901  The Rest / The Helper Monkey / Thinking about selling PS2 and games for new G card or DS on: November 11, 2006, 01:55:29 PM
Yeah ive decided to sell it and the games so I can get a new card that will last me at least another year or so, and by then ill have a job and enough to buy a whole new rig.

Thanks for the input though Masamune.
902  The Rest / The Helper Monkey / Thinking about selling PS2 and games for new G card or DS on: November 11, 2006, 07:39:46 AM
Well im going over this in my mind right now...selling my PS2, and my two games, Tales of the Abyss and Suikoden V.  With the money from that, and a little extra, id pick up a Nvidia GeForce 7800 GS to upgrade my comp, and just stick to gaming on my computer.

Granted, for RPG's, the PC is not exactly a strong player, but I really cant afford alot of games anyways, and once I start school, and work, I wont have alot of time anywho, so if I just stuck to PC, then id have time to play/finish games, and also add in a MMO such as WoW or EQ2 or if any of the ones coming out in the near future are any good.

I just wanna hear what you guys think about this.  Think I should keep my PS2, even though I really dont play it much, save for the occasional rental and the few games I do buy for it, or sell it so I can upgrade my PC, so it will survive a bit longer ><

The other idea is to pick up a DS lite, since the games for that are a bit cheaper, and I can use the back catalog of GBA titles, such as Fire Emblem and FFT.

Im just...wondering if I should or shouldnt, cause I dont wanna regret it, ya know?  Damn decisions.
903  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Final Fantasy XII on: November 09, 2006, 06:01:18 AM
Starting over was a good thing for me.  Already I just finished the Nalbina Dungeon-Mimic caves area, and have Vaan with a Quick, and characters at level nine.  Ive managed my LP much better, and ive discovered that Montblanc gives you items for each rank, and money for bosses defeated.

I had no clue about that before, so now my enjoyment was like a 8/10, is now a 9/10.

I have to say, this is probably like in the top 3 favorite FF.  Its just got such a great world, pretty fun battle system, I love being able to PICK YOUR OWN WEAPON.  I mean, being able to choose from Crossbows, Katana, Ninja Sword, Rods, Staffs, Poles, Swords, Knightswords, on and on, its just great.  Kinda sucks though, since your not sure exactly what each does, in terms of benefits and such, but still, fun stuffs.

Sad thing is im only renting it, so on the 24th I gotta send it back..unless I get 39.99 then ill buy it...heh.

Well off I go!

Well I think those items get you especially good things from the bazaar, or at least thats my guess...but youd probably have to check a faq on that.

Im gonna start over, made it to raithwall, but I wasted tons of LP figuring out what weapons were where....so I figure id start over, and better spend my points, and do more powerleveling, so I can have more cash in the beginning.

Personally, Vaan is probably one of the better male protagonists in the PS era series.  So much better than that moron Tidus.   And personally, I enjoy him as a character.  Im only about 5 hours or so into the game, so I havnt gotten far, but I can sure as hell say this game is probably the most enjoyable PS2 FF ive played.   The setting alone is vibrant and interesting, moreso than most of the previous FF games.

The battle system takes a bit getting used to, but not much, gambit is interesting, especially for strategic buffs, and the option to not be forced into a specific weapon is a nice addition.

License system is a bit of a mixed bag, since you dont know exactly what skill reaches which, especially in the equipment stuff is a bit come and go, but not a big deal.

Personally, already I like this game more than 8, 9, 10, and 10-2, and thats just from the 5 hours i've played it.

I dunno, maybe i just didnt like the configuration of the PC version, and maybe the Online is much more enjoyable than single player.  *shrugs*

I might try it out again someday, but I have other games on my mind.
907  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Phantasy Star Universe on: October 29, 2006, 05:38:10 PM
Well I played some of the single player for this...and...wow..im sorry, but I cant even see this being that much fun online for much more than a few days.  It just feel uninspired, and the combat is rather...dull.  I dunno..when I started it up, I was expecting something cool, since everyone here is all gaga over it, but frankly, I was sorely disappointed.  Thank goodness for rentals.
908  Media / Single-Player RPGs / FFXII-Anyone waiting for this title...worth the wait? on: October 27, 2006, 07:32:30 PM
Meh, Final Fantasy is one of those series you just dont wanna even discuss...cause youve got your fanboys and your haters, and htey are like vocal...aka WoW fanboys and Haters ><

Personally, I enjoyed the demo, the new gameplay is...well...new.  Course for some people, its gonna be a make or break, cause itll be to much of a "change" and they will whine and cry about it.  Frankly, so long as its intergrated smoothly, plays smoothly, and works out, I dont care.  It seemed fine in the demo I played, so I have little doubt the retail version will be any worse for the wear.

I have a gamefly account, so I have it as my next rent, so once im done with bully ill have it sent my way, and hopefully ill enjoy it.  Im sure there will be a few reviews out there that hate on it for the changes, and others that will give it high reviews JUST because its a FF game.  But meh, I usually only look at reviews for the really bad scores.  Otherwise I leave it to my own experience.
909  Media / Single-Player RPGs / PSU: RPGFan's Hang Out on: October 25, 2006, 03:49:40 PM
Man, with the way you guys almost worship this game, it makes me wanna get it, but I decided to go with buying the gamefly service.  I figure makes it easier to try the singleplayer games I like.

If I ever do get it though...and you guys still play, ill make sure to stop by, enjoy yourselves!

So, ive been reading the reviews for this game.  Sounds pretty fun.

The idea of playing a game set in highschool sounds kinda lame, till you realize you can beat the crap outta the assholes, and mess with teh teachers, all while doing all the stuff you couldnt do in real school.

Im actually really thinking about picking this up, but ill see what the RPGfan group has to say.  Anyone pick this up and play it yet?  Whats your opinion on it.

Peace.

(And if you say you didnt cause your waiting for FFXII and PSU..yeah ok I get it...lol)
911  Media / Single-Player RPGs / .Hack GU on: October 24, 2006, 02:38:38 AM
Yeah FFXII is on my list, but PSU just, I dunno, I didnt like the gameplay of PSO, and PSU doesnt look much different.  Just not very interested...lol.
912  Media / Single-Player RPGs / .Hack GU on: October 23, 2006, 08:51:58 PM
The first games were somewhat fun, though the whole 4 game deal was rediculous.  Anywho, this one seems to be getting alot better hype, and I figure ill make a topic for it since it releases tommorrow.

If anyone has had their hands on an import, give us your impressions of it, what you think etc, and if you pick it up, please do the same.

Peace.
913  Media / Multiplayer RPGs / Good to see Blizzard doesn't favor sides or anything... on: October 16, 2006, 11:37:35 AM
Plus its a level 23 polearm with stats...I dont think there are any such things in existance so far at that level (or at least not many)...so for polearm lovers...yay?

I dunno, I probably wont be playing, so not a big deal...but spear does own hammer any day...just cause spears usually look cool as hell...hammers...not so much.  And yes, ive played and seen some of the higher level ones..still dont look that great...though same could be said for most polearms...bahh im rambling.

Still, ill be interested to see all the equipment added with the exp.  Especially in terms of weapon classes that dont have much, aka Polearms and Fist.
914  Media / Multiplayer RPGs / The Burning Crusade on: October 14, 2006, 02:18:09 PM
errr...Sept?  I think you got your month wrong bucko...

But yeah...I had quit wow...but who knows, if the exp looks fun enough..I may just have to start anew...and make it all the way to 60 for once...mwuahaha.
915  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Tales of the Abyss on: October 13, 2006, 09:25:36 AM
Grr so tough to decide...I loved tales of eternia, and tales of destiny....so this looks real good, specially since its only 39.99.  But the Devil Summoner looks pretty cool as well...and the time setting sounds so interesting...><

GAHHH!
