Beat the final boss on my first try.  I guess I overdid it on preperation after that other boss.  :P

3 chars in front doing concentration to bane skills
wizard doing either fast cast > multi-hit or quad bolt.  holy shield if needed.
Healer doing heals and holy shield.

Mars died so I brought out Hermes who was doing some good damage too.

lol.............so...I grinded for a couple hours before even trying again...I figured I would level up some demons I wanted to use that were low level (Hermes mainly).  After thinking about it I decided the best combo for my party's pure offense would be Mars, Hermes, Pluto and that's what I used.  Then I tried using the 2 artifact gems I had with a gem+1 and loading until I got something good....and when I got a set of gems with Carnage EX I thought "oh that sounds like that could do the trick" so I grabbed that one.

Then I bought lots of sword gems and used the swords as fodder to upgrade the Demon Slayer to +29 so it had 376 attack...and I got a Elder Mattock+22 also with 376 atk (lucky drop at a circle).  Put those on Gazer with dual wield (got lucky and found this a long time ago).

Then I finally said ok lets do a dry run and see what turn he does the position change on and what turns he does the heals on.  I was fully intending to just do defense and buffs until the first heal but....on the 1st turn mars did about 3300 with one hit and I thought "oh.....maybe I should press this afterall." Then Mars did it again the next turn for another 3300 (it wasn't even in rage) or so and I landed Jupiter Bane with Gazer and dual magic quad bolt with my wizard (mars died during this turn after attacking lol).  Then 3rd turn I set my Gazer and my Samurai to carnage EX but the Gazer at least didn't even get to do his cause it died after one wimpy hit from something (prob my wimpy samurai).  So yeah.....it got killed really badly lol.  Mars wins again

also I was wrong about what assasin skill I had, the one I've had since the start of the game is sneak attack lol.

Shadow assault is actually the first artifact I ever got.  I didn't know the damage went up the linger they stay hidden.  I even stopped using it cause it would mess up my attack memory(for pressing triangle) lol.

For demons I usually try to rage Mars and use Chronos and neptune for the passive buffs.  Someone in gamefaqs was saying Jupiter is good so maybe the strongest offensive combination for me would be Mars, Jupiter, Pluto.  I'd have to grind jupiter and pluto up a bit though.

I did know about pre-emptive whistle but it is still annoying spending a turn on it.  Should I just cast buffs until the first heal happens then just unload on it?

ok for a serious question, I finally hit a roadblock with the Ether Mage or whateaver it's called.  I went on gamefaqs and there were a couple topics about it.  Sounds like it is the boss right before the final boss.  They where saying the easiest way is with a ninja/assassin but I don't have one.  I saw ppl say to get the artifact for snipe ex and bane skills (i have the bane skills).  I  tried it a couple times and I ended up just giving up and hitting home button to get out (it's not actually that strong against me offensively)

My characters are level 32-33 with

gazer, paladin, samurai, wizard, healer

playing on default difficulty (cool).  any tips?  what artifacts should I try to get so that I can do this with my current characters?  what's the healing pattern?  every 4th turn?

Any questions, let me know!

did you lose your ability to view women as people and masturbate to the game?  :P

I'm gonna get it.  They still haven't announced a price but I'm expecting $30 or something.  I read the reception in japan and from importers wasn't very good but I'll give it a shot.  Saw on gamefaqs there are some crashing issues -_-  Like Witch and Hundred Knight *sigh*

I've only beaten Mars so far.  I have a paladin, healer, and just made samurai.  Not sure what to round the party out with yet but I need more money first anyway.

Alright I finally beat the game and got all endings.  I am definitely disappointed with this game.  The dungeons and combat are so freakin awful urghhhhhh.  So glad I'm finally done.  If it wasn't for a couple (sadly not most) of the girls being fun to talk to I would have never finished this game.  Narika and Chloe's events are so awful I think I've suffered brain damage.  Ellie best girl though :)

Edit: bah nevermind
26  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Conception II on: April 23, 2014, 12:27:12 PM
that's cool, I took a break from it for about 2 days but I'm in early chapter 6 still.  Gonna finish this before I get started with Demon Gaze

I got the weapon upgrades cause of the story and tried Torri's new special move but wow was that lame.   It looks the same as the move she's had the entire game except uh....the camera moves to show them at the end of it?  So lazy.

The RPGfan review is up and I'm surprised the score is so low after all the positive things importers said (though I guess I shouldn't be).  I love the part complaining about the fan service and it says "None of this is relevant to real life..." What is that even supposed to mean?  Why should it be?

Then it expresses concern that the game may make the player lose their ability to treat people as people rather than objects.  Normal people can keep fantasy and reality seperate.  Ridiculous comments.

do you really need 100% of events to get a girl's ending?  I would think some of them wouldn't be required.  That would also mean you can't keep a save near the end of the game and get multiple endings from it because of the choices where you can only pick one girl.
29  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Conception II on: April 21, 2014, 06:27:14 PM
I'm doing a lackluster job with the quests and side dungeons myself :p

You get a "pick a girl" choice after the 4th boss and another after the 5th boss.  It would be a good idea to keep a save at these choices so you can try the other events and get them in the database.  They probably don't affect the ending.  I haven't looked up how to get endings cause I might see a spoiler but I assume getting most of the endings just requires max affection with the girl and making an obvious choice.  This game has a very straitforward feel to it so I doubt it's more complex than that.
30  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Conception II on: April 21, 2014, 11:57:02 AM
I've noticed something about the database.  You know how it will shade out the choices you didn't make and you will only be able to pick what you have previously selected in the database?  Well....if you're at one of the choice points where you pick a girl for an event and you pick one then after the event make a new save continuing from that.  If you then load the choice point save you can pick a different girl than do the event and you don't even have to save it cause it autosaves to database when you do an event.  The interesting thing is that if you do this then the only girl with shaded out options will be the one you actually picked and saved to the file you are continuing from, the others will have all their options available in the database.
