I think the biggest problem of mini-games are that they are too long.
Triple Triad was fun because a game lasted about a minute maximum. As opposed to a Blitzball game which is like what? 12 minutes?
At that point, it's not a mini-game anymore, it's an entire game...

Also, actual rewards are always fun.

Tales of Eternia had a mini-game too... but it was so optional and useless I don't even remember what it was.

I'll always remember something from 1st year primary school.
It was recess and everyone was playing ball. The teacher of course (a nasty woman) was telling everyone to be careful and stuff. At one point another kid loses balance or something and falls and scrapes on the asphalt. He's got a bleeding knee and is crying. She walks up to him, grabs him by the arm, lifts him up and starts dragging him away inside to the nurse while going "See! I told you not to run!"

That was... something...
I have a terrible memory and forgot most of my childhood, but that, I'll probably never forget.

The FF9 card game?

I thought some indie developers did make an actual software or internet one, no?

The FF9 card game sucked. You didn't get anything for playing it, and gameplay was annoying based on random chance.

It didn't matter to me; I liked both card games at first; but later players weren't worth the effort.  Maybe I just sucked at it, and kinda forgot about the game half way through, then fell behind, but man, the rules killed me in later FF8.

That's why when you go in space you spread the local rule of "no rule"

No, I think he's right. Hotz cannot own or touch any Sony product. At least from what I got from the mumbo jumbo... which I suck I deciphering... (seriously, those things don't even look like English anymore)

Character classes, gaining new powers, quests, chatting with NPCs, a morality system, branching endings… this sounds very RPG-ish…
We know, but the Capcom team has been very delicate about how they promote this title and the word "role-playing game" has never once (not even on accident) escaped their lips. They are very insistent that this is simply an "action adventure" title.

Why are they so afraid of calling it an RPG? Is that part of Japan's great westernization plan?

When I came home my cousin told me she bought some groceries.

I made some beef stew when I simmered it with a lid.

I'm thinking of inviting someone during lunch tomorrow.

You're lucky, the only thing I could do with the leftovers in the fridge was cook some Daigaku-imo by "Deep frying them"

You don't need any alcohol to bawl with Grave of the Fireflies, it just happens.

I had high expectations for The World God Only Knows 2, but after watching episode 1, I am amazed that they shot way past even my highest ones. The presentation is good, the script follows the original manga enough while being nicely adapted the anime format and the visuals are out of this world.
Just look at the lightwork in the first scene... truly amazing.

Yeah you could be grinding mobs pointless like a schmuck with that "Free" pack, not experiencing any worthwhile or fun content.

If lvling is all you care about, yes. But some of us enjoy the fun unique quests and features the game offers rather than worrying about a number. The level I am is the least of my concerns in lotro.

We understand you love the game, but please stop denying everything we're saying. You're basically not listening to anything we've said.
First of all, if you did read, you'd know that we've said you cannot quest when you leave Bree land. The starter zones (for every race) and Bree land are all free to play, but the moment you complete those, the rest of the areas pretty much require payment to do anything there other than killing random mobs on the world map. Although, if you play very scarcely, the free zones might keep you entertained for a while. If not here is the actual paychart:

The quest packs enable quests + dungeons for those zones. Expansions do the same for the zones in the expansion.
The rest is optional, but I heavily suggest the following:
- Skirmishes (they are fun and also very rewarding)
- 4th bag
- 5th bag
- Gold cap removal
- Trait slot (Virtue, Race, Class and Legendary)

Either a lot of recent RPG writers are master of figure and style and are forced to write terrible stories or they are just terrible.

Ok, I read a 'for dummy' version of that thing and I understand what it means now.

Sucks if you sponsored his defense hoping for legalized homebrew or otherOS I guess =/

Actually... how do you make a murder & mystery anime where at least 50% of the audience knows who the killer is?
Or are they going for the Columbo thing? (that would rock)

You might want to try masseffectsaves (http://www.masseffect2saves.com/)
They might have one that is similar to what you did.

Seems like this is getting a lot of praise. Do you need to have played Yakuza 1-3 before this one? If not, I might look into it.
