1501  Media / Anime, TV, and Movies / Anime/Manga Journal on: November 20, 2006, 12:31:06 PM
I don't watch much anime. My girlfriend watches alot of it, and occasionally she'll find something that she thinks will interest me.

Right now, it's Death Note. This anime is so good. I've never watched an anime that had me on the edge of my seat for practically every episode. And it keeps getting better each episode I watch. The whole cat and mouse game between L and Light is brilliant.

She's going to be picking up alot of the mangas for me for xmas, so I can't wait to read those.
1502  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Worst RPG you've ever played. on: November 20, 2006, 12:20:39 PM
My vote goes to Magna Carta.

I really tried to give this game a chance. In fact, I want to give it a second chance if I ever find another copy.

When I first tried it, I remember getting up to the tutorial of the battle system. Then, right after that, I just turned it off. It was so unappealing to me. Maybe it was just around the time that I bought it and I wasn't in the mood for a game like that. I'm not sure. This was the only game I've ever done this with though. I've never boughten a game, especially an RPG, that I haven't liked atleast a little bit, except for Magna Carta.

I can't wait to read it. Hurry up! :P

You only had to wait eight hours - it's up now.

A fair review. It's what I expected the score to be around because of the basic gameplay.

I'll still be picking this up eventually because I enjoy a standard RPG from time to time.
1504  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Whats next after DQ8 on: November 08, 2006, 04:13:03 PM

I totally thought this would be a discussion on where DQ would be going as a series after VIII. :P

I thought the same thing. >_< This could have gone in the RPG recommendation thread.

Aren't they making a first person Dragon Quest title for the Wii?

I checked it out at work a few days ago and I really really......am let down.

It's not Mana....it feels less than Legend of Mana felt.

You think so?

I thought it felt alot like Legend of Mana when I was playing, and it actually made me want to play Legend of Mana more. Go figure.

I think all of us could look past it better had it had online playability: Seriously, who here wouldn't at least like to give it a go or two online?

I actually thought it had global Wi-fi, but then I bought it and found out it didn't. I was dissapointed.

I read an interview with one of the creators of the game. He said the reason they only had global Wi-Fi was because they wanted the multi player to be more personal and between friends. I think that's a load of crap. I don't need my multi player experience to be personal, I just want it to be fun. I could care less who I was playing with.

Looks awesome!

Is it true that Eric from That 70's Show is playing Eddie Brock? I don't see it. He's way too skinny to be Eddie Brock.

I can understand why you wouldn't like it. I just don't think it's as bad you're making it out be. I can, and I'm sure many other people, look past things like reptitive dungeons and things like that because I'm just playing to pass the time.

I wanted a game to play while I go on the subway and long train rides, and this is perfect. I have other, more rewarding RPGs on home consoles that I do enjoy much more than this game, but for a handheld game, this isn't so bad.

I picked it up. It's not terrible by any means.

I'm not really seeing the problem with the character movement like you mentioned. They run smoothly and I'm able to dodge attacks when necessary.

The gem system does keep things interesting, and the fact that you can only equip in town or at the end of a series of floors adds some difficulty.

I wish the game was a little harder, and that the enemies were more aggressive. I can sit in front of an enemy and they won't attack for atleast 5-10 seconds. I can see why the game got generally average scores. You're basically just mashing the whole time, and while you can die, it's not too likely.

I think it's a nice distraction for DS owners waiting for Final Fantasy III. I wish I had people to play with, it would make the experience alot more fun. I find the game fun as it is though.

@V-Dawg-I never understand when people complain about repitition in a game. Every game is repititive. No matter what game you're playing, there's always going to be something you're going to be doing over and over again, so why complain? Of course, some games keep the repitition from being far less boring than others, but in the end, you're still doing the same things.

That's weird. Never had any problems with the D-pad on my DS lite. No clicking sound or anything.

Did anyone pick up Children of Mana?

Actually, they like FF. It's the FF fanboys they hate.

Morgan may like it, but Adam's consistantly slammed the series and has given pretty much every FF game a bad score since the old Extended Play days.

Now that's fair. lol "I don't like this game. Automatic bad scores!"

Cool, thanks guys. Do any of you guys use the screen protectors I talked about above? Do you have any thoughts on them? Does the bottom screen get scrathed all up from the stylus if you don't use those protectors?

The Hori brand screen protectors are the best you can use. I've boughten them a few times, but haven't been able to get them on properly without dust getting stuck underneath, or something else stupid happening.

I just bought a case for my DS. I've gotten a couple scratches on the screen, but none that effect my gaming experience. They're only noticeable from certain angles. If you hate knowing that there's scratches at all on it, then buy the screen protectors.

While it's not an RPG, I highly recommend Advance Wars DS. I've already put in 98 hours into this game without even realizing it. The only RPG I've put that amount of time into was FFVII, but the timer stops at 99:57:57, so I actually put more time into that one.

Put them aside. Go get it. It's better.

I've read enough about it to know what to expect. I can wait. I'd rather finish Digital Devil Saga and Devil Summoner first. No rush, it's not going anywhere.

I've  been playing for about 9 or so hours, just get it. It's worth it.

I knew from the beginning it'd be worth it. I can't get it yet though, too many other games to play.
