Golden Sun was chosen over all three Etrian Odyssey games? What in the world?

The battle demo has been released and there is a date for Japan, October 11th.

There are also some new screens featuring the 3rd character Idea:

Hopefully Silicon Studio can deliver a better game than Matrix did, they certainly have done justice to Yoshida's artwork with 3DS.
3  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Xenoblade + The Last Story on: March 31, 2011, 01:12:07 PM
If Last Window (Europe but no NA release) is an example to go by, I doubt we'd be getting this.
At least now importing is an option. I'm ecstatic about this news! **** YEAH!!!!!!!
4  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Devil Survivor 2 on: March 26, 2011, 11:19:23 PM

I know you're not being serious (and referencing another series) but there is no major ties like that between the plot according to the director:
Devil Survivor 2 has been developed over two years to be the team's "final masterpiece" for the DS. Takada noted that the game's scale has expanded from the original, which took place in central Tokyo, to all the major cities of Japan. Those who did not play the original Devil Survivor shouldn't worry too much, as the game has a completely new story with no connections to the original or Over Clock.

That's especially if they announce that successor at E3, if they don't these could still come out a bit later (or at least TLS could). It'll be a crying shame if we don't get Xenoblade at the very least though, I continued to follow those GAF impressions for TLS and it seems like the better game overall between the two. Regardless of that which game is better though, I'm really starting to wonder why Nintendo even acquired MonolithSoft if they don't localize this game. What was the point on getting Tetsuya Takahashi and his team make games like Soma Bringer and Xenoblade?

Wow this thread exploded.Very good.

I guess no one here cares for Symphonia 2.I must have been the only one who finished it least of all enjoy it.

There is no 2 before Dawn of the New World, if it was 2 they would've put it there. Even with the English release, which surprised me a bit.

Xillia looks kinda weird graphically honestly. They were talking about this on GAF too, but is that suppose to be a river? This team doesn't seem to use shaders with this graphical style very well. And the characters in that city screen don't look better than Graces F either.
8  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Radiant Historia on: February 03, 2011, 08:47:11 PM
Even if folks don't dig Radiant Historia as much as I do, you really can't go wrong with it.  It's Atlus in-house, has members of the Shin Megami Tensei and tri-Ace teams on it (the game is not like either SMT or tri-Ace), and has a killer Yoko Shimomura soundtrack.

But, yes, 2011 is looking to be an insane year for gaming.
tri-Ace did not work on this game. Hiroshi Konishi is a freelance artist and Satoshi Takayashiki works at a company called Headlock. They were only involved with the character/world art design though, like you said the game was made by Atlus in-house.

That looks pretty incredible. :o
10  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Namco Bandai is teasing something (Tales of Graces F/Vesperia localization?) on: February 02, 2011, 12:52:03 PM
I've been more interested in Graces F than Xillia personally so I'm glad they're bring it over.

Jesus... I don't really follow development teams. =P

Anyways.  If this is like KH: BBS; I'll be happy.
You should. :p

For instance, the team that is making Versus made both numbered KH games but not BbS since that was made by a team at Square-Enix Osaka.

Paper Mario and Kingdom Hearts 3D. Actually along with Layton vs. Wright and Resident Evil: Revelations that's all I'm excited for on right now on 3DS, but I'm keeping an eye on MML3 too.

Here's all 3 on one page and detailed interviews with the directors on each game/trailer are linked to after them:

Speaking of Graces. This is probably the Team Destiny's 2nd game to ever be localized (does Tales of Eternia count? If so, then 3rd).
Neither count, Kazuya Ishizuka started doing game design with Destiny 2. This will be the first Team Destiny game we'll be getting since Hometek/Sony hated 2D last gen.

Finally looking forward to seeing what the their take on the battle system is like.
15  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Nier on: December 07, 2010, 07:29:34 PM
If they can't get Yoko Taro on board they shouldn't bother.

Well, games aren't 1 man efforts in most cases, certainly never in the case of a retail release for PS3/360. Really depends on if the others there can carry on the spirit of the work.
We're talking about cavia, not exactly a developer known for its talent.
