And I'll double post because I strongly believe what I'm about to say.

Watch The World God Only Knows 2 (after the first season of course. It's great too, but they challenged themselves and actually improved greatness)
This show is a spectacular adaptation of the manga. They didn't just change the medium but strove to bring it to greater heights... and succeeded.
I am still in awe at the last episode which is technically a filler episode. Yes, even a filler episode was done wonderfully.

I can only hope that when they make season 3, they will put as much effort, for the end result was sublime.

Be warned that the Claymore anime never really ended. Kind of like the Berserk anime. It went to where the manga was at back then and then finished...

I do.
Also, when they modernize the old characters, they make them look ridiculous. Have you seen the 3D Kefka and Butz? What the crap.

A friend of mine lent me Growlanser: Generations. I played the shit out of the first game (so the second I guess) this weekend and nearly finished it. This game reminds me of Final Fantasy Tactics in the way that most story battle are relatively easy while random encounters are brutal.
I'm at the last battle and I failed it 3 times already. I hate the last mission with a passion. The map is completely to the enemies' advantage, your party scattered, tons of enemy mages hidden behind walls, it's timed and you have to defeat the boss that is behind all the other enemies and just walking there takes more than 3/4 of the time allowed to do the mission.

oh, and if your hero dies, it's game over and he starts alone on the map with a single ally against everything for like 1/4 of the time allowed on the mission.

Sometimes I hate shopping for RPGs since they are often overpriced or out of stock. And I doubt anyone here will give up those games because they know how valuable they are.

Your best bet for rare stuff is to make gamer friends that trust you enough to lend you their precious.
2601  The Rest / General Discussions / Re: Have you ever returned a game you bought? If so, which game was it? on: June 27, 2011, 10:07:10 AM
No, I keep them just so I can look at them and go What was I thinking buying THAT.
Self torture at its best.

Oh yeah, that was funny how in the original serie they went past the manga and completely made up a cardboard villain and ended the serie in a spiral of shit.
Wait, that's not funny, that's sad =/

Ano Hi Mita Hana no Namae o Bokutachi wa Mada Shiranai ended exactly how it should; a giant tear jerker episode.

Yup, you're about to get to the worst moment of the game.

I did, and actually, back then, my room was on the main floor =/

It's a mix of immediate surroundings and people met through MMOs (hundred or so people). If this is all anecdotal, as you say, would that mean I know tons of losers (myself included in a couple of years -_-U) ?
Also, for reference, I'm looking at the 30-40 age group.
2606  The Rest / General Discussions / Re: Do gamers see time differently? on: June 23, 2011, 03:49:05 PM
I matured perfectly well, thank you very much. >.>

No personal insult meant to anyone (if there is even one to begin with). Just an observation from the wide variety of people I know.
If you look at the usual steps in life (highly debatable I know): leave home, have kids and buy a house; I can't help but notice that the group of people that play video games are lagging behind the others. Most people are at the age where they now have one or two kids and are starting to consider buying a house, yet the video gamers have no children nor house. Worst, some amongst them are still living with their parents actually.
This makes me question: why the correlation. I mean, I'm not too found of the gamers = losers argument.
Maybe my 'test group' is too small or non-representative. Have you observed different results (if so I'd be interested to hear about it)

P.S. I'm not saying that everyone should follow the 'usual life model', everyone has the right to be different and to do whatever they want.

To me Tales games have always been at the very least 'good' games. If I have the system to play it, I will buy it. They are worth the money they cost.
Why their sales are always terrible puzzles me every single time (especially considering that Square hasn't done anything great for a while and still sells games by the million)
2608  The Rest / General Discussions / Do gamers see time differently? on: June 23, 2011, 10:51:52 AM
Here's a question I've been pondering on for a while. When I think about my hobby, I'm thinking: "I really want that game next year." "We'll probably get Diablo 3 after 3 or 4 years of development." "14 years in the future I might buy DNF." (ok, that last one is more of a joke)
Point of the matter, we are easily used to waiting years for what we want. Those are very lengthy awaiting which I'm not sure many domains or hobbies match.

Now, taking the above and making a parallel with the social myth (?) that gamers are 'eternal kids', makes me consider the question: do we mature slower since our perception of time is warped?

graf_chokolo, another akin to George Hotz, probably going to jail.
I think the rage against Sony is about to be refueled if that happens.

I want a picture of his face when he gets to THAT place.
