61  Media / Multiplayer RPGs / Re: DC Universe is neat. on: November 07, 2011, 07:52:49 PM
I have been giving it a try as well.  Im a little dissapointed in the only 6 powers thing, since none of them really strike my itch (save maybe gadgets).  I havn't tried sorcery or nature yet.  I like the vast amount of weapon choices..so far I like hand blasts the best.  Finding it hard to design a character though, plenty of options, I just suck at it I think.  I just dont wanna do the typical "Oh haey lets pick black and red and now were KEWL".  I want something kinda uniqueish, but lol ><.  Anywho, havn't done a ton with it yet, but its not bad.

So this looks..AWESOME!  I gotta say I am excited for this.  Says its a Pirate action adventure game, so I am curious to see how it turns out.  I almost get a sort of..zelda-esque vibe from the trailer, even though it didn't show any gameplay or anything, so thats pure conjecture from me.  Still I cannot wait!
65  Media / Miscellaneous Games / Re: Rage on: October 04, 2011, 02:36:58 AM
From what ive been reading so far, sounds like yet another short ride that does not fully deliver but still satisfies.  I love how some reviews call it being "10 hours" a good thing.  I really think we have hit an issue with games today that due to the high production costs, we cannot have anything with a reasonable length.  Games like BF3 and CoD only get away with it because of the mutliplayer, but even then I refuse to buy them until they are like 20 bucks.  Just a pet peeve of mine, im sure plenty will disagree.  I still look forward to renting RAGE, but from what I read it sounds mostly just a straight up shooter in a post apocolyptic setting than any sort of fallout/borderlands type of thing, which is what I was looking forward to.

As much as I recall about XIII and the things I didnt care for, that newest vid was kinda cool.  I will at least be giving it a shot, see how this one feels.  If anything at least SE can make stuff look pretty cool (femme guy characters aside)

I may give this a shot, is it just you and your two partners in the gameworld?  Or is it like usual server based, and if so what server are you guys using?

Well say what you will but the transaction between me and rpgland went off without a hitch.  Everything arrived as stated in a decent amount of time.  Positive experience all around, and excellent communication.

For me, this game was one of the first I owned once I bought my PS1 back in the day.  It holds a special place in my heart, and I really, truly, enjoyed it.  If you have not tried it, and it hits classics, I would definately recommend it, the battle system alone is great, and I thought the storyline for it was pretty badass as well.

And UGH that freakin plant boss.

Well I suppose I have to be the devils advocate here, but I am picking up Trails in the Sky Collectors edition from him, for 40 shipped.  I feel its reasonable, seeing as trying to pick it up on the store is the same, and online, before the amazon sale, when we agreed to said price, it was spot on.  Plus I was supporting a member here (though this was before vanguard posted what he did, which I guess kinda sucks..id like to hear rpglands input on it I guess) so its all thumbs up from me so far.  I mean obviously I still have to get the item, but he has given me no reason to doubt it will be as he stated.  He did feel I was trying to rip him off the first time I contacted him, but that was because I made a stupid and misread what he posted.  Once I clarified what I meant he understood and was fine with it, and answered my questions fairly promptly.  So I just wanted to point this out..

Oh is PAX always in Seattle?  My parents plan on moving to the suburbs north of there in a couple of years, and I plan on following.  Anywho, I am of course not going to attend this year, but have fun!

75  Media / Multiplayer RPGs / Re: Diablo 3? on: August 02, 2011, 03:57:46 AM
While I agree the online all the time thing is pretty douche, even though for this type of game it does make more sense..if you can make sense out of insanity imo.  However, the store makes more sense.  Now I never played D2 much if any.  My mom was against it (honestly I could play resident evil, but diablo meant devil in spanish so its a no no for me..whatever mom) and once I finally got to play it I was like...uh...this is diablo 2?  Uh..wow this is not what I expected...I mean its alright..but wheres this OMGWTFAWESOME feeling my buddies get.  I did hear and see alot about people buying items offa ebay, and I suppose this offers a safer, more secure, legitimate way to do that..and I guess to a degree im ok with that.  I still think it many instances paying real money for ingame items is a tad silly.  However, as long as its always an OPTIONAL feature, then its fine by me.  If at any point I HAVE TO, then its not ok.  A little different when it comes to the somewhat f2p mmorpgs out there like LOTRO.  I feel at least in terms of game content, new game content, paying for it makes sense.  This is stuff they would normally be getting monthly subs for, and instead you can play quite a damn bit to your hearts content, but once you get towards the end, then yeah, you gotta fork over a little cash.  And to me that is completely legitimate.  However alot of MMO's are also what one would call P2W or pay to win, where you cannot progress in a decent manner without spending money, especially on gear and whatnot alone.  So instead of paying money for say, the Isenguard content set, which is quests, items, etc. you are having to pay for the Awesome Bunny Killer Outfit of Sex Blaster in order to actually progress in the already free stuff.  If that makes any sense.  Its still a precarious area, and I feel some devs/pubs are doing it better than others.  Time will tell what effect D3 will have on such things, and how these measures take place, but I think while it will drive some away, the majority will take it in stride, because lets face it.  Blizzard makes fucking amazing games.
