1996  The Rest / General Discussions / Revolution to play Genesis and Turbo Grafx games on: March 23, 2006, 05:06:38 PM

It's not 1000 games, but a "best of" selection of Genesis games.

I think the "best of" is for the TG16 games.  The article says "According to Nintendo, over 1,000 games for Sega's Genesis console, released in 1989, will be added to the Revolution's library."

Holy crap.  Does this mean Ys on the Rev?  I think so.

See, the one thing that sucks about new boards is we have to go and reban all the people who were banned before as they come up.

2000  The Rest / General Discussions / Game journal yeah whoo. on: March 23, 2006, 01:47:11 AM
Meh.  I'm not impressed.

Oblivion > Suik5.

Started Metal Gear Ac!d 2.  Much faster paced than the first one, I'm happy for that.

2001  Media / Miscellaneous Games / The OTHER Metal Gear - IN 3-D! on: March 23, 2006, 01:10:01 AM
So, anyone else have a chance to snag Metal Gear Ac!d 2?  It's much faster paced than the first game.  Still, though, if you're not a fan of the strategy stuff, it's not that great.  It is better than the first game, and the new cel shaded characters do look cool.  I'm still not sure if it ties in to the other Metal Gear games, but it does have some kind of linkage with MGS3: Subsistance.  Still, it's one of the better games for the PSP.

One note, though, is that the 3d shit sucks.  With half resolution for everything, 3-D doesn't do much to make up for it.

A Battlefield game I'm actually interested in!

2004  The Rest / General Discussions / Introduce yourself here on: March 21, 2006, 01:58:47 AM
I'm John.  I'm the boss around these here parts.  Been working for RPGFan for almost four years now, and started being the guy in charge of content about a year and a half ago.

I am most well known for this three or four-year-old picture of me as Mountain Dew Hat Man.  In more recent years, I've started to Shrink Wrap my head.

I write RPG reviews in my spare time.  Imagine that.  My favorite games are Fallout 1/2, Chrono Trigger, Civilization IV, and games from the Gran Turismo/Tourist Trophy series, as they come along.

I play the bass guitar.  I'm single as of this moment right now.  I'm fond of Midori and Vodka.  I build computers.  I don't take shit on these boards, and if you're stupid enough to break a couple of rules, you'll find yourself banned.  I drive a 2005 Mazda 3.  I have a Murky.

2006  The Rest / General Discussions / Xbox handheld still coming...? on: March 20, 2006, 07:31:28 PM
While I see the console market supporting three machines, I really don't see it happening anytime soon in the handheld market.  Certainly the PSP has expanded the kind of people who have a handheld, but I just don't see the target market for the Xbox springing for a portable any time soon.

The average video game player is estimated to be 25-30 years of age.
