I think people are shocked because it's almost like they've been trolled. The show's synopsis is:

Matsumae Ohana, a 16 year old girl, moves out of Tokyo and starts working at a hot spring hotel, which is located on a hill surrounded by cherry blossoms. Matsumae has yet to decide her future. The story will also feature other teenage girls who are looking for their dreams and excitements.

The genre is: slice of life

The opening is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cnp7j1X8p8Y

Does this look like anything that would include psychological, physical and sexual abuse in the first episode? (ok, I know groping girls in Japan is like saying hello, but nonetheless...)

Second, your avatar looks like a skeleton bursting through Goatse

I had a mouthful of lunch when I read this...  thank you, please.

Looks more like this guy's pre-fight peekaboo

It's low radiation water nowhere near deadly levels. Wouldn't it dilute in the ocean and pretty much be as nasty as the everyday sun exposure?

Was that a jab?

John makes strong counterarguments, and you either misinterpret him in a way I just don't get or you bleat out "but but MARKETING" as if that somehow negates any positive value it has. So, yeah, that was a jab.

Anyways! Looks like the deal's including the Cerberus DLC now, so it's easier to recommend now.

Here's the thing, did I ever say it was bad? Marketing is marketing. Are they going to sell more? yes. Is this nice for players? yes.
I acknowledge his points, that's why I tried explaining in a chronological manner so to make things a bit clearer.
I was even nice enough to not mention how this is also timed with the latest ME2 DLC.

Awh, Parn. :( We have enough room for two assholes. Maybe even three.

We can be the Human Centipede of RPG discussions.

We have room for assholes who can make strong arguments, not those who can't even make coherent ones.

Was that a jab?

How so if I may ask?
2602  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Get ME2 for PC FREE! With purchase of Dragon Age II! on: April 05, 2011, 04:30:04 PM
Easy, a lot of people don't know about the Cerberus code.

EDIT: I'll attempt to explain some more.

Dragon Age 2 pre-launch = super game
Dragon Age 2 pre-launch big site reviews = super game
PRE-ORDERS!
Dragon Age 2 demo = wait wha?
Demo feedback = Oh, we removed things for the demo, though the game rocks! Also, Free DLC people!
ORDERS!
Dragon Age 2 reviews = OK game
Dragon Age 2 user reviews = terrible game
People selling back their DA2
PROMOTIONS!

Marketing at its best.
2603  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Get ME2 for PC FREE! With purchase of Dragon Age II! on: April 05, 2011, 04:20:29 PM
You don't understand my logic because you apply my first statement to ME2 while it was referring to DA2.
2604  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Get ME2 for PC FREE! With purchase of Dragon Age II! on: April 05, 2011, 03:49:19 PM
Dragon Age 2 sales aren't very good when compared to recent Bioware titles and also, tons, and I mean TONS of them have already been sold back to stores. There's a wall full of used DA2 at my game store.
They are trying to sell more and make sure people don't buy discounted used DA2.

EA marketing at its best. Whatever we make, you'll buy it.

Family discipline exists

I can understand slapping if other methods aren't working, but the daughter was already feeling very sorry.
The slap on the employee girl is even worst. There is no way to excuse that one.

I watched episode 1 of Hanasaku Iroha.  I liked it, the animation *finally* did justice to Kishida Mel's art style (Sora no Woto was a mockery for that, it looked *exactly* like K-On).  What I liked most was that it was more down to earth: no magic, no silly schoolgirls flashing panties, no animal-girls, no silly crushes.  There was one "slapping scene" that I thought felt out of place -- and generally I think out main character is pretty lax about the situation she's been put into; but overall it's beautiful to look at and should tell a nice story.

I felt like punching the grandmother =/ Unless the show gets nicer, I'm afraid I won't watch it. Violence on kids is not something I support.
Episode one is mental abuse + verbal abuse + physical abuse... like what the hell?

Well, the grandmother being a cunt is one thing, and I already said the hitting thing felt slightly out of place.  I'm more curious how it's going to develop though, and like I said, it's the most down-to-earth thing this season, and sometimes the flowery and over-the-top shit gets on my nerves.  It will be easy to drop, but I kinda like the "novel" feeling I get from it and I hope for some good character development.

So, if i have to watch 26 episodes of girls working in a shop while being slapped and screamed at then sorry, this is not my cup of tea.

In a way it's understandable that she treats her granddaughter of a disowned daughter with some hostility but why others as well.
I can understand that you let them do some work most kids have to do some form of chores at home but slapping them in such a way and blaming them for a others mistake is going to far.
Then there was the way of how the cook treated Minko which i also found pretty outrages, i have worked at many jobs and can tell this if someone treats you in such a way tell them to do it themselves you should not let yourself get treated in such a way.

The Grandmother is too harsh, I wasn't expecting abuse in this.

This was the first time in my life I've wanted to beat up a woman...an elderly (factitious) woman at that. I'd rather sleep on a park bench like a bum than want to stay at an inn that treats their employees less than shit.

Yeah, I was got off guard not by the fact that she was strict and told Ohana she didn't like her but because she whacked her and Minko in the face.

Good training video on bad parenting. It was tough to watch at times
Quote
wow, its been awhile since i've seen a cast with so many unlikeable characters

What the fuck is wrong with the people in this show?

Awesome first episode. Yet so rage-inducing for me. So unlovable of a grandma.
I can't even believe that grandma is not being held for child abuse. Or employee abuse. She held such unhealthy principles, I cannot fathom how it is anyone's pleasure be working for her.

I watched episode 1 of Dog Days. I'm sure the show will be awful and retarded but I'll probably watch the whole thing just because the princess is so darn adorable.

Tiger and Bunny is the most promising show up to now.
