Just got a big, gorgeous complete Sherlock Holmes book. Cost a pretty penny, but I just couldn't resist.

Also picked up all the books in a Song of Ice and Fire

Yeah there's no doubt better prices can be had online. But if you're in the market for a system and don't feel like fighting on ebay for something that might not look exactly right these old stores are best.

The one I was at today had numerous nes, genesis, atari, colecovision, a fucking vectrex, jaguar, snes, master system, 32x, etc and so on and so forth.

For pretty good prices too, all boxed w/ controllers and a game.

I'm playing Resident Evil for the 1st time since it came out...

edit: was having a damn blast w/ Res Evil, got used to the controls, played Moonlight Sonata, etc. then I tried to save and my fucking memory card was filled.

Risk saved games nontheless.

My local non-corporate game store is full of jackasses who sell mainly Fifa and guitar hero type games.

I will not advertise them.

I'm feeling rather spritely as of late and rode the bus down to a retro-games shop on Clark by Belmont street in Chicago.

The place is PACKED with all consoles, games, controllers, that you can think of. They have basically every system you can think of, and tons of games for each. Some cartridge or disc only, but a lot of them in the original box.

The place is big, staff is friendly (why wouldn't they be, they work in a fucking awesome store), and prices are reasonable. If you want the SNES chrono trigger in a mint box, you'll pay for it.

I picked up
G-Police (ps1) in the case w/ manual for $3
Resident Evil (in the original "big" ps1 box w/ manual) for $25
Goldeneye (game only) $15 bux.

If you buy a disc game they put it into a fancy machine that cleans and repairs the disc.

Right down the block is an amazing comic book shop as well

So I know I'll be a regular customer there.

One thing of note, their PS1 and PS2 selection wasn't as mind blowing as I thought it'd be. But they did have a decent amount, just not a lot of rare looking RPG type games.

Did you hear the douchechilling song during the credits?

That's actually a game I would pay that much for. Something like earthbound... not so much.

Guardian heroes has HIGH playability

I didn't do anything bad in that sense, just picked a career i didn't like and went to an expensive engineering school for a few years before I realized I was hating the field but loving the good drunken times. (still paying that off)

then i decided I wanted to be a cop. took the chicago police exam. going through that took years. then they told me I failed the psych exam. Which is bullshit (seriously, it was supposed to be a 45 min interview w/ a psychologist or someone. I walked in, they confirmed who I was, then told me to get lost.) excuse to not hire anyone they don't want. For those not in the know CPD is basically only hiring minority candidates, which is funny since us white people are the minority in chicago (both as citizens and government employees)

Then FINALLY I decided on nursing. That was one year of pre-reqs, two years of schooling, then after I graduated it took me a damn year to land a job. And that's where I am today.

On the plus side, I'm in the best shape of my life, have a great +1, and a finally into a career that I like and in a few years will be making awesome money w/ decent hours.

Wow I didn't think I'd give my life story there.

THis looks like a good game to switch off guys with a friend.

See someone fuck up a level then take over and give it a shot.

I've had horrible vision my entire life. I 1st got glasses in preschool and I can vividly remember life before glasses. Everything was all muddy looking.

One time we're on a family vacation (some Revolutionary War battlefield) and I was hysterical because I thought I lost my parents. Well they were like 10 feet away and I couldn't make them out. That's pretty much we all knew I needed em. The actual day when I got them was a strange experience. From going not being able to see shit to being able to see shit... mind blowing. I felt like some mole person being exposed to light for the 1st time.

(mole people staring john agar)

Heh - I'm almost the same way.  I've had three years of post grad and got a diploma.  Nothing worse than starting university as a 22 year old with 4 years to go still.  I know it's for the best, and I'll be getting a wicked education (I hope it's enough)... but it's so tiring.  I had trouble getting into it my first semester, I was lazy and unmotivated to start back, well, the "start".  I'm working through it though - beats looking for a job with just a diploma. Even 22 seemed a bit young to start a career!!  I want my education (just wish I had more money for it)!!

There are plenty things worse than being 22 and going to college. TRUST ME.

I've made some bad moves in my early 20s. Well as it stands I'm finally on track (if this job comes through. it looks good) and I'm going to go back to school part time starting in the summer in a program for working adults. (I'm an adult?!)

My god Guardian Heroes was amazing. I only played an import version (was it ever localized?) so I had no idea what was going on.
