Vampire Master Dark Crimson.  A manga by the guy who does the Growlanser games and Plastic Little, Satoshi Urashihara.  Apparently he's releasing an artbook, and I decided to check out a manga he did (I remember liking Plastic Little way back when).

Aside from the fact the man's style is really dated, he draws naked women beautifully, I guess (them nipple details).  And while I only read a few pages of the manga, because it was stupid, I find the man hilarious for his dated-ness.  What I loved about some of the manga and anime from the 90's was the either "convenient censorship" (like a hair strand or some ripping clothes covering up the nipple and vag) or on the other hand, how the story would have it's females get naked *at any cost*.  There is the minor third type, which is framing a scene to make sure it shows the breasts than the actual person speaking being centred.  Some evil dude will just whisk the girl's clothes away.  Some demon will summon dark-tentacle-like things to raise her shirt -- anything to show nudity.

If you don't mind the boobies, I recommend VMDC for being a porn but not crossing that bridge completely: hilarity ensues.

(I actually think I spent more time typing this than reading ti though)

I read some of that a long time ago.  Love the guy's art to death but he cannot write his way out of a paper bag.  If he wrote the story for Growlanser those games would be automatically ass, so it's good that he only did the artwork lol.

Also, the game is trying too hard to be "EPIC"

I'm no epicologist, but I reckon that was the point.

that's true

I saw my brother play this and it was basically QTE BATTLE: THE GAME

QTEs aren't necessarily bad it's just that if there are too many too often it gets annoying.  Also, the game is trying too hard to be "EPIC"

The boss fights are the best parts of the game.  This is one of those games that I think would actually be better if it was shorter.  The regular battles aren't that varied, especially later on.  By then you've encountered all the enemy types (there aren't that many) and you're just fighting them to clear the map and get exp/items.  Feels almost like filler compared to the exciting boss battles.

I don't think I ever give games another chance.  My decisions are final!!!  wahahahaha

Well this is more of a "normal" SRPG from the looks of it so maybe you'll like this one better.

wow.  I was barely keeping up with the news on it at all and I just so happened to look on April 1st?  too good

I played Act 1 a long time ago and liked it.  I might download this not sure.  I was kinda annoyed when I read they were gonna do some kinda subscription thing to get full functionality (like being able to save anytime you want).  Did they actually go through with any of that?  Or do you just download it and get everything?

edit:  whatever I'll find out one way or another lol.  *begins download*
edit2:  looks like they didn't do it, I can save anywhere.  guess people told them it was a stupid idea and they gave up.  no one wants save checkpoints in a game like this

the fact that anyone is even talking about the PSX version in here is making me go "wtf"

Cyril's got it.  I'm just not interested in western games for the most part.  Atlus hasn't really been picking up as many cool 3rd party Japanese games in last couple years and I've been disappointed by the lack of any new Growlanser releases (though that may change soon).  I started liking Xseed a lot ever since the Falcom partnership and they prettymuch took Atlus's place as my favorite publisher.  Atlus's mods aren't always so nice on the forums too (though a lot of times it's cause of people saying stupid stuff)

that Cursed Crusade demo though......*shivers*

I know right.  lol

The red dress she wears in the game is rather lovely, but it's odd that they would make the front part see-through like that just for guys to go "ah-tee-hee-hee." This is more of a criticism on what's wrong with anime these days than the game, I guess.

I haven't played it for a few days (I was on a trip to Vegas over the weekend), but I am hoping that the dungeons in the second phase will be bigger and more interesting.

I really like her dress.  I'm cool with the see-through but I think only middle schoolers will go "ah-tee-hee-hee" lol.

The dungeons don't change dramatically but the floors do get larger and the background graphics do get more detailed/unique.
