So, after this new format is fixed, we won't be required to register yet again, will we? And if you do not mind me asking, why you felt the need to transfer servers? I liked the old forum the way it was.

The change in forums is not the reason we changed servers, but a consequence.  These PHPBB boards are here to stay, because Invision now costs.  We're not going to pay $200 for our board system.

And we changed servers because we found a provider that gave us much more support, better bandwidth, and faster speeds for the same price we were paying.  If you don't like it, sorry to say it, but tough shit.  The site is exactly the same except for the boards.  Once everything is ironed out (you remember the post that said 2-3 days downtime?  This is those 2-3 days as we get shit fixed), it will run fine.

Look at it this way: You lost, what, post count and a board type?

I've spent well over 100 hours getting us over to this new server in addition to what I do for the site, and I'm not even doing the boards.  We're planning better things for RPGFan (can you say movies?).  So quit your bitching.  The site's still within the period I set for complete downtime, but we were up a little sooner than I expected.

2073  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Ys: The Ark of Napishtim PSP on: March 02, 2006, 02:57:04 PM
Well, the PSP version of Ys6 came out yesterday.

I'm rather disappointed.  The soul of the game is still intact, but it's killed by its loading times and lack of VA.  Between each zone, it's 4-8 seconds of loading.  It's really kind of shitty, as you'll go through a ton of zones to get somewhere.

Still, it's Ys and it's fun.. just disappointing.

This is way closer to Dragon Force than FFT/Shining Force/Disgaea.

RPGFan review once our updater is working again.

About the whole Otaku thing...well, I have not lived in Japan, so I do not know the culture too well, but I can assume its like being called an obsessive fanatic.

Otaku literally means 'house'.  Used in the insulting context, you're a geek who never leaves your house.

Last time I checked these boards were linked to a website somehow.

Yeah the new guy didn't rummage through a news to find a post over a month old. What's this board coming to.

But he did rummage through Joystiq to get a post that's over a month old.

2078  Site Related & More / Forum Rules & Info / RPGFan Rules on: March 01, 2006, 02:24:31 AM
Picture and Avatar rules:

Please keep inline images to one of the standard picture or chat threads.  Broadband has expanded greatly since the initial posting of these rules, but we still strive to be bandwidth-friendly.

Avatars can be a maximum of 100X100, and signatures may be a maximum of 450wx150h.  The combined size of your avatar and signature must be 250k or under, and either can be animated as long as you meet these size requirements.  PNG, GIF, and JPEG are all acceptable - no SWF Flash files.

Do not include massive animations in your posts.  Ever.

We here at RPGFan do not support piracy in the least.  Please do not request or post about Emulators, ROMs, ISOs, etc, or information relating to anything of the sort.  This includes, but is not limited to: copyrighted music, console and PC games, and feature films.  We support these industries both as an outlet and consumers ourselves.  We expect you to do the same.  Thanks.

Usernames should contain nothing offensive and be relegated to twenty characters or less.  We reserve the right to change your username at any time.

We reserve the right to ban you at any time for any reason.  You know that wonderful first amendment argument you think about every time someone says you can't do something online?  Yeah, apparently you slept through high school government class on that one.  The first amendment applies to public forums, like city hall etc, and the government.  This is not a public forum, nor are we the government.  As this is our private forum, we can edit your posts, ban you, or do any number of things.  If you don't like it, too bad.

While swearing is not against the rules on our boards, keep it within a normal spectrum.  Constantly swearing is going to do nothing but gain my ire.  Racism, Sexism, or anything of the like will not be tolerated, jokingly or not.  RPGFan is a PG website; posts in general threads should be appropriate for 13 year old users.

More rules to come

Please post here so I can toss you into the right group.

No non-staffers post here, please, or I will ban your ass.

2081  The Rest / General Discussions / holy hideous forums on: February 27, 2006, 09:33:00 PM
So, yeah, things will be changing up soon.  With Invisionboard now costing, we've moved to a new free board, PHPBB.  No smilies, either, despite what's right of the posting stuff.
