Well, I've got a 1gb memory stick and have a full season (13 episodes) of a show on there without issue, though it's not the full resolution quality.  Since I get a discount at work, I'll buy some of the used movies ($5 is a good price), but I simply can't see it working very well at the current prices.  It's cool because I'm stuck on campus all day, but I buy most of my movies on DVD.

I'd like to see what everyone here thinks about the release of movies on UMD format.

I personally think it's a mixed bag.  I'd totally pick up some movies on UMD if they priced at $10 or less, but paying $15 or upwards of $25 for a UMD title is silly.

I did happen to get the first two seasons of Family Guy on UMD today for $25, which is what brought this up.  I'll get something like that, but wouldn't get it for the full retail price ($50).

It's a bit different for my example - we know what nuclear weapons do, but we've never experienced something like that firsthand.  It's like nudity on television in America vs in Canada and Europe.  While such images are acceptable in one place, they're unacceptable in another.  Everyone knows what nudity is, it just had a different effect on different people.

I personally don't feel as if it's a huge issue, we've certainly come much further than I would've expected compared to some of the dialogue in years past.  It's not like other things aren't watered down for general consumption - have you guys ever watched The Matrix on TBS?

Playing more into Boku no Watashi no Katamari Damacy (JP) - got to the stages where I'm going for more than five minutes.  There's no stages so far that are "go from 5 cm to 1000m" like in the console KD, but that's good, as you're never more than 10 minutes, so far.  It's got awesome pacing for a portable, I will give them props for that.

Waiting on Tourist Trophy to come in.  I will savor it.

Thanatos: I'd consider reading posts fully.  A quarter page is all you get, sometimes, when it comes to print.  If the title is not a large mainstream title, Often you only get two paragraphs to describe the game.  That's not the fault of the reviewer, but a fault of print as a whole.  Because bytes of data are far less inexpensive than pages of paper, the reviews on the internet tend to be far more detailed.

Shadow Hearts will likely sell less than 100,000 copies in America, whereas the newest iteration of Madden will sell more than 4 million.  Which do you cater to, the four million or the one hundred thousand?  Are you so daft that you don't see the difference?

She mentioned nothing about Yuri in the review, but did mention how the new cast wasn't as strong as the old cast, which is a completely valid complaint.  I don't believe the cast is nearly as strong as Covenant's.  I disliked Johnny, didn't think much of anything of Natan, thought Mao was useless and flat out didn't care about anyone but Frank, and even he wasn't that great.  While XSEED's translation is top-notch, I never once felt attached to the characters.

The writing style of a print-magazine review is going to be far different than an online review, specifically because of space.  I never had more than 500 words to work with in reviews of any kind when I wrote for the UNLV paper, but my RPGFan reviews regularly exceed 1500 words.  When a title doesn't have a large imprint on the industry, the review is going to be much more concise.  I think that the review is just fine, she touched on the major points (increased difficulty, new setting, changed cast) that the reader of a magazine is going to care about.  Again, consider your audience.  Don't you remember English 101?

I think you're also confusing quite a bit between a 'fan' and a 'fanboy'.

We'll use Urban Dictionary to compare.

Fan: A person who has interest or likes something, or somebody. Can refer to many things including sports, movie stars, food/drink and so on. Basically anybody that likes something.

Fanboy: A passionate fan of various elements of geek culture (e.g. sci-fi, comics, Star Wars, video games, anime, hobbits, Magic the Gathering, etc.), but who lets his passion override social graces.

Now, as much as I enjoy RPGs, I don't believe I'm a fanboy to the genre - there are far more RPGs that I dislike than there are games that I really enjoy.  If you could call me a fanboy to anything, it would be to Firaxis games, which I buy the day they're released, regardless of reviews or other information about the game.  Now, if the site were called "RPGFanBoy", I might be inclined to agree.  Not in this case, however.

For a game that you haven't even played, you certainly are defending the cast quite a bit.  Your original, unedited post was nothing more than anger over something you haven't had any hands-on experience with, and even your edit made little sense with the initial comment.  'She gave it an 8, the dumb bitch' and 'oh, well, she's just mad about the new cast' when the new cast is a valid issue in regards to the title don't back each other up.

Remember, an argument is a conclusion plus reasons.  An opinion is simply a conclusion.  You have to remember that your reasons have to be relevant to your argument.
