Saved the world and my daughter.

Biggest surprise: Recettear I guess
Great sales figure from a brand new company.
Other than that, 2010 didn't really impress me. I feel 2011 will be a completely different story though.

Biggest disappointment: Fallout New Vegas
The game is fun, but it is also buggy and truthfully nothing new. I like the new faction idea, but that is about the only thing new in the game. This could easily have been an expansion to Fallout 3 instead of a new game.

Part of me is curious about Katawa Shoujo, but another part of me thinks, "Well, I already work at a special needs school for multiply disabled high school  (and behaviorally disordered middle school) kids and see teenage boy-girl melodrama 5 days a week.  Do I really want to do that in a video game?"

Well, that's a valid point for not playing, but I think the way a game is designed can still make it fun. There's probably enough fiction in there to not make it like reality.
After all, I'm sure some farmers bought Harvest Moon, some lawyers bought Pheonix Wright and some Doctors bought Trauma Center.
These games are just too far from reality to make it look like your doing your day job.

EDIT: supporting proof using Trauma Center - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-dB8wBr76Jg

I just went to the Namco forums out of curiosity.

So ONE of the topics about Grace has 900+ pages with 14,000+ replies and nearly ONE MILLION views. Yeah, I'm sure Namco's right, nobody would buy that shit *sarcasm*

Gee, I wish I were gonna live to see the day when skin colour is a non-issue.

I fear that day will only come though when the earths only living inhabitants are a few cockroaches and one lonely alligator.

Give it around 50,000 years.  By then, we'll be so mixed up genetically we'll probably all be light brown.

(Still, I feel somewhat annoyed as a gamer to end up in a game that has all of three backgrounds... even if they are pretty ones.)

Oh yeah, just like how they take pictures of real places and slap them as backgrounds to pretend they worked on more than one background. More images, less work ;)

It's just an RGB value people, get over it.

And certainly there are other downloadable games with ridiculously high art budgets, like the more recent HiddenObject games. But those are usually made by studios, now, not individuals... individuals simply cannot manage those costs. It's all well and good to say that your game would sell better with a $100K art budget, but where are you going to get the $100K from?)

That point is so invalid. Many people do their own artwork and succeed.

Would they seriously not make money by bringing those here?
I know people keep saying Tales sales are abysmal, but given the jRPG state of the PS3... what else is there to play on it. It's like a black hole of cellshaded lighthearted jRPG. (minus the atelier serie)
