You and me both, pal.
3842  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth on: July 10, 2006, 01:34:38 PM
I never understood why people hated the VA in Valkyrie Profile. I liked it a lot. Sure it's not anything high caliber or anything, but I think they did a good job. I enjoyed the voices a lot.

Is it because of the Pokemon thing? Or what? Cause I mean, me and my brothers kept saying stuff like "HEY LOOK, BROCK!" and "Dude, Tracey's Loki. I knew he was fucking evil, man."

And the ensuing reaction.
3844  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Atelier Iris: Grand Fantasm on: July 08, 2006, 12:29:45 PM
For some reason I was under the impression this game was for the PSP. So I was pretty surprised when I saw it for the PS2 on my monthly trip to my local import store. That being said, this game is awesome. I like it more than the Atelier Iris: Eternal Mana games.

The game has an almost Grandia-esque battle system, and all spells and special abilities are reliant on a special attack gauge that fills as you use normal attacks (the max level being nine, with special skills and abilities using up one or two levels for the most part). At the bottom is a burst gauge and as you smack enemies, it'll fill, and when enemies attack you, it'll lower. When it hits max you enter a combo mode which fills the special attack gauge to full and increases the power of all your special attacks. It also counts the number of hits you make in this mode, as it can affect the post-battle earnings, and some attacks can also deal more damage with a higher number of hits.

The story is nothing too great, graphics aren't too big of a departure from previous games, music is okay, and for some reason there is very little voice acting (WTF?), but overall this is turning out to be my favorite Atelier Iris game, if only for the high number of hot chicks. My one complaint is that it's too damn easy.

More impressions to follow.

Seems like you're just looking for something to complain about.

Ha ha ha.

Okay.

Hey look, for a minute there I thought it was Peter Moore talking.
3848  Media / Anime, TV, and Movies / So, Power Rangers. on: May 28, 2006, 11:20:21 AM
The greatest season of Power Rangers was In Space, when the evil forces joined together and almost took over the universe. Then they had to kill Zordon to unleash an energy wave that destroyed all the evil forces.
3849  Media / Anime, TV, and Movies / XMen III, Spoilers ahoy! on: May 27, 2006, 02:21:52 PM
Dude, John. Every character in the X-Men comics have died at least once and come back to life. :P

By my count Jean Grey's died like five times, at least.
3850  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Someone tell me on: May 25, 2006, 10:35:01 PM
Get Suikoden V, absolutely.

Wild Arms Alter Code F is good too if you can get past the shitty job Agetec did with the localization, though Wild Arms 3 and 4 aren't nearly as good.

The two Kingdom Hearts games are great fun, too, even if you don't like the whole Disney angle.
3851  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Favorite game that reviews/people hated on: May 25, 2006, 10:05:05 PM
Since the fact that a good chunk of the people here, a mod included, are CT fans.
3852  The Rest / General Discussions / *The* gamer-oriented question... on: May 25, 2006, 01:36:18 AM
When I need to.

Gaming is a large part of my life right now, but eventually, my time may become limited so I may have to give it up. I do have to get a job someday, and in my current profession-to-be (I'm a med school student), I don't see very much time for actual gaming after university. I mean, I've already had to cut back a ton due to school, having a full time job may just cut it off entirely.

We kill it and then kill it again. By killing it again I mean cooking it. I personally think it's more natural to eat it raw then it is to eat it cooked. That one of the reasons I didn't give up raw fish for a while.

That reasoning is like saying "animals have sex out in the open, so I'm giving up sex because doing it in the bedroom is unnatural."

If Lightning really is her name, then Squeenix has gone way too far with the weather inspired names. Cloud I can accept. Squall is okay. But Lightning? What's the protagonist of FF XIIII gonna be called? "Sunshine"? Are all FF heroes' parents hippies, or what the hell is the deal?

The next hero will be called Rainbow.
3855  The Rest / General Discussions / Bear eats monkey at zoo on: May 17, 2006, 01:17:55 PM
Well, this is kinda different in that monkeys aren't part of a bear's normal diet. Especially in a zoo, where stuff like this almost never happens, an abnormal occurance like this is still interesting, to say the least.

But then I'm kind of a biology freak, natural sciences fascinate me, especially when abnormal behaviors of animals come into play.
