Interesting interviews on what went on when the police assaulted Kim's mansion. Both sides of the story.

Going overboard much?

I've been considering getting For Answer, since it's cheap, and From are certainly great devs.

How open to a newcomer is it?

4 Answer was my first one and I had fun.

My question is: is this a buy at release game or can I wait a bit?

Hating or loving it, FF7 raised the bar for the genre as a whole.

(who else now feels old?)

Finally tried the Fortune Summoner demo. I'm sorry Carpe Fulgur, but I just can't play a game with such terrible controls.
Attacking that flying enemy was an exercise of frustration.

Let it be known that I brought up the Zidane and Dagger moment.  See, I don't hate all JRPGs!!!

The exception proves the rule ;)

Definitely my favorite, but fortunately, I played the DC version.

Ryudo's a great protagonist, but I didn't like his shift of character near the end, though I guess it always goes that way for JDGAF protagonists.

What I like about Justin in Grandia 1 is that it does actually feel like a shift from Justin starting out as a little kid to more of an adult by the end of the game.

It's one of few games that immediately comes to mind for me where the character progression works really well.

I fully agree with this. Grandia 1 is the story of a child becoming a man.

(and then having TONS of sex with his older girlfriend... have you SEEN how many kids are shown in the ending? deeeyam)

Yay I has my game.

More importantly.... you has pizza.

I once ordered "all-dressed" pizza in New-York and they looked at me with a look of complete ignorance.
They thought I was crazy or something.

You know what I hated about ME2? No one had armour except Shepard and Garrus' missile-ruined armour. Oh and Grunt. But everyone looks the same in battle and on the Normandy except Shepard. At least in ME1 that wasn't the case. Made me wonder how characters like Miranda, Jack and Thane get through gunfights.

I used this texture mod while playing. Now Miranda having a gunfight while in complete vacuum made a lot more sense.

Miranda was actually too sexy for gunfights =/

Since we're messing around with Grandia 3, was anyone else really bothered by Ulf's Dynamite Rush?

The guy powers up, screams I'M LOADED WITH DYNAMITE!!! and then goes suicide bomber on the enemy.
My jaw hit the floor on how tasteless that was. Like really? His ultimate move is suicide bombing?

So yeah, anybody else or it's just me?

followed by a solid cast (except for Tio)

Tio was a great character when combined with the whole Mareg 'thing'.
(That and dear lord Lotus Flower was OP)

The battle system of G3 was enjoyable, but the difficulty level was really uneaven. Sometimes it was too easy, the next moment, it was tough as nails, and then back again. It almost made me seasick.

This is the big reason I never got it (though I'd like to get a cheap copy before the opportunity vanishes), I didn't care if the story was bad so long as the gameplay was great, and apparently it was... except with an erratic difficulty level undermining it. I'd rather have stupidly easy (Grandia II) than that.

I got mine for 15 bucks, and it was worth the money.

As I recall, there's 2 bosses and 1 random encounter that made me really cringe. The rest was OK.
The worst one was a boss that keeps spawning minions. If you aren't strong enough, you just fall back behind and end up not ever having time to attack the boss... and then it just goes down to sucking.
