I wasn't that far into Ass Creed 2 but I did a lot of exploring and collected tons of shit. I just picked up something and the game tried doing it's autosave but said "the device used to store data is no longer present." I backed out to main menu and my save is gone completely.
Went to the memory utility on the dashboard and the save is gone totally.
I'd like to start over but if this happens again fuck it.
Leyviur is right about development cycles. Sure square is on the longer end of things, but for the time it takes for a jrpg to be developed for the japanese market, then translated and released in the West seems to be incredibly long.
Based on what I've read about XSEED's translation of Trails and how long that took, I'm surprised Japan hasn't remodeled their business structure to be more aggressive in the West. Before things got to this state, they seemed to take a wait and see approach about what games to export, but by then maybe interest died down.
With all the PS2 rpgs we got, they should've went for the jugular and developed games with the west in mind. I'm not saying change their style, but at least develop a western version in parallel so someone doesn't have to approach the game after it's done and translate it.
