1921  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Multiplayer, offline console RPGs... on: May 29, 2006, 05:24:40 PM
Here's a list for ya.

These six games are all isometric beat-em-ups with RPG character building:

Baldur's Gate Dark Alliance 1 + 2
Champions of Norrath 1 + 2
X-Men Legends 1 + 2

For the GameCube, Tales of Symphonia plays like a standard single-player RPG most of the time (Only one person is going to be moving on the world map and starting story sequences), but supports up to four players during battles.

For the PSOne, you've got Legend of Mana, and that's all I can think of off the top of my head.

Edit: The problem with FF: CC is that you really do need four players and four GameBoy Advances to take advantage of the game.  If you've got that, though, have at it.

1922  Media / Multiplayer RPGs / World of Warcraft OH MY GOD CURRENT EVENTS THREAD on: May 29, 2006, 12:39:10 PM
I re-rolled Rogue last August when I changed servers to Dark Iron.
1923  Media / Multiplayer RPGs / World of Warcraft OH MY GOD CURRENT EVENTS THREAD on: May 29, 2006, 03:39:47 AM
Ran me some ZG last night.

Got a Zulian Slicer, a Primal Hakkari Girdle, and finished my quest for a Belt of Preserved Heads.  We're taking down Hakkar tomorrow.

I'm pretty happy.
1924  Media / Anime, TV, and Movies / XMen III, Spoilers ahoy! on: May 27, 2006, 01:59:05 PM
Get ready for my ranty LJ entry, mainly about how this movie had nothing to do with the X-Men!

Whoo! Let's introduce a whole bunch of mutants! Except for Gambit. And let's toss Nightcrawler. Let's give none of them any development whatsoever. Oh, and the Juggernaut's a mutant, now. And he needs momentum to bust through objects... except for when Kitty Pryde puts him in the floor. Hey, since he's a mutant now, Leech can remove his powers! Let's also totally fuck with the relative ages of the characters - I mean, honestly, Angel was one of the first X-Men introduced in the comics. Yet he's younger than the majority of the people there.

Let's also kill off some characters that didn't die in the comics. Oh, and while we're killing random characters, let's remove any chance whatsoever that we'll see Cable in a possible sequel! GREAT JOB, WRITING STAFF!

Also, wtf, now that they've killed off a bunch of the characters, there goes a chance at doing an Apocalypse cycle! Let's also not mention ever that Scott Summers has a brother that worked for Magneto! Colossus isn't Russian anymore, either. Also, fuck that Psylocke bitch, she couldn't have made an interesting story! Moreover, let's make Kitty Pryde a love interest for Iceman, not for Colossus!

The Phoenix Saga was also approximately 8 minutes long in its entirety, according to this movie.

Glad to see forum members still don't read our articles.

1926  The Rest / General Discussions / *The* gamer-oriented question... on: May 25, 2006, 02:15:33 PM
Please.  The 'real' gaming question is this one:

Have you beaten Takeshi no Chousenjou?

1927  The Rest / General Discussions / RPGFan's E3 Awards on: May 23, 2006, 12:51:51 AM
Our awards were done a little differently than our personal top 5s - mainly it was a vote over dinner.  Everyone nominated a game that everyone had to go play on the second day of the show, and we voted on the third day.  Valkyrie Profile 2 won for overall, followed by Hellgate for PC, and then Rogue came in third overall for the console score.

Our top 5 was stuff that wowed us personally.

1932  The Rest / The Helper Monkey / Black Frost Question on: May 19, 2006, 04:03:39 PM
I've got one of those in my room!

It was a Japanese figure that was given away by Atlus at E3 2005.  It was a promotional item, listed as "Not For Sale" on the box - good luck on getting your hands on one

1935  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Final Fantasy releases, Japan to us on: May 17, 2006, 06:39:28 PM
Okay, left column is the Japanese release, right column in North American

Japanese---------------------|------------------North American
Final Fantasy (Famicon) -  Final Fantasy (NES)
Final Fantasy II (Famicon) - Final Fantasy II (Dawn of Souls (GBA)/Origins (PSOne))
Final Fantasy III (Famicon) - Final Fantasy III (DS)
Final Fantasy IV (Super Famicon) - Final Fantasy II (SNES), Final Fantasy IV (PSOne/GBA)
Final Fantasy V (Super Famicon) - Final Fantasy V (PSOne/GBA)
Final Fantasy VI (Super Famicon) - Final Fantasy III (SNES), Final Fantasy VI (PSOne/GBA)

Final Fantasy titles from VII onward have the same numbering system.

If you want to know about the GB FF titles (Adventure/Legend), I'm sure I can dig up which is SaGa and which is "of Mana".
