I don't really feel like playing it on PC, so I'm gonna wait until I get a PS4, too. But that won't happen until FFXV comes out...

Watched some more Knights of Sidonia. The people are plants, btw. I don't even need a spoiler for that, because it isn't an important plot point at all. They just photosynthesis because. Just like how they have a talking bear with a robot arm because. And the protagonist's love interest has no gender and reproduces asexually which you would think would lead to an interesting drama but it doesn't because.

Seriously, the weird little details that don't seem to really seem to add to anything aside, this show has been pretty interesting. In fact, this might be the first non-OVA mecha anime since Eureka Seven that I could confidently call "good", provided it stays on course.

Oh my God Shirogane no Ishi Allovermyface actually looks like a real mecha show. I thought it was based on a card game? Or was I thinking of Bishiroad this whole time?

Regarldless, that and Aldnoah.Zero are two of my most anticipated shows in a while. And they both have good mecha designs for once. I haven't seen good mecha designs in a non-OVA in, like, 10 years...maybe more. (Though I did like the Tieren from 00)

And of course I'll be watching Sailor Moon Crystal as well.

And the rest that I'm interested in are all sequels to shows I never saw, and everything else is outside my preferred genres, so chances are those 3 will be it for me.

I knew I was missing something. Thanks.

Saints Row IV - It's as much silly nonsensicle fun as I thought it would be. Driving controls suck, though.

Final Fantasy Lightning Returns - I liked FF13 and 13-2. A lot.

I don't like this game. The story feels like it was taken from an unrelated game shoehorned in here. The characxters all have completely different personalities, and while they try to make it make sense, some of its not a good idea. Lightning no displays literally no emotion whatsoever. Why would anybody want a protagonist who simply cannot react or express any emotion whatsoever???

The lore from previous games has either been reworked or blantantly ignored, only brought up again in flash back cutscenes. We're servants of a god? No we're servants of THE God. So we're a L'Cie? Not really. But Gods were just really powerful mortal beings in prior games that needed L'Cie to do their bidding? This one's omnicient and all powerful, and involved with a lot of things in past games that had other explanations but now we're saying God did it.

Seriously, am I missing something here?

Anyways, the gameplay is so repetetive and boring, you wouldn't believe it. There's nothing to it, you just keep spamming attacks. There's no thought or strategy whatsoever. We switched to easy, and even on that the enemies have monsterous-sized health bars, even after keeping up to date with equipment. Every battle takes forever, and you don't get much for doing the battles anyways...you level up through quests, fights are optional and probably best ignored. On easy you can escape whenever you want, too, so we just escape from the harder ones.

The only good thing I have to say so far is that Noel's cutscenes were interesting and it was nice to finally get some closure with him. Doesn't quite redeem this game yet, though...

I'm excited to play it, too, but I don't see this working out as well for SE as they think it will. Oh well, so long as I get a fun game...

I am very close to considering Luftrausers "Beat". It's been a while since I beat a game only days after I bought it...

Yup, this was pretty much Game of the Show for me (or at least the best surprise).
1254  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Fantasy Life for 3ds on: June 14, 2014, 07:35:26 PM
Hm, yeah, you're probably right about that. I was kind of hoping you could buy or farm most everything, kinda like how in RF4 you had to go to the dungeons, but you never really had to fight too much if you didn't want to (and didn't want to progress the story).

Actually...I never did play RF4...guess I have one less reason to care about this game...

^To be fair, I didn't expect them to put much effort in the combat, and it looks a lot more fun than I figured it would be. I don't think they want the combat to be the main appeal of the game since it's supposed to be more of an "Fantasy Life Sim" than a straight RPG. I'm actually intrigued be that, if only because my main problem with other Life-ish games was that it's always a relatively mundane setting. Even Animal Crossing is just a regular world, but with furry animal people...

Also I'm one of the very very few people who played the salesmen minigame in 4 Heroes of Light and was like, "screw saving the world or whatever, this is what I'd rather spend the whole game doing!"

Sounds more like Chrystal Chronicles to me.

I'm more surprised we're only hearing about this now...
1258  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Zelda for the Wii U on: June 11, 2014, 09:32:11 AM
I'm hoping for the best, even though I haven't liked a Zelda game since Phantom Hourglass...though I still need to play the 3DS one...

This has me a lot more interested from the getgo than any other entry in the series, though, so I think the chances of success are pretty good.

I have to say I'm kind of shocked we're getting this and not DQ 7.

Well, when you put it that way...
1260  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Fantasy Life for 3ds on: June 10, 2014, 11:10:10 PM
I'll admit, I had given up hope on this. I wasn't impressed with the trailers I saw before, either, but they didn't show...well, much of anything, in retrospect. The trailer Ninty posted looked great, and now I'm pretty happy we're getting it.
