Went to Japanese market today and got great food. They had taiko drummers just pounding away in the middle of the store so it was fun to eat to that. Sounded like some Shogun warriors were marching through.

Made some fried chickpeas for a party snack. Off to dinner, bringing some Canadian ice wine I've been saving, then to a casual  NYE party.  Have a safe and fun one peeps

My gaming has been light and erratic. Didn't finish much

1) My personal game of the year is the jackbox games bundle available on the new platforms and pc. I started talking about it in the general games forum but since then  they added (through a new bundle) more games and questions. Those games are ridiculously fun group games. Look them up

For single player it's Dark Souls 2. I played a ton of it and enjoyed the asymmetrical multiplayer. I need to get back to Dark Souls 1.

2) Game of the year has to be Dragon Age Inquisition. I love everything. The lore, the maps, the detail within them, the sidequests, the story, and the dialog are great.

3) Biggest disappointment: Yet again buying tons of games I would barely have the time for.  I bought Smash for Wii-U and haven't opened it yet. It's not that I don't like Smash it's just that my house isn't the hangout place for gamers. We always go to some other places.

Ok going to repeat myself. unbroken is amazing

Saw hobbit 3 last night and I liked it. But I was drinking whiskey through it so by the end I had no idea what was up. Best part was Smaug. They did such a good job on him.... Him lurking over the burning city was some downright great special effects

can we co-opt this thread for a general "best of last gen discussion" because we haven't done that yet

3d world actually works as coop? I remember previous "coop" Mario games where you were "tethered " and we kept killing each other :-/

yeah it's not as fuck your neighbor as new mario world or whatever that was called. there are a few secrets that require two players

same for Rayman Legends. The new Rayman games are so beautiful and fun and supposedly the wii u is the best version of that one.

3d world is a beautiful game. Tropical freeze is also great but not co-op

...or, ya know, I could just use Vivienne as a knight enchanter and tank the dragon BY HERSELF!!!!  Good lord, that class is so overpowered it's almost stupid.  Didn't have to swig one potion.  Her barrier stayed up the whole time.  It was a glitchy ass fight, however.  The camera kept spazzing and I had to stay in action mode the whole time.

Is there a way to make sure that Vivienne only uses the knight enchanter sword skill?  She gets really stupid and stays in the back lobbying puny fireballs unless I direct her manually.

How do you get specializations for party members? some of mine have them and some don't

also, can you respec party members

As much as I want to make a wisecrack about good riddance to bad comedies or something, I can totally understand why people have a problem with it in principle (unless it had been an Adam Sandler movie, in which case I would be applauding- even I have my limits).

Am I to understand that you said Deathly Hallows doesn't have enough content to fill itself out elegantly? If so, that's crazy talk because that book is the most satisfying conclusion to a major series that I've read. Did the movie-makers capture that magic? That's up to debate but there's certainly more than enough going on to fill up two movies.

The Deathly Hallows movies were so full of nothing they needed to have like half a movie filled out with a ridiculous laser battle between Harry and Voldemort as opposed to what was probably intended as a suspenseful "less is more" thing in the book.

Unlike you I didn't like the book very much though, so maybe that colors my view of the movies too.

Also I saw the last Hobbit movie.

It wasn't very good.

That's cool. But yes I loved the book, and it's not my favorite of the series. However I cried through the last 100 pages or so of Hallows. Just sobbed like a quivering mass of nerve endings

I love the winter holiday aspect of entertainment and get-togethers. i'm not religious but that hardly matters unless you want it to. the only actual Christians (people that live and breathe the thing, and not just say they are) are a huge group of Korean/Chinese people. Korean people can be really zany about religion

I've never seen It's a Wonderful Life but I can do a good James Stewart impression.
