If I had a Wii, and actually liked BoFII, I'd buy it. But I only liked from III on.

A couple times isn't worth the ten points you put into it. Those points would be better elsewhere on a Survivalist if you ask me. One point would probably be good enough to save you from a pre emp from the enemy. But, like, I said whatever you like to do. Everyone plays the game differently.

I like to try different party/character combinations myself. Some from exploring, for bossing, and for fun. They way you and Willy talk make it seem like everything you've done is set in stone and you don't want to try different things. XD

Doesn't this game need atleast two play throughs to discover all the social links? And possibly reach to the top of the tower?

If you want to have fun with it you need two playthroughs for the S.Links, but if you use the nights before the full moon you could probably get to the top of Tartarus in one. I actually think that's how you get the good ending, but I'm not 100% sure on that.

Nope.

"Nope." what? Maybe you could expand on that a little more, please, thanks.

Use a Hexer and Dark Hunter for some bind+Ecstasy fun! It's awesome when your enemy is helpless.

Have you tried a battle medic build yet? A battle medic with maxed attack and Caduceus can out damage a Axe Land and possibly a Ronin if I remember correctly. A medic can still be an excellent healer with a battle medic build. Immunize is awesome, almost cheap since it also counts physical attacks as an element. I can't see getting through the 6th Stratum without it though.

I use a Sword Land myself for Allslash and the elemental chasers paired with my all element Alchemist.

With the Protector, remember to only put his anti element skills up to 5, any points after that there's a glitch. I can't remember what it is. At 5 points they null the damage completely though.

Survivalist. I don't really see any purpose of maxing out Aware. It's pretty useless. I've never been ambushed by the enemy. 5 points into Ambush is enough. Apollon is a very good attack that you should max out, but whatever you want to do. It's the Survivalists strongest attack. Maybe one of the strongest attacks in the game below Ecstacy.

Some people don't have the time to play a game more than once

I don't mean multiple playthroughs. And I'm not condemning anything. I just don't see the fun in going out of your way to find out every little detail then basically mechanically walk through the motions, basically. It's sort of a game that's meant to be explored.

I was going to use Gamefaqs yesterday to find something out, but I stopped myself. I didn't want to ruin the game experience like I have with so many past games.

When i realized just how much of the game i had been missing, i restarted the game. To my memory this is the first time i have ever done this on a console game. :(

My new strategy is to spend as little time as possible in Tartarus and focus almost entirely on developing my character's social skills. As another poster stated, the night before the full moon "trick", if you could call it that, is a godsend.

What trick is this?

Heh, I had a discussion about this game recently with a friend. I haven't played it, but he had, and he said that it was awful. Overall, the game was broken. The gameplay didn't work well at all, according to him. However, the plot was interesting. I would be willing to try it out if it were sold for $10. :P

My GF had it for a short while, and I tried to help her with some boss battles. The control is horrible.

The best thing about it was probably the music and story. Which isn't saying much.

Gladly. Someone who's more in the know should fish up the proper contact stuff.

I've emailed Atlus plenty of times.

Anyone that likes this game a whole lot should email Atlus and let them know. That way, we can be a step closer for a possible FES translation later on down the road.
1495  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Tactics Ogre on: August 18, 2007, 10:23:55 AM
I'll say it. I like Tactics Ogre better than FFT! Not by leaps and bounds. I still think FFT is a great game. Tactics Ogre is a better strat RPG, though. Maybe because there's more strategy.

More challenging, better story(More story options because of multiple endings)and a sort of 2 player mode that can be used in training. I just wish the PSX port wasn't so slow with the menus and such. No one ever bothered to translate the SNES version because there was already a PSX port.

Just started it last night and got up to the revealing of Tartarus.

Love everything so far. Voice acting is top notch too. Junpei is hilarious, and Yukari is a very believable young, high school girl. Akihiko's voice is great as well. The only slightly bad voice is the Chair man's, but he's not terrible. It fits his personality, I suppose.

That was from that video showing what cat nip does to cats. There was like 7-10 cats all around these cat nip plants going nuts.

Here it is.

Ok. I guess that picture wasn't from the video. It's still interesting anyways. :P

What characters are you using? And what are your character builds? Depending on your builds, resting might not be such a bad idea. You might not have good enough builds for the floor that you're on.

My builds seem alright. Dungeon crawling is mostly hard because I don't have a healer. However, bosses pose no problem even remotely. I don't really feel like going into what skills I have. The root of the matter is deeper than that. While I (maybe) could go all the way down to the bottom with my current party, why would I when I don't gain experience for killing monsters. That's part of the fun for me. And conversely, if I did rebuild, why would I want to spend time regaining levels I already lost in order to do them again, but "better" this time.

It's a game play formula that doesn't really appeal to me. Not to diss the game, I just think that the leveling system is too discouraging for me.

That's fine. Every game has a level cap though, so I don't see what the complaint is. Some are just higher than others, and most games won't let you reset your characters to change them around. Once you reach level 99 or whatever in most games and you allocated your skills, that's it, you're stuck with what you made.

I also just realized your problem. No healer. The Medic's Immunize skill is basically a must have at those levels of the dungeon. It protects against elements as well as physical attack. Pair this with the Protector's Defender skill and you have an ultimate defense barrier.  The protectors anti element skills are also a must have at these levels. But only bring them to level 5, because that's the only level where they null the damage.

I had to quit this game today. I got down to level 25 and then, suddenly, 4 out of my 5 members stopped gaining experience points. Then I realized that this game has a level cap at level 70. I really liked the classes my members were so I didn't want to restart them on a new class, and sending them back to level 1 for a nominal stat boost seemed pretty silly. So, I'm pretty bummed. I really want to get to the last stratum but without leveling up, what's the god damn point?

Oh well, D&D Tactics comes out soon and this game was going to get put away soon enough anyway.

Why don't you just rest your characters? They only lose 10 levels and you get to reallocated all those points, plus 8 extra if you rest at 70. Any higher levels, I think, would make the game less balanced. The cap is 70 for a reason.

Because I don't want to continuously regain the same 10 levels over and over again and I especially don't want to be frozen on the same floor I'm on while I regain enough experience to continue onward. Also, (surprisingly) the game is still hard at level 70. I'm hardly blowing through the floors like you might expect. I think you are meant to have restarted your characters (thus accumulating bonus points) several times. Seems like a very strange way to handle it though. Why wouldn't they just have more levels instead? Sheesh.

What characters are you using? And what are your character builds? Depending on your builds, resting might not be such a bad idea. You might not have good enough builds for the floor that you're on.
