The OST is absolutely amazing.

For a while, it seemed like Shoji Meguro had reached his creative peak.  Nocturne, DDS and the new Devil Summoner all sound incredibly similar.  P3 is completely fresh.  I had no idea the guy had this kind of range.

I got the OST as well and I love it. And like everyone else is saying, it sounds really fresh. I love that modern/jazzy feel to it. The vocals in alot of the tracks is really cool too. .

I've also had a chance to play the import of P3. While I don't know anything that's going on, really. I can say that this is going to be one of my favorite RPGs. The whole presentation and style of the game is just amazing.

What they really should have done is bundled VP together with VP2. VP can't be that big of a game, I bet it could have fit on the DVD that VP 2 is on, or they could have made it two discs. They just wanted to make more money. =/

Unless you already have a PSP, there's really no reason to go out and buy one for this game. I got a used copy of VP off ebay for $40, which I ended up reselling for $65.

Yesterday's edition of Gamepot's On The Spot had a brief demo of the japanese version of Persona 3 (it's a little past the middle part of the show). I liked what I saw, but the summoning animations seemed a bit lengthy if you have to perform them many times in each battle.

I read that article. They talk about how the summons don't take a long time, actually.

I've heard the Japan enjoys the androgenous characters or y'know the cross-dressing type (a la Albel [SO3], Van [FF12], Mithos [ToS], etc.) ...Do ya s'pose the idea of Joan of Arc would therefore be appealing to them?? (I say this half jokingly)

If you look at Visual Kei bands like Malice Mizer, Moi Dix Mois and Dir en Grey, you would see that Japan is into cross dressing.I don't really know how mainstream these bands are in Japan. I've seen interviews with them on talk shows,so I imagine these bands are fairly popular.

When I first saw the guitarist for Malice Mizer, I couldn't tell if it was guy or a girl.

They should have just made it for the DS instead.

Indescribable Grief-Valkyrie Profile:Silmeria OST.

Kick ass battle theme. I actually like this OST better than the first.

For non videogame music, I'll have to say Death-Scavenger of Human Sorrow.
1733  Media / Single-Player RPGs / This Fall/Winter is gonna suck....but is also awesome. on: July 18, 2006, 11:12:00 AM
Final Fantasy XII and Valkyrie Profile:Silmeria for me. :D And Persona 3 if it comes out this year. I'm assuming it's going to be out next year though.

I just downloaded the soundtrack for VP2 and it's making me want to play it even more.

your feelings on ff12 dont suprise me considering your disdain for action oriented rpg's.

I would hardly call FFXII "action oriented."

Quote
I find the irony in calling FF12 an action oriented RPG highly amusing.  The main reason why I dislike the game is because it's anything but action oriented - it's very slow paced (not as slow as FFXI, but close) and combat isn't very involving (setup your AI system well and you can win just about any fight without entering a single command).

That's the whole point though. I don't want to sit there pressing X mindlessly through battles when I don't need to. You can set the AI to heal status affects, etc. If you're going to cure a person of poison, why not have it set up to do it automatically when someone is afflicted with it instead of navigating through your spells to find a cure poison spell?

I just think this change to the battle system is really nice.

As for games I'm looking forwards to:
Valkyrie Profile 2:Silmeria
Persona 3
FFXII
Children of Mana
FFIII

I know enough musical instruments.

And I meant game wise. If this is your preferred genre to play and you only get 3 games a year, what other kind of games are you going to play?

I play alot of fighting games. And other odd games, like Katamari Damacy.

And there's still alot of old RPGs I haven't beaten that I'd like to beat before buying new ones.

I would hope people do other things besides just sit at home and play video games. =P

I like to do pretty much the same things as you, Dincrest. I play bass as well, but I don't have a band. It's more of a hobby. Something I want to take to a certain level and just enjoy it.

(Sorry for the double post, wanted a bumb :P)

New movie.  Pretty interesting scenes and it has a lot of new gameplay footage.  Graphics look pretty sweet.  The artwork looks so fricken awsome and just everything about it looks stylish as hell.  The gun-to-the-head summon doesn't look as bad as I thought (I imagined a lot of blood).

The more I see of this game, the more I can't wait for it. I love the way it looks.

Since I love fighters, and I love the art for this game.I decided to get a custom joystick made with some Persona 3 art. Check it out.

1738  Media / Single-Player RPGs / First RPG? on: May 26, 2006, 12:42:22 PM
The first RPG that I played that I knew was an RPG was FFVI.

Technically my first RPG was Dragon Warrior for NES. But I was young then and didn't know it was an RPG. It was just a really cool game.

I also didn't know Chrono Trigger was an RPG when I played it. When I was walking on the world map I was expecting to get into random battles, but that wasn't the case. =P I thought that Magus was the end of the game too because it was such a hard battle at the time for me.I didn't even have Fire Sword or Spire at the time. I sucked at games back then.

After defeating Magus and realizing the game was ALOT longer than I thought it was, I was really shocked. I didn't know games could be that long at the time.

Being a kid was awesome.

Secret of Evermore was a very underrated game.  It was good in its own right, but it did feel like sloppy seconds to many gamers who compared it to the Mana games that Japan got.

Still, the one thing that bothered me about Secret of Evermore was that it was quite buggy in places.

I didn't notice buggy things in a game when I was 12 or 13 because I was just enjoying the experience.

What are some bugs in the game you found?
1740  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Favorite game that reviews/people hated on: May 24, 2006, 04:20:41 PM
Oh yeah. I completely forgot about Secret of Evermore. I loved that game.

I got it for my birthday one year and didn't stop playing it until I beat it. I liked the settings/scenery in the game, and the battle system, like SoM's, was very fun. And I liked the whole alchemy thing.

I might have to go back and play this one again. Great game.
