That's crazy. How can you take off 3.5 points just because you think the story wasn't fleshed out enough?

While I did not make the statement, I can explain how they did it.

10.0 - 3.5 = 6.5

I understand math.

And I'm pretty sure you understood what I meant. Taking 3.5 points off just because you feel the story wasn't fleshed out enough isn't fair point dedcution. I anything, it should bring the game to a 8.5 or a 9

And besides, there's going to be more story in the DS FFXII game..

As I'm scrolling through menus to decide if I want to "attack" or use magic or an item the enemy is continuing to attack me...kinda like in FFX-2 (which I gave up playing because of this fact).

You dont like ATB? It's not like it's new or anything. Shit....Chrono Trigger had it.

Edit: And dont listen to Dasch when it comes to Suikdoen V....it's long and the story is slow, but it's a solid game.

ATB is the best. It makes so much sense. Do you think the enemy is really going to sit there while you think about what to do next? Of course not. They're going to kill you until you figure out what to do.

I haven't played any of the games mentioned yet, so I can't really give you an opinion on them. Based on reading many previews of FFXII, I can tell it will be my favorite FF next to VI and VII. It might even top those two just based on the battle system.

I made one play through when I had my GBA. It was a fun game, and the characters were likeable. Battling was a blast. Trying to keep weapons you loved was hard sometimes because of limited item space though, and the fact that they break overtime.  Worth a play through, definitely.
1701  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney or Magical Starsign? on: October 24, 2006, 09:50:26 PM
Didn't you read all the posts to your Phoenix Wright thread?

That you should help you with your choice. I don't know why you made a new thread to ask the same question.

I bought it a few weeks ago on impulse because I ran across it on Walmart's site, and it had previously been kind of hard to find. I played through about half of it, and then sold it. Of what I did play I can say that it seems like a very good-quality game...if you're in the mood for that sort of thing. However, I wasn't. I have been bogged down with technical reading in my work of late, and just didn't find the need for more critical thinking an enjoyable way to relax. I wound up buying March of the Minis and Viewtiful Joe: Double Trouble instead, and am much happier. Will I eventually come back to PW? Probably. Again, it seemed like a very interesting, and likely enjoyable, game. I just wasn't up for it at the time.

If you're going to play it again eventually, then why did you sell it?

Seems like a waste of money.

The game is definitely great.

Each court case has a really good story to it, and you can't wait to find out what happens next. It's also a pretty funny game as well.

I'm glad they added the extra chapter to the DS version, otherwise it would've felt too short.

I got this game yesterday.  <3 the whole fucking thing.  I got really pissed off during the first episode, though.  Every time I fused a new demon, I ended up needing one of the demons I fused to get past a section. :P

Sure, it's really easy (and only gets easier once you can fuse a demon to your sword), but it's awesome, and that's way more important to me. :P

Naked bathhouse boxing for the fucking win.

I think they made it easier than their past SMT games to make it more accessable to people that haven't played SMT before. Which is no problem for me. I'd rather not have this game be really hard, so I can just have fun playing it, and then move on to other games I want to play.

I just picked this game up a few days ago and I'm liking it alot so far.

I haven't found anything wrong with Demon AI yet. The battle system isn't amazing, but there's nothing really that bad about it. It's fun. I actually died two times last night. >_> This changed when I found out that I should use block in this game. lol

I like the NPCs that just walk around, but you can't talk to them. That gives the impression, to me, that not everyone has something important to say to you. It adds to the game.

How long is this game anyways? And is there sidequests? I put DDS aside to play this for now, then I'll get back and finish DDS and move on to DDS 2, then finally finish Persona 2. I'm on a Shin Megami Tensei run.
1706  Media / Single-Player RPGs / FFXII "out" on: October 10, 2006, 04:38:01 PM
I went into a couple Gamestop's and EB's and they had tons of copies stocked up in the glass cases behind their counters. This was about a month ago.

I wanted to ask if I could buy one, but they obvisouly couldn't sell it yet. I wanted it so bad though! Why do they have them in stock more than a month before it comes out, but they can't sell it?

Because not everyone there has a PS2 console capable of playing US games? :P

Oh, okay. I didn't realize the PS2s in Europe only played European games.

I thought the region lock was only on Japanese games.[/quote]

For the Europeans that can read English, why don't they/you just import the American versions?

Ok this is going to sound like trolling but how can anybody play this game? It feels like playing a first generation PS1 game with pathetic control, irritating battles and bland music. And having a character portrait 99% the size of the entire screen present for 90% of the entire battle didn't help any.

I didn't like a single thing about this game.

Seriously, did tri-Ace actually make this?

I only played about 20 hours into this game, but when DQVIII came out, I traded it in towards that. I liked what I played of it.

Someone mentioned this earlier, but the way the NPCs worked really did make the game come alive. I also liked the settings. Battles were nothing spectacular as mentioned,I wish there was more to them.

I wouldn't mind picking the game up again just to finish it. I didn't think it was bad, but it wasn't amazing either. It was just..good.

I think the game looks damn good.  I would like to see some high quality screenshot, though.  The look of this game actually makes me mildly interested in the Playstation 3.

Do you expect any game on the PS3 to look bad though? At this point, every game should look good on a next generation console.
