3796  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Final Fantasy III DS gameplay video! on: August 09, 2006, 05:28:02 PM

Looks good... I don't really see the point of having a world map while you're in towns, though. It works fine on the world map, as you can see where you're going (well duh). I like the fact they use the top screen to have the characters waving when an item they can equip is selected. Just because it looks good and it's Final Fantasy doesn't mean it'll replace Golden Sun as The Best RPG On A Nintendo Handheld (and therefore all handhelds) - it's true, don't argue. But we're all Final Fantasy favouritists, aren't we?

You are the single, most retarded person I've ever seen.

Well, I don't know much about the game yet, but we don't know yet if it'll only have three characters unless it's been explicitly stated already. Not that I mind if it does, I get plenty of eye candy with two characters being hot females. :P

Started another run of Suikoden V. I'm not upgrading my weapons this time so that I'll have a harder time beating the game.

Clicky.

I just have to ask... SHOVEL?!

Other than that though, I love the graphics and the character designs. It just needs a non-retarded story this time around.

He's about as bad as Peter Moore.

Code:
Namely the whole Sialeeds betrayal.  I don't get why she did it or really what she wanted.  Kind of weird to have this whole identity established throughout the game and then she pretty much just throws it all away and seemingly for no reason.  I'll have to check the Suikoden V discussion thread and see if I just missed this somewhere along the way...kind of amusing since most of the other plot elements were handled fairly well.

Code:
Sialeeds betrayed because she thought it was the right thing to do.

The fact is, during the Queen's Campaign, had the Prince succeeded, nothing would've changed. The Godwins and Barows would still be in the midst of a power struggle and would hold too much power, and if the prince had killed them after the war, it'd cause a revolt from supporters of both sides, causing a loss of stability for Falena. Sialeeds knew that the prince would eventually destroy the Godwin empire, and so she took it upon herself to kill the Barows' family's leader while plotting the Godwins' destruction at the same time. This would ensure that after the war was won, the prince and Lymsleia would hold the reins of power and not the nobles, thus preventing anything similar from happening in the future. It was somewhat the same as Jowy's betrayal from Suikoden II; it was all an elaborate plan to destroy the enemy from within.

I'm playing Persona 3 now. This is one weird game.
3803  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Super Robot Taisen: OG on: August 07, 2006, 02:33:50 PM
The PS2 OG isn't even out in Japan yet. I wouldn't count it out just yet, especially if the GBA one sells well.
3804  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Tales of Phantasia (PSP) Screens on: August 07, 2006, 02:22:06 PM
ZGM, the game may 'look' the same, but the sprites are much MUCH cleaner and animate much better, too. It's like watching an 80s cartoon and a recently made one. The difference is very noticeable once you see it in motion. Suzu being playable was actually the GBA version copping it from the PlayStation version, too. As an aside, your hate on for Sony isn't much differrent from what you're accusing the rest of this board of (Nintendo hating).

Alisha, yes, ToP takes place in ToS' distant future. Namco has said as such in a past interview.
3805  The Rest / General Discussions / Selling games on: August 07, 2006, 02:19:28 PM
I'm currently in the process of selling about all my games to get money for my suddenly diminishing college fund. My collection is, in layman's terms, the equivilant of a cheap $10 whore. I'm disappointed.

I will never, ever part with my Suikoden collection though.
3806  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Tales of Phantasia (PSP) Screens on: August 07, 2006, 12:36:05 PM
Just to inform you, the PSP one WILL undoubtedly be better than the GBA one. The reasoning for this is because the GBA version is a train wreck port of the SNES version with a lot of flaws, faulty gameplay design, and weird as hell menu organization. The PSP version will be a port of the PlayStation version which has better animated graphcis, full voice acting, and most importantly, a completely revamped battle system with better control and spell timing - I believe that in the PS version, spells don't freeze everything like they did in the GBA version. That made the already choppy gameplay even worse.

You can find my take on the game here.

You need to read more then. I borrowed that line of reasoning from 1984. If thats stupid to you, then well ..yeah.

Yes, I've read it. Just because it comes from a book doesn't mean it's automatically 'smart.'

Apathy breeds obedience I guess. The more you don't care about what those with the power to influence say, the easier it is for them to influence you.

This is the dumbest thing I've ever read.

I think "Final Fantasy for DUMMIES" works better.

Maybe they'll surprise us and remake Chrono Trigger for the DS.

...what? A guy can have his totally out there fantasies, can't he?
