I was having a pleasant day at Grandma's house, until I ate a diet cookie, which I think had Splenda. I'm allergic to splenda. Within an hour, I had a migrain (which I still have right now), and everyone's voices were too loud (or at least it seemed too loud because of the migrain).

...Actually now my whole head is numb and a bit tingly. Not sure if that's a good thing or not...

Okay, that makes more sense. Also noticed Wikipedia didn't have a source for Shinovi Versus, so I guess I should've known better than to trust it.

It's not a fighting game...

Well, I guess there is a multiplayer versus mode, but that isn't really the main point.  It's just a name.

Wikipedia said it was a 3D Fighting game. :/

Oh wow, there's a fighting game in the series? Now that Arcana Hearts X Senran Kagura crossover I wished for is that much closer to a reality! =O

I found out that a certain someone finally finished translating Ys V, so I went and played that for an hour or so. So far it's eeeeeeeeh, okay. It's not the worst Ys game - that title goes to Ys 3 - but it's slower than the rest of the series, and while having an attack button, a block button, and jump button are nice, the combat is still pretty one-note so far, and probably will be until I get more magic. Unless I'm wrong, all you every use for your basic attack is your sword, and magic is the only bit of complexity you get. In the end it feels like Secret of Mana or Zelda, minus the variety. It's still fun, but I doubt it'll win me over anytime soon.

Also:

XCOM: Enemy Within - Still doing tutorials after a couple of hours, I kinda need it, though, this is a very complicated game.

And may I have your malted milk balls then?  Those are good!

Sorry, my bro and I ate them all. :$
1342  The Rest / General Discussions / What Did You Get For the Holidays? - 2013 Edition on: December 25, 2013, 07:18:25 PM
Just thought I'd make this year's topic asking what everyone got over the holidays, since I didn't see one.

As for myself, I got:

A Link Between Worlds
Etrian Odyssey Untold
XCOM: Enemy Within
Pikmin 3
Ys: Memories of Celceta Silver Anniversary Edition
$$$100$$$ O_O
$25 Amazon Gift Card
Another $25 Amazon Gift Card (that didn't work)
Malted Milk Balls Bear Poop
A Maple Syrup Sampler Pack
A Shirt
Time spent with my family<3

I kinda wish I got something not-game-related, like a DVD or something, but oh well, still a very nice Christmas. I hope everyone else has/d a very happy holidays~

Thanks to Mesh's recent talks about the 3D Classic Sega games, I've been pretty addicted to 3D Space Harrier. Got up to Stage 8 or maybe even 9(?) before I ran into a lot of trouble on my last playthrough. I keep starting from the beginning after I use up all my continues (which happens fast, once you get out of the groove, it's hard to get back in it) in old arcade fashion. I've also experimented with some of the options, and I think I like the non-inverted touch controls the most, but all the schemes are good. I also have 3D Super Hang-On and an old favorite of mine, Shinobi III, to try out later.

I also started playing 2nd Super Robot Taisen Original Generations, and it has motivated me to put much more effort into learning Japanese because I don't know what I'm doing! I mean, maybe it's just because I'm rusty on the series (I went from playing them every 3 months in Japanese to playing them once this year in English...and having trouble then, too), but I'm having a lot of difficulty navigating these menues. I barely figured out how to save...after I already passed a decision point...

This is super exciting, but I kinda hope it's not multi-part, if only because importing's expensive. =P Might go with the Vita version just to chop off some of the price...

Woot, big KanColle update!  There's a new large ship construction option so Yamato is buildable!  And there's a Christmas event crossover with Arpeggio of Blue Steel in which you can get I-401!

...nobody cares, do you...

I want to build the Yamato. =[

Now to get a boat...after I do one or two last bounty quests...

HAHAHA, you would think that, wouldn't you?

I really can't express how fed up I got with this game. Overall it was good, but it asked players to put up with way too much bull.

I had no idea what you were talking about until I actually got to the Cove. 3 hours later, I'm still not on a boat...

Shin Mazinger Z's pacing is all over the place, just to warn ya. You might still enjoy it, but after a while I couldn't look past the fact that it was drawing out parts that it didn't need to while rushing parts that I felt needed more attention.

Biggest Disappointment:

Coppelion - I set the bar low, thinking it'd be at least some fun nonsense, and it still fell flat on its face...

Second biggest disappointment:

The fact that I couldn't get myself to watch anything else. I honestly hate keeping up with new season stuff, almost as much as I hate keeping up with new games, yet every season I keep trying...and failing...

Can we do an anime of the year thing instead?
1349  The Rest / General Discussions / Re: The NEW Game Journal on: December 21, 2013, 09:29:05 PM
Finally made it through that volcano. I had to do a lot of grinding and side quests to get through it, but at least I was rewarded with a whole mess of Familiars...most of whom are kinda useless. Got some trophies, too, which is nice. Now to get a boat...after I do one or two last bounty quests...
1350  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Are turn-based console RPGs officially dead? on: December 21, 2013, 03:18:22 PM
personally, I don't know how many games require planning and strategy, but I can think of a lot of games where doing so would yield some kind of benefit. It usually makes the game more fun, too, so I don't see why I wouldn't use planning and stratgey when possible. :|
