I have a Wizardry Collection that I haven't spent much time with. Maybe I'll play some more of that.

Got to World 6-3 in super Mario Bros., the furthest I've ever gotten. =) And now I'm being tempted by Etrian Odyssey, but I wanna save it all for EO3 on Xmas.

if you think the graphics in any of the gba fire emblems are shoddy the DS ones are worse. only a blind hardcore fan could like the DS FE's.

Or a casual fan who can appreciate it for being a good game and not let things like graphics or story get in the way of that.

Yeah, a user on another forum brought that to my attention. I so wish it would get ported to the West, seeing as how I can't understand Japanese.

I ABHORRED Tactics Advance and A2.  They didn't do the original any justice and the law system was awful.  The story was pitiful.

FFTA didn't even have a story.

And it was still substantially more coherent than the original FFT.

ice burn

Well, it kinda did have a story, it was just easy to ignore, not counting that obnoxiously long and slow intro. Ugh, take that out, and FFTA would've been quite a bit better, IMO.

Is V Gundam worth my time?  Did a little research; can't tell.  I know some people here love Gundam so I wouldn't mind a few opinions.

I might as well toss in my opinion. I only watched 3 episodes, but that's as much as I could stand. I was marathoning the entire meta-series at the time, so that might explain it. It was only a few months ago, though. I'll watch some more tomorrow and see. I remember it being too overly dramatic, like there was bad stuff happening at every turn, and it was very heavyhanded with its themes, but we'll see. SRW got me somewhat interested, to say the least, so I have some motivation to watch it again.
1342  Media / Multiplayer RPGs / Re: There's no MMO like your first. on: December 03, 2010, 10:16:34 PM
Phantasy Star Universe was my First, at least the first that I got into. My real first was either Runescape or Furcadia, neither of which suited my tastes at all. I liked it a lot when I first played it, but I never spent that many hours on it since I got yelled at for playing it into the wee hours of the night.=P I prefer Phantasy Star Online and Final Fantasy XI now, and spent a lot of my free time on them way back when.

Place one of your more powerful units just barely inside (or even outside) the enemies' movement range and have some of your other units just outside enemy range. After they all come forward to attack that spearhead unit, decimate them on your next turn. And, obviously, just be sure you're not using a mage as your spearhead unit when the enemies have weapon based attacks and vice versa. When possible be sure to put your spearhead unit on a cell with terrain bonuses like fortresses, forests, etc.

Oh cool, I think I've done that before but didn't know it. But seriously, thanks for the time, I'll try to remember that the next time I play.

No problem. Just remember in Fire Emblem you aren't competing against the superior tactics of the A.I. as the A.I. is in fact quite stupid. Rather you're usually competing against being outnumbered, in the dark, distance attacks, beginning at a tactically disadvantageous location, and etc.

Cool. I was beginning to overthink it when I went through some scenarios in my head. I'll try it out tomorrow on Shadow Dragon.

I'll be getting Chthulu Saves the World and possibly Epic Dungeon, I never played Soulcaster or Aphelion, so I'll have to check out some reviews for those.

Which reminds me, I still need to play Breath of Death VII.

Lure the enemies to YOU, not the other way around, dude.

How do I do that?

1348  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Will there be a Lunar 2 on PSP? on: December 03, 2010, 05:11:00 PM
Remember, XSEED is only a publisher, not a developer.  Lunar 2 on PSP is ultimately down to GameArts.

However, during an interview with GameArts, it was stated that a Lunar 2 PSP release would depend on XSEED and the fans - meaning that it's likely GameArts want some funding from them.  But XSEED is a very small company, and funding is expensive.  The most you can do is buy Lunar 1 PSP, and maybe send them an EMail about it. They're a very fan-friendly company and if you Email then, they'll reply.

Edit:

Oh great, so they're also not publishing Metal Max 3.:( Good thing I just got Metal Saga.

Shadow Dragon: The Fire Emblem game for people who don't care about flavor at all!

I might actually get this one if they release it in the states. That casual mode sounds tempting.

Dude, character death comes up so infrequently in Fire Emble that it's not worth all the worry you give it, assuming you don't just blindly make a bunch of boneheaded mistakes all the time or play on the Maniac difficulties.  Just play the games, they're incredibly good.

I can't beat a map without someone dying. Not just in Fire Emblem, but any strategy game. So casual mode is good for me, at least until I learn to stop getting pawns killed.

And don't think I haven't tried them. I played Fire Emblem, I couldn't get past stage 6. I couldn't even get past stage two in Sacred Swords, and I had to restart Shadow Dragon on easy(Normal?), only to get bored during the tutorial. I'm just not very good at them, and I don't have enough patience to restart a zillion times until people stop dying.
