A dark comedy from the 50s about life in a German WW2 prisoner camp. It takes place during Xmas and despite some old movie tendencies that hurt the movie it is one of my all-time favorites. It's not a realistic portrayal of life in a POW camp but I'm sure some of the things, like escape tunnels, dealing with the guards, etc, are based off of true stories.
It was one of the few movies my dad and I watched together with any regularity.

I'm no student of film of the 50s but I have to imagine a comedy about ww2 so close to the end of the war must've been a scene in the 50s
I just bought it on amazon on bluray for cheap.
