1  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth on: August 13, 2006, 10:10:10 PM

I do feel threatened, so again, I'll ask you to stop now.  No questions.  Just stop.  Thousands of kids commit suicide per year because of online harassment.

And I have been a victim of such things before, and I don't want to get constantly harassed again.  So stop, please.  What you are doing is a lot harder to deal with than you think.  It is mean, and cruel.  So please, just stop.

I might as well remind you people now that online harassment is against the law, so I'll ask you one more time to stop, please.

And I think writing in first person is bad because when something is stated as a fact, I listen to it more, even though I know it is the reviewer's opinion.  I always listen to "The story is bad", but I never listen when people say "I think the story is bad."

Yes, I know it is a little picky on my part, but hey, it's what I think. xP
3  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Luminous Arc (SRPG for the DS [Mitsuda composing]) on: August 13, 2006, 09:47:51 PM
Okay, I might as well salvage my dignity now while I have it. XD

Masashi Hamauzu >>> All

But Sakuraba's soundtracks are always more memorable to me.  I don't think he is the best, but he is always the most memorable for me.

But I have only liked one song from Mitsuda.  But that song is like, the best song in an RPG I have heard, so I'll give him that. xP  Scars of Time. =o

Although my favorite soundtrack of all-time is a Sakuraba soundtrack (Valkyrie Profile 2), I still notice several flaws in his music. =P

First of all, that is an extremely lame attempt to insult me, and to make yourself look like a suckup.

Second of all, if I were to actually write a review about his review, I wouldn't have done it in first person.  There is a difference between a quick reaction, and a review.  Learn that.

And you may have only have talked a few sentences in first-person, but there are other ways to approach a review without using first-person at all.

That's called harassment, and I'll ask you to stop right now, please.  Thank you.

I am probably one of the few people who have hated Mitsuda's big name soundtracks, like Xenogears, Xenosaga Ep. 1, Chrono Trigger, and Chrono Cross. XD  A lot of the songs in Xenogears sounded the same.  Xenosaga Ep. 1 had very little variety, and a very annoying battle theme.  Chrono Trigger put me to sleep, and Chrono Cross also gave me a headache.

Sakuraba's big name soundtracks (not including any of his Tales ones >.>) >>>> Mitsuda's =O

Don't get it, it'll be a waste of your money.

Suikoden III is great, and Atelier Iris is good for a fun romp, if you want something lighthearted. Phantom Brave is possibly the pinnacle of NIS' SRPG series, so if you enjoy those you'll want that and not Disgaea 2.

Hey Ley, why do you consider Disgaea 2 a waste of money? Now you're making me worried as I've already preordered (and pre-paid for) it. Is it a lot worse than Disgaea, or do you just not like the series at all?

I have heard that Disgaea 2 is just as good as the original, if not better.
7  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Recommendations on RPGs, please? on: August 12, 2006, 12:56:48 PM
I WOULD recommend DDS I & II, but DDS II ruined it for me, so I won't.

But I would definitely recommend Nocturne.  One of my favorite RPGs.
8  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Luminous Arc (SRPG for the DS [Mitsuda composing]) on: August 12, 2006, 12:53:52 PM
Meh, I really don't like SRPGs, except for a select few.  I usually really suck at them, and I can't stand the linearity of them.  So I doubt I will be getting this one anytime soon if it hits the states.

That, and I really dislike Mitsuda as a composer, and music is a big part of what makes an RPG good for me.
9  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Deep Labyrinth Anyone? on: August 10, 2006, 03:32:12 PM
For the record, Atlus is only publishing the game.  They didn't develope it.

Looks good... I don't really see the point of having a world map while you're in towns, though. It works fine on the world map, as you can see where you're going (well duh). I like the fact they use the top screen to have the characters waving when an item they can equip is selected. Just because it looks good and it's Final Fantasy doesn't mean it'll replace Golden Sun as The Best RPG On A Nintendo Handheld (and therefore all handhelds) - it's true, don't argue. But we're all Final Fantasy favouritists, aren't we?

It's all a matter of opinion when you say Golden Sun is the Best RPG on a Nintendo Handheld.  Personally, I think Golden Sun is boring, even though I did enjoy it from time to time.  But it is FAR from the best RPG on a handheld, in my opinion.

I think that the best RPG on a Nintendo Handheld is either Shin Megami Tensei II, Star Ocean: Blue Sphere, or Seiken Densetsu: Final Fantasy Gaiden.

Yes, it takes place over 4000 years after ToS.
12  The Rest / General Discussions / Mel Gibson Hates Jews on: August 03, 2006, 02:28:12 AM
Well, he was drunk, so we can't really tell if those remarks were completely truthful or not.  I have heard some pretty crazy racial slurs out of drunks before.  But seeing how Gibson is very religious, and comes from a line of racism supposedly, it doesn't seem like what he said was completely alcohol influenced.

But hey, he still makes great movies.  I don't see movies based on people's reputations.  I watch them solely for the movie.
13  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Summon Night - anyone else grab this? on: August 02, 2006, 06:22:06 PM
It is very short, and the story is bad, but I loved the battle system, and I have already played through it twice since I got it.  The gameplay is worth it, in my opinion.

It's definitely better than the schotty GBA version, from what I hear.  The majority of Tales fans say the PS1 version is the one to get, from what I hear.

I found the SFC version of Tales of Phantasia to be superior.  Mainly because of the battle system, as it was faster paced, and just more fun in my opinion.  My favorite part of the PS1 version was the World Map.  But the battle system was awful, and I really didn't like the art style in comparison to the original.
15  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Tales of Phantasia (PSP) Screens on: August 01, 2006, 12:21:13 AM
It is just a port of the PS1 version (with some added stuff), which wasn't very good in my opinion.
