I actually got 2 games when I first got a PS2; Dark Cloud and Twisted Metal Black.  I picked up DMC shortly afterwards.

I LOLed so hard when I saw Dante's new design!  It looks HORRENDOUS.  I don't mind a change in design, but I not such a drastic one.  Imagine the uproar if they changed Solid Snake's design to make him look similar to Cobra Commander from GI Joe.  There's no way I'd be able to ignore that, even with good gameplay.

I gotta go with Darc from Arc the Lad: TOS.  He goes from slave to King of Deimos using sheer force.  However, his brother Kharg is the typical "save the world" sissy.
