Personally, I'd take Ar noSurge any day over Xillia 2 and Fairy Fencer F...and I'm still not entirely sold on it...

I would kill to have the combat from Dark Souls in a game that doesn't actively punishes me for playing it. I am 100% serious.
Red Dead Redemption I can very much see the appeal of, but I need my Open World games to be as unrealistic as possible. It's kind of why I can't play GTA without cheats.

Anyways, I'm playing Shovel Knight. It is the physical embodiment of love.

I like how the 3DS version is a Turn-based Strategy game. Seriously, what?

I really outta read up on Ciel, since I didn't bother once I knew it wouldn't make it over, but hearing that it's a sim makes me wonder if it's anything like Princess Maker. PM2 was the shit, man...

Anyways, it's odd that Ar no Surge is still undecided for the NA market, but then again, I'm still undecided if I like the sound of its gameplay or not...the videos I saw didn't help either...

I'm just disappointed it's not an Atom Ant movie, myself...

I'm terrible enough with money as it is, especially in the summer (don't know why...).

So apperantly I bought 12 games when Valdis Story was the only one I want to play...and I'm still waiting for a deeper discount there...

I'm looking forward to the story, too, but not because it won't lack tropes and cliches perse. They'll be different ones from JRPGs, for sure, but pretty much every WRPG I've seen and/or played seemed riddled with tropes and ideas I had already seen in the fantasy and sci-fi books I read growing up. I still enjoy them sometimes - I loved Mass Effect's story even though I'm sure anyone well-versed in Sci-fi could probably play bingo with a lot of its plot-points. At the end of the day, it's more about how the story's excecuted, and I'm hoping the major talent they brought on can deliver there.

So, Layzner's finally fully subbed. Time for me to drop everything and watch that.

Huh, a reviewer on nother site I go to said the plot was hard to comprehend, too, but most of the people I know who played it didn't seem to have a problem understanding it, though the ending caused some discussion. I'm personally looking forward to it more than any retail game on the PS4.

I loved Mighty Switch Force, and I also loved Dustforce, but I can see why people might not like them.

Saw episode 3 of Broken Blade. Halfway through, and so far I apparently can't gush enough about this show. It's not perfect - Rygart's character is a bit conflicting, especially in the case of him not wanting to kill despite being a trained soldier. It's become a very tired trope by now, and while I think they haddle it a bit better than most, it still feels like a forced plotpoint. I mean, it's not enough that he doesn't want to kill his best friend? He has to try to save everybody, including the ones mercilessly slaughtering his own people, including his own comrades in arms? What's his motivation there? I don't recall it ever being made clear.

But that aside, it's been incredible. The animation's gorgeous, the fights are complex and detailed, there's lots of attention to detail, the music is amazing. The story, world and political strife are becoming incredibly complex, and there's a lot of hinting at even bigger things to come, though this adaption might not even get to fully cover them all (the manga is on-going). The characters are all interesting in their own right, though admittedly the characters aren't a huge focus - the cast is large, but we don't get to learn about a lot of them. However, considering the episodes are technically full movies, and there's only so much you can do to develop characters in movies, I think they've done enough to make most of the characters stand out.

I can hardly wait to continue this!

I keep trying to be cynical about this game,

Do you mind if I ask why?

1) I never liked Obsidian's previous games (I understand their developments were shakey, but even if the games were technically sound, I'm not sure they would ever click with me)
2) It's a kickstarter game founded on nostalgia where the developers got over 4 million dollars based mostly on promises.

Thankfully it's looking like it might actually be one of the handful of its kind that I've seen that could live up to its potential.

I keep trying to be cynical about this game, but Rob's preview is really making that difficult. I mean, the basic combat doesn't sound like it's anything unique, but the story choices sound like they could be rather intriguing. And of course I'm liking the screenshots. Hopefully they'll put out a new Gameplay trailer soon. The one everyone keeps showing is the same one they showed off last year...

This is the only site that works for me for some reason. I can't even get Google to work.
