That's not treat, that's the Michael Phelps diet.

I'm going to have to contest this point.  You most certainly do get bonuses for doing it.  That's how the whole song magic evolution mechanic worked this time around, and I believe it was also a prerequisite for unlocking super moves.  Sure, the game is probably easy enough that you could make it through it without using that, but it's only "optional" in the sense that you could choose to play any game without ever using your best moves.  You're making it sound like it's just cosmetic, which isn't true.

Actually, you misunderstood me. What I'm talking about is the 5 or so second full screen stripping animation. As long as you don't shake your controller on a peak, your reivateyl will strip and get to the next level, but you won't have the little cutscene.
Stripping (shacking the controller) on a peak or not peak doesn't change anything else.
It's also useful if you just want to hurry up.

Well it's certainly playable, but "very solid" seems like it's pushing it to me.  The characters lack any depth and the combat is a huge step back.  It tries to be a more ARPG-esque battle system but what it boils down to in practice is just button mashing.  Then there's all the completely unnecessary fanservice they shoved in the game.  Yes, AT was always heavy in the innuendo, but having characters literally strip off their clothes in the middle of battle can't be called innuendo anymore.  And since the revytails are so shallow to begin with this time around that's really the only thing you remember them for.

While still not great, the difficulty and hard option are much better than the difficulty of the first 2 games which end up as complete snore fest (even if you keep your starter equipment, I did that on both and it was still piss easy).
The 3d models are pretty well done considering the shift from 2d to 3d and ended up the best 3d in a Gust game to date (back then).
The music was still divine and the way you could equip 'song parts' in combat was a pretty neat addition (how come nobody ever mentions this one?).
The little unclothing animation was COMPLETELY avoidable in combat; it ONLY happens if you shake the controller when the graph is on a peak. Seeing there are way more 'not peaks' than 'peaks', if this thing offends you, it is trivially easy to skip (it is shown a handful of times in the story though, no skipping those). You don't get any special bonus for doing it on a peak either, so no loss at all.
The METHOD_HYMMELI cutscene just before the last dungeon is damn awesome.

I won't defend against your other points though as you are completely right. I'm just saying this game as some good points too.
I still think the biggest difference is you all went in expecting something better than 2 while me and CluelessWonder went in expecting Superman 64.

All this adults stealing lunches reminds me of something.

When I was in grade school, whenever I went to the toilet and somebody didn't flush their shit, I'd go I can't wait until I get to high school and people stop being this immature.
When I was in high school, whenever I went to the toilet and somebody didn't flush their shit, I'd go I can't fucking wait until I go to college and people stop being this immature.

I'm now at work, and people still don't flush their shit...

All of your reactions deterred me from giving the third a run (I still have the LE unopened on my shelf), although I too loved the first. The second wasn't quite as charming to me, with a weaker cast. Jaqui (from 2) however, was the exception... she was bad ass :)

Play it. I went in with really low expectations due to the hubris and ended up loving the game.
It's far from perfect, but it's still a very solid game.

Read "Cooking by the Book"

Clearly doing that whenever I get the game.

So I finally got around to watching Dragonball GT.
About as good as I expected =/

Totally on deck for me after rewatching all 291 eps of Dragon Ball Z this summer.

The first half is descent, the rest is just so bad... You can feel that they had no plot and no idea.
Everyone but Goku is even more useless than usual. The power levels make no sense at all. The ending is pure shit too.
All in all, watch the latest Goku VS God movie. It's much better than this shit.

Since I'm sick, I think I'll keep on going through my old catalogue.
Starting Bubblegum Crisis Tokyo 2040. Haven't watched the original Bubblegum Crisis though.
If the show is any good, maybe I'll try hunting it down.

Actually, I just realized how many animes I have... damn... I don't think my 12 year old self that discovered anime would have ever imagined this.
To think that the first thing I bought was the movie version of Macross Plus... (it's pure shit, they gutted half of the 4 OVAs to make it movie format)

Well, it's official, I'm sick. My throat is on fire and I have a fever.
Had to happen when I'm on vacation... sigh...

Cyan's (yes even Cyan) SwdTech

Only if his swordtech don't make you waste your time anymore and just act as a timer on Cyan only.

I was thinking about getting Final Fantasy 14.

Question:  Is it good on PS3 or should I go PC??

I'd say PC.
Some things are a hassle on PS3 (even with a keyboard)

that thing about 30 str adding 1% sounds like bs

On a PAL, somebody did a parse on a dummy of 0 and then 30 STR and the result is seriously only 1-2% more overall damage.
I'd wager that base weapon damage is by far the best way to increase your damage.
1770  Media / Multiplayer RPGs / Re: Final Fantasy XIV: ARR, a Thread Reborn on: September 23, 2013, 06:54:43 PM
The idea I've seen going around is to lvl both PAL and WAR.
Put 30 VIT on the PAL and he becomes your boss tanker.
Put 30 STR on the WAR and he becomes the trash mob kill them quicker.
