This video is hilarious and yet disturbing at the same time.

Enjoy!

This is great news.  I wanna know what they are gonna focus on.  Will we finally get to see the Jinchuu arc "properly" animated?  Will we get to see exactly what happened between Kenshin getting his cross-shaped scar and him meeting Kaoru?

Actually, it would be a pleasant surprise if they came up with something entirely new.  I'm just glad it got the green light and I hope everything goes well.

That girl is one twisted human being.  She explains that she was just trolling the whole time in this vid.  I believe her entire YouTube profile is devoted to her sick sense of humor.  It's the same old strategy of "dress like the enemy and commit atrocities."

Anyway, my condolences to all who've lost loved ones in Japan.  Things are not looking good right now with that nuclear reactor.  This incident has surpassed Three Mile Island.

It's such irony that a series that was so completely inspired by Western RPGs (both computer and pen&paper) got such limited play in the US.

Yeah, I feel the same way about King's Bounty.

Ahh Wizardry, alive and kickin' =D  There were Japanese PSX remakes of the first five Wizardry games that never got localized either, they looked really good too.

Talk about old school... I love Wizardry.  I still remember using graphing paper to map out those dungeon floors and being instakilled by the Highwaymen.  Man, those were the days.

I'm glad to see it's still around and hopefully it gets localized (wishful thinking).

Ack, it's been so very long since I played the older FFs that I can't recall their stories in major detail (heck it's been quite some time since I touched the PSOne titles as well). It's a tough call. In terms of how I felt at the time of originally playing the game I would say that IV and VIII left the best impressions on me. In hindsight VI and Tactics stand out as the more solid tales Final Fantasy has spun.

In all honesty though I'd say Final Fantasy Mystic Quest deserves an honorable mention. The plot flows relatively smoothly with decent amounts of seriousness and comedy mixed in for a relatively satisfying conclusion. For an "Intro" RPG. Before you throw flaming spears for me saying that realize lashing on FFMQ's plot for lack of complexity is equivalent to barking about a children's story lacking twists. XD It's a simple story for a introductory audience. At 6 years old I thought it was fantastic.

Believe it or not, I agree with you about Mystic Quest.  Also, I love the music of Mystic Quest and FFIV.  Simple, yet effective.  It proves that you don't need an entire orchestra or Leona Lewis to have a decent musical score.

I don't see why I'm being sacked for hating Tidus for being annoying, many others agree.  Don't make me bring up the laughing scene, please dont.  I'm sure my parents thought I was a retard for playing a game with something so embarrassing to watch.
And yeah, I barely remember the game to remember the Jecht/Tidus story.  I do remember loving the irony of Jecht being celebrated.

I agree with the Kefka bit.  He was just a guy who wanted to see the world burn.  A hard motive to pull off, but I think the game builds up well enough into it.  I'd kill ....KILL for a remake.  There's something too, graphically, that I think would look brilliant on a next gen console (all the metals would have that high-def-bloom-effect SHINE!)

FF12...  They should remake this one too...as the online title it resembles.

I'm surprised for all the FF7 is "okay" reviews.  Or are people just afraid to say it was "great" because of what fanboys (and spinoffs) have done to the series?  I personally thought the plot was brilliant, especially for it's time.  Midgar was the perfect start, a large stage, but a small step to the even bigger world and the bigger picture (remember how it felt to finally walk a world map - only to be greeted by a friendly choco farm and two Midgar Zollums?? (one swimming, one speared).  The meteor was a looming terror - something I can't even imagine dealing with in normal life.  I forgot a lot of the Sephiroth stuff, but his insanity drove a whirwind of mess wherever he went.  Oddly enough, one thing I hated was Vincent..the sort of pseudo-vampire thing was just ...weirder than Gogo and Umaro joining. =P

I definitely agree with you about Tidus.  I couldn't stand him and Wakka.  It kinda sucks that they were very useful in battle and had HUGE damage potential with Blitz Ace and Attack Reels, respectively.

I also agree with you about FF7.  Sure Squeenix milked it to death, but it was a great game and is in my top 3.  I just don't get why it's almost a crime to like FF7 and dislike FF9.  While 9 was a good game, it just didn't appeal to my tastes.  The only characters I liked in 9 were Amarant, Freya, and Beatrix.  The story did tend to be a little slow.  There was some humor, but a lot of it seemed forced.  The only time I felt anything for Zidane is when he "snapped."  And don't even get me started on Kuja.

Edit:  I actually liked Vincent, the former Turk turned "vampire."

To me, Tactics has the best story. :p

In the main series, I have to go with VI.  The story was great, but it was the characters that hooked me.  And as for Kefka's motivation for destroying the world, why does he need any?  It's called nihilism (more accurately a mix of moral and existential nihilism).  Remember what Alfred said in The Dark Knight;

"Some men just want to watch the world burn."

Anyway, VI was the best to me, followed by IV and VII.  The only gripe I have for VI is that it is ridiculously easy.

Edit: I've completed Final Fantasy I through X-2.  I don't like MMOs, so I didn't play XI or XIV.  I could only tolerate XII for about 4-5 hours and I won't dare touch XIII.

Anyway, which game in the SMT series should I get my hands on first?

Nocturne, because it's the 3rd entry in the main series. All of 'em SMT games are good, but I agree with Mickey. You should start with a main entry.
Well I mean that's a fine choice too. I really doesn't matter. The only reason I'm hesitant to recommend Nocturne is because it can be Nintendo Hard at various points. But then again they all can. But Nocturne gave me the most trouble.

Trust me guys, Nintendo Hard is child's play to me.  I grew up playing and finishing "Nintendo Hard" games, so difficulty isn't an issue.

How do the games go in chronological order?  Is Nocturne considered part 3 of the DDS and where does Persona fit in all this?

They're all independent from each other. Think of them as separate franchises that have some themes in common.

Ok, now I understand.  I might give Nocturne a try first, then I'll move to DDS, and finally Persona.  Thanks for the info guys!  =D

Ok, I know you guys are gonna rip my head off for this, but I haven't played a single SMT game yet.  I've been playing RPGs for at least 20 yrs now (I'm 27) and I haven't even gotten around to playing one of the most well received series.  I live in Arkansas and the only SMT game I've ever seen in GameStop was Persona 3 and it was going for $70 (I was a broke college student then).  I've seen several on Amazon, but I don't know where to start.

Anyway, which game in the SMT series should I get my hands on first?

Agreed, the battle system in X-2 is the best part. Only some of the costumes were terribly fanservicey (the default outfits outside of battle obviously were though), but I did like the dressphere system. As for the story... yeah, it was alright. Not great by any means... but I've seen worse. The game is about 5 chapters total, but it gets less cheesy after the 2nd or third.

Yeah, I though X-2 had an amazing battle system too.  I just didn't care for the story at all.  The best parts of the game for me was the opening piano theme and the battle system and the only playable character I liked was Paine.  Yuna and Rikku were BEYOND irritating, a lot more than they were in X.

BTW, the rest of the music was basically J-Pop, which I can't stand.

I wish they would make an anime of Kongoh Bancho!  Does anyone know whether or not the mangaka plans on releasing new manga volumes?  It got up to ch 70 and suddenly stopped.

@MGShogun  Since you have a Wii, definitely get Skies of Arcadia.  Arc the Lad: Twilight of the Spirits for the PS2 is also a great one.  IMO, Arc the Lad: TOS has a very engaging story and Skies of Arcadia has lots of quality exploration.  Both are beginner friendly.

BTW, if you ever get into Strategy RPGs, I'd recommend Final Fantasy Tactics and Stella Deus.

P.S. Welcome to the world of RPGs!

People said the same thing about "Celda."

Again, I'm still not seeing why people are stlil making such a big deal out of this, so much so taht they're starting to boycott companies.

And that's fine.  You are certainly entitled to your opinion as am I.  I just don't see how making Dante look like Pepé Le Pew is good for DMC or it's fanbase.
