31  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: RPGs for the Sega Saturn on: March 15, 2014, 12:58:20 AM
Maybe I  didnt make the first post clear enough but I already have Albert Odyssey Panzer Dragoon Saga and Shining Force 3 along with many other games that arent RPGs. I actually started to get a lot of non RPGs and thats what I mainly wanted the Sega Saturn for I just figured Id pick up a few that were on the system and thats why I bought those three. Im towards the end of Shining Force 3 and just started Panzer Dragoon Saga had a few questions about the game actually. Are all of the items that have a yellow icon (the useable items have a green icon) just to sell to the shops because they all have different descriptions that are kinda weird. By the way the first disc was about 2 hours long but I already knew going into the game that its pretty short. The game is fun to just move around but so far nothing big in the game has happened. Also does anyone remember what the 4 different dragon forms do I already know what the agility the attack and defense forms do its just the last one but as far as the game itself so far so good

It's been a while so I can't remember about the items.  Spiritual form is for berserk skills.  I think it makes them stronger or cost less, I forget.  It raises your BP more on level up.

...and PDS can't be overrated :P

that is the strangest looking "walking" animation I've seen in a while
33  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Magus on: March 01, 2014, 04:19:12 AM
It really sounded that way.  The fixation on skin color instead of just saying something like "why not have a customizable character?" is telling.  Black skin wouldn't magically make a generic character design appealing.  "Why did the main character have to be a white male?"  I dunno, why did he have to be human at all?  Why can't he be a flying lobster?  It's a stupid question.

Funny review until it brings up controlling a white male like that's some horrible thing.  Replace "white" with "black" in the review text and tell me how that looks.  Ridiculous.

I am pretty hype for Battle Princess but it's a shame it's download only.  Somehow Time and Eternity gets an LE and this doesn't even get a physical :P

Zvezda is best show this season and I won't hear otherwise :P

I can't believe that is the real cover.  Is this just a really elaborate joke?
38  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Demon Gaze on: January 26, 2014, 10:19:44 PM
I hear the game is really good but I don't know many details at all.  I preordered it already though.
39  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Bravely Default: Flying Fairy on: January 09, 2014, 11:09:28 AM
So I've been playing the demo....and I really don't get why this game is so anticipated. Can anyone explain to me what is so amazing about this game? Because I have been meh about it since I first saw it and the demo has not convinced me otherwise.

same.  nothing about it really stands out to me

As for Infinite Space, I wanted to like that game, but it look forever to get going, battles were rediculously slow, and if I recall correctly, I hated the general lack of exploration, but still having to deal with random battles during missions. Probably one of my biggest disappointments as far as RPGs go...

Battles are only slow if you're watching every animation.  If you're tapping the bottom screen to skip animations the combat is very fast.  The game does not have the normal walking around type exploration but you certainly travel a lot.  The story made it feel very explorationy to me ;)

Infinite Space shoulda been on the list.  For me that's #1

...and Golden Sun DD is hot garbage.  I was baffled by all the positive reviews I saw
43  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Dark Souls 2 on: November 13, 2013, 09:25:09 PM
I didn't notice the difference

why are you saying GHP?  what is the H?  Are you mixing up GFP and ZHP?

for the voice acting I'm not claiming that the english voices are terrible or anything, just me personally I don't like them and would recommend japanese for this game.

I read the review, too. I was on the fence, but now I'm pretty sure I won't get it. It sounds like it suffers from a lot of what I disliked in Legasista - too many tutorials, yet too complex to skip them; cringe worthy dialogue, and well, just being a rogue-like minus the immediacy that makes Rogue-likes so appealing to me.

I haven't played Legasista (never even heard of it before) but the tutorials are pretty short and understandable.  Maybe it's cause I played ZHP but the game really doesn't seem hard to get into to me.  The only "complicated" thing is the divinigram but that's also one of the coolest things about the game.  It's the good kind of complicated.  It has clear benefits and isn't just there as a stupid gimmick.  I also don't find the dialogue cringe worthy.  It's certainly not as "cringeworthy" as hyperdimension neptunia or something.  It does have some flat humor (all Lanael's second name gags fell totally flat with me) but there is other stuff that I do think is funny.  Renya is pretty funny despite looking like a boring generic male highschooler protag.  Based on appearances I was expecting Renya to be the "straight man" and Lilliel to be the idiot but thankfully I was surprised and they didn't go with the normal anime stereotype.

Just read the review on RPGFan.  I saw some complaints about the voice acting and I'd recommend playing this one in japanese.  I decided to change it pretty fast.

Also Zeron how could you hate on the main character he's awesome.

now on chapter 10
