1471  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Something to consider(about Matsuno and the ogre battle saga on: November 01, 2007, 10:18:32 PM
Just play Tactics Ogre. That game has enough replay value with all the different endings. In fact, I think I'm going to do that. I miss that game.

I had to stop when she started talking about Sonic pissing and vomiting in her mouth. WTF is wrong with people?

If it turns out to be true, Atlus is the best company in the world.
1474  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Final Fantasy VI translated to LATIN (56k be warned) on: October 19, 2007, 11:57:20 AM
Reminds me of an Eddie Izzard joke.

"I’ve done a bit of Latin in me time, but I can control it, you know. I never let it get out of hand, I just… have a dealer and… he sells me Latin transcripts, and you know, “Okay…” (mimes effects of Latin) so that late at night you just feel like translating Latin for a bit, upstairs, smoking in the coats’ room. I don’t know what I’m talking about now. No, I did, I did Latin, I learnt “Amo, amas, amat…” “Amo, amas, amatis, amant,” and it comes in handy. Yes! Sometimes you’re queuing at a petrol station at 3:00A.M. in the morning, and there’s a line of murderers behind you, and you turn around and go, “Amo, amas, amat! Amo, amas, amatis, amant!” and they go, “Fuck! He knows Latin! (mimes running away) He knows a dead language! Run! Head for the hills! Head for Azerbaijan! Run down the Fort Court!”

At the capcom boards, fans were asked what they thought of the trailer, and encouraged to give their input on what they would like to see/not see in SF IV. I gave my own input, and there's lots of smart posts there from hardcore fighting game fans.

Here's the thread.

This is great news, for the obvious reasons. I wonder, if this version does well overseas, are we going to see more remakes of the earlier games in the future?

I'm looking forward to it. With this and Advance Wars DS 2 it looks like my DS is going to be running hot with strategy game goodness.

I can't wait. What I'm really hoping for is that AW DS 2 has wi fi battles. They can't be that stupid that they won't include this after the first DS game, can they? I still haven't played another human in AW because no one I know plays it.
1478  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Etrian Odyssey II on: October 07, 2007, 10:21:26 PM

Although I loved Etrian Odyssey at first, I grew tired of it around floor 20-25 and ended up selling it, mostly because the game was 80% combat and 20% exploration and by that point, I felt like I had mastered the battle system to the point that it became stale and boring since it's not like there was a stirring narrative to be found.  From the look of things, Etrian Odyssey 2 is going to be more of the same, just with a few new classes and a different dungeon so I'm going to have to pass.  Then again, I could be wrong and the sequel could actually have more of a story and more interesting dungeon events.

That sums up my thoughts pretty well. The scary part is, Etrian Odyssey is the 2nd best selling IP for Atlus Japan!

No wonder a sequel is getting approved this fast.

I wanted the dungeon to have more events that happened as well, but I still enjoyed the game regardless.

I wish there was a way to contact the makers of the game to give them more ideas to add to the game.

It's not an easy game either since it has permanent deaths like Fire Emblem or Final Fantasy Tactics,

I think you mean Tactics Ogre. FFT didn't have permanent deaths. It kind of did, but you had three turns before that happened. And that never happens because the game isn't that hard.

I'm very excited about this.
1483  Media / Single-Player RPGs / TGS is around the corner... what do you look forward to? on: September 18, 2007, 05:48:26 PM
Quote from: "RPGRocker"
Hmm, what does TGS have in store for me?

Breath of Fire VI
Chrono Break
Lunar 3
New Ogre
New Lufia
Quintet announces a new Soul Blazer installment

To be a little more realistic, I'd like to see a new (console) Front Mission, more Infinite Discovery details, and more Star Ocean 4 info.

Capcom has three big announcements on Wednesday, which probably means we'll see the news sometime this evening. I was hoping one of the announcements would be a new BoF game. It's doubtful, but still worth hoping for.

I want to see Megami Tensei DS or Etrian Odyssey 2. Either of those and I'd be happy.

I have a similar love-hate thing for Radiata Stories.  The game is terrible, the story is depressing, the battles are bland and repetitive, and the music leaves much to be desired.  But I always wanna play the game every so often.

I know what you mean. I logged in about 20 hours of that game, and I couldn't play anymore and I traded it in, but I keep having this feeling of wanting to buy it again and play it. There's something charming about it.
