basically, after my first arrow, the battle was pretty much already won.

bigdeath, did you play DA:O and DA2 at the highest difficulty setting?
Mages crush warriors and rogues.

In DA:O, they are the only class that can freeze then shatter enemies which makes most normal encounters a lot easier.
For bosses, with 3 mages, you can keep an eternal rotation of tanking with Force Field and thus not even once take damage (you Force Field your 4th member, which should be the rogue)

It's even worse in DA2 because of hit rating which makes warriors and rogues do full damage maybe once every 16 hits.
So your huge damage spike is lowered to 1/4 of its damage because you just keep doing glancing blows.
The hit rating needed to hit bosses is so retardedly high, that even having a full set of gear for hit rating won't change a thing.
