I may simply suck at it, which is kinda odd. I never struggled with tactics ogre on the GBA, or Disgea, and most review sites, this one included, list FFT as not all that difficult. Even checking out guides I can't really figure out where I'm going wrong. Oh well.

Sounds like a rental, but a must rent one at that. Too many games on deck right now though. Still have to finish Resonance of fate and play Vesparia and MagnaCarta 2.
I lost my respect for IGN'S reviews ages ago.

I agree, but I don't see this as a USA thing at all, it seems kinda universal.
Honestly I see this as an unfortunate side effect of the spread of 'internet atitude.' Originally, the jackassery that you commonly see online stayed online, but with the barrier between net life and real life getting thinner and thinner, there's a crossover now.
Atitudes like 'what right do you have to bother me' or 'What do you think makes you good enough to challenge me?' are more and more common everywhere now, and I think this is why. In addition, I think that with ease of access to tons of information, lazy has also become "the new black." It's frankly just cool to not care.

The last time I HAD to take notes was the ps1 generation, mapping out development plans for my FFT characters. Before that, hell, graph paper maps for just about every super old school RPG were pretty much required.

Either this game is super grind heavy or I just plain play it wrong. You don't seem to be grinding nearly as much as I had to.

I don't understand the hate, but whatever. The last tales game I played was an english patched Phantasia and I loved. Picked up Vesparia, but I'm still finishing Resonance of Fate. If I like the direction the games have been going, I'll pick up Abyss.
