First: Let me apologize for yet another FF thread. Now that we got that out of the way let me give you a gif of welcoming:


There was a brief talk about a marathon of FF games in another thread and I wanted to open up a real discussion. Why FF? Well those are the games I got hooked on RPGs with and I missed out a lot of good ones. Also, FF games are on tons of platforms and are cheap as fuck, making them accessible for a group of people.

I think it'd be fun to start the same time as other people in something like this, and maybe even have some sort of friendly competition. Of course the first person to finish all the games would be held in the highest esteem around here for being so devoted to the cause.

I think the games played should be FF's 1-Vi. That keeps this at a sort of realistic goal because 7 starts to get out of hand IIRC.

So here we can talk about when to start and what are the pros and cons of each version.

Getting started in either January or February would be a good idea. That'd give time for anyone who wants to join for tracking down and getting the games. Starting later would also give time to complete any games or whatever.

So is this stupid? Is this rad?

I think I'm in the 3rd dungeon. The one where you team up w/ the one faction and sneak attack on the other.

Like I said I enjoy the combat, love the style, dig the story, and the challenge is just right, but when it takes me forever to go down a hallway to find out there's nothing there I get a little miffed.

It's not enough to make me stop playing to see the rest of the story.

I recently graduated nursing school and just finished my license exam and passed.

So I'm applying for jobs and hoping for the best.

So in this free time I hit the gym, help my folks w/ house work (put in a new fence after a windstorm wrecked theirs, and patched up the foundation on one side of the house), help fix up +1's condo (painting, tile, knocking out walls) and post on the Fan!

Right now I'm bored as fuck. I need me a jrb.

I'm going to say... the story of DDS is awesome so far and I love the combat system...but something about the game is really keeping me from getting balls deep.

Maybe it's the fact that I can take one or two steps and get in another battle?

As for what I give others:

niece and nephew get cash
my parents: I come down and cook and clean for them on xmas and thanxgiving. that's enough for them
+1: we have a deal not to spend too much on each other. So I'm going to get some pictures printed up that she wants framed, a funny comic from invisiblehairsuit.com (that's our kind of humor), and probably some sort of kitchen or house gadget

I'm going to nix all those SMT games and axe for either odin sphere or a FF game to get me started on my marathon of FF games.

The PSP 2 may or may not be coming out within a year or so but that doesn't make the PSP dead.

There are enough quality games on it to keep you busy for years. But there's no word for backwards compatibility yet

I loved the end of 4.0 when they find Earth. That was supposed to be the actual end of the show because of writers strike etc.

They came back for 4.5 and in general all those episodes are awesome but the actual end is kind of hokey.

One thing I wish they did better in the show was indicate how desperate they are. I mean throughout the series they're drinking fine whiskey and they seem to have all the comforts. Sure they show some of the civilian ships and how they're ghettos basically but you don't get the idea of the fleet being on their last string.

I probably would've had a jolt if I went into that expecting a body and get a live one when I open the door.
