1996  Media / Miscellaneous Games / The OTHER Metal Gear - IN 3-D! on: March 23, 2006, 01:10:01 AM
So, anyone else have a chance to snag Metal Gear Ac!d 2?  It's much faster paced than the first game.  Still, though, if you're not a fan of the strategy stuff, it's not that great.  It is better than the first game, and the new cel shaded characters do look cool.  I'm still not sure if it ties in to the other Metal Gear games, but it does have some kind of linkage with MGS3: Subsistance.  Still, it's one of the better games for the PSP.

One note, though, is that the 3d shit sucks.  With half resolution for everything, 3-D doesn't do much to make up for it.

A Battlefield game I'm actually interested in!

I'm John.  I'm the boss around these here parts.  Been working for RPGFan for almost four years now, and started being the guy in charge of content about a year and a half ago.

I am most well known for this three or four-year-old picture of me as Mountain Dew Hat Man.  In more recent years, I've started to Shrink Wrap my head.

I write RPG reviews in my spare time.  Imagine that.  My favorite games are Fallout 1/2, Chrono Trigger, Civilization IV, and games from the Gran Turismo/Tourist Trophy series, as they come along.

I play the bass guitar.  I'm single as of this moment right now.  I'm fond of Midori and Vodka.  I build computers.  I don't take shit on these boards, and if you're stupid enough to break a couple of rules, you'll find yourself banned.  I drive a 2005 Mazda 3.  I have a Murky.

2001  The Rest / General Discussions / Xbox handheld still coming...? on: March 20, 2006, 07:31:28 PM
While I see the console market supporting three machines, I really don't see it happening anytime soon in the handheld market.  Certainly the PSP has expanded the kind of people who have a handheld, but I just don't see the target market for the Xbox springing for a portable any time soon.

The average video game player is estimated to be 25-30 years of age.

I have a Yamaha RBX-270F.  I rarely play it anymore, but it sure is pretty.

This game sucks.  It's like an mmo lawls.

(I just started, so I don't really have an opinion of the game, yet.  It is pretty, though.)

May for a PAL release.  :-)

State-side I'm guessing, well might see it by August here.

Nope.  NTSC US release is April.  It's being released in PAL territories (Europe, Austrailia) in May.

2009  Media / Miscellaneous Games / Sid Meier's Railroads! on: March 16, 2006, 02:27:15 PM
For the first time, I am not all that excited for a Firaxis game.

Sid Meier's Railroads! is the newest game in the Railroad Tycoon series.  We'll see.  Firaxis has always made awesome games, so hopefully it'll be totally sweet despite being based on railroads.

2010  Media / Miscellaneous Games / Tourist Trophy on: March 16, 2006, 01:30:53 PM
The game has the same physics engine and graphics engine as GT4, so you figure it'd play exactly the same... not even close.  The game's much, much more difficult, especially on pro, what with the seperate front and rear brakes.

The game's career mode has a much different feel - there are no more credits.  Bikes have one of five levels, from none to super, which compare to one of the four licenses.  Once you've passed that license test, you can do what's called a 'challenge race' with that new shiny bike you want.  If you complete the challenge (so far, it's just been "stay ahead of that guy for 10 seconds"), you get that bike.  Simple, but tough for me, so far.
