I grabbed the game this afternoon and I've been playing for 5 hours now. This one is a Godsend for us RPGFans. I haven't been this into a JRPG in a very long time. Everything is spot on so far.
I'd even go as far as to say it's the first time at that much into an RPG... ever! I've spent 16 hours in two days and a half... For me, I think this is a record (I rarely play more than 1-2 hours a day usually). It's definitely one of the most enjoyable games I've played in my whole life! It's ridiculous to think that NoA originally wanted to keep us from playing this!

Mondo-thanks for all the great suggestions guys! I think I have drafted up a fair list of titles to start with... I just still can't decide the model to get.... These XL's seem to be the way to go though.... maybe I'll just grab one of them and GBA seperate....
Have you considered a 3DS? It's slightly more expensive than a DSi XL, but you'll be able to play 3DS games as well. It'll save you some money in the long run. The eShop is starting to look pretty decent too. It doesn't support GBA games, but if you really want to play those, GBA SPs are very cheap nowadays. You should be able to buy one for less than $30. Actually..... no I didn't..... I was thinking all about screens and being cost effective..... ok throw 3ds into the equation as an option as well..... oppinions? Honestly, I have a 3DS but I continue to use my DS Lite to play DS games. I don't like how the 3DS emulates the DS; because the resolution of the screen is different, the pixels are blurry and the games just don't look as good as when you play it on an original DS. If you ever played a SNES on an HDTV, you'll probably understand what I want to say, the image isn't as clear as when you play it on an old TV. Of course, you can press both start and select while the game loads to play with the original resolution, but then the screen just get so small that it's hard to see. It's my opinion anyway, maybe you don't care about that kind of thing but I thought I'd let you know! Although the emulation of GBA games on the DS Lite is just perfect, but you have the same kind of problem if you use the GameBoy Player to play them on a Gamecube. So my advice would be: you should start with a DS Lite, as it plays GBA games well, and you'll be able to enjoy DS games in their original splendor! Hope it helps!

If you like old-school (NES era actually), you should probably check Retro Game Challenge for the Nintendo DS. There are a few NES-inspired games, including a Dragon Warrior-inspired RPG.
They have already been cited, but both the Mario & Luigi and Golden Sun series are great RPGs that are colorful and don't take themselves too seriously, that have entries on both the GBA and DS (Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story is one of my favorite titles overall for the DS).
And I agree with Bytor: Magical Starsign and Avalon Code are also great titles, again colouful and not too serious (especially Magical Starsign actually).
Also, as you stated you liked Suikoden, you should probably take a look a Tierkreis on DS... I know it's a bit controversial among fans of the series, but I personally enjoyed it.

It's hard for me to escape smoke-smell myself, my dad is worse than a goddamn chimney in Winter. So I'm happy I got no complaints, sorry if there was a scent. Esentially only a few zones of my house are smoke-free...my room and my study. =/
There was a minor smell, but it wasn't big enough for me to complain about. It will fade with time. Same, it was too small to really be disturbing. Plus, the books are so awesome that it only took a few seconds to stop thinking about it :P But yeah, seriously, it was barely noticeable.

I started playing it this afternoon. I'm not far but it seems fun! I never played the original and heard it was great so I decided to give it a try, as I don't have anything else to play on my 3DS right now (just finished Revelations...). It seems to be some old-school fun like I've wanted for a while! :)

Bought a few games from Klyde Chroma, they actually had a really strong cigarette smell, and I wasn't warned about it beforehand (nor that one of the games cases was broken and didn't hold anymore, and that another one's cover was damaged by water, which wouldn't have really been a problem if it wasn't for the first one). When I raised the problem, I was told the only possible thing he could do is paying for an air freshener. I asked for a return, and I didn't receive any answer for about a week, while he has been regulardly connected since then, so it can't be because he didn't see it. So, I wanted this to end in a good way, but seeing how I'm going to be stuck with stinking games I won't ever play with because of their smell, I thought I had to share my experience here, as I'm obviously angry. It's a shame, too, as I bought stuff from numerous members here and I never had any problem... I saw he added a note on his post after I told him (which means he definitely thought it was worth saying). I'm actually going to sell them back to someone who don't care about it, but it's still a loss of time and money.

1. Illusion of Gaia I just discovered this game recently, and I liked it a lot. I'd like a remake so more people would enjoy it, plus I wouldn't mind a graphical overhaul "à la" FFIVComplete!
2. The Legend of Zelda : Majora's Mask I'd be surprised if they didn't remake this one for the 3DS eventually.
3. Phantasmagoria I still think this game is awesome, but the puzzles are few and easy, and they could have done much more with the storyline. I guess if we could remake this game with today's technology, adding lenght and interesting puzzles, new locations, as well as a longer storyline (maybe we could gain access to Carno's storyline when we complete Adrienne's? Anyway, I feel this is a great game that still as MUCH potentiel, graphically as well as gameplay-wise.
4. FPS I remember a time where FPS were deeper, with games like No One Lives Forever and the Jedi Knight series bringing new mechanics while remaining quick and fun. Now it seems we have to choose. It's either mindless shooting or deep mechanics but a slow pace. Starting over would be a great time to find a middle formula again.

GameFly is a rental service for games not unlike Netflix. They're 100% legit and actually quite good. They're starting to go into the digital distribution world, and apparently now own D2D. You probably won't see much of a change. In fact, you'll probably have an increase in service level.
OK, easy peasy: They'll make your account a GameFly account. If you already have one, like mine, they'll merge them.
All right, thanks a lot for the info, I really appreciate! :) I guess this might be a good thing after all, as I was suspicious at first!

I just bought a few things from Dice. Prices were more than reasonable, shipping was super fast, the items were all in awesome condition and she was really easy to communicate with, sending answers to my questions fast. It was really a pleasure doing business with her and there was no stress involved in this transaction. So if you intend to buy some stuff from her, I can guarantee you'll be glad you did! ^^

I just received an e-mail telling me that Direct2Drive is moving on Gamefly, although it's not really clear what will happen and I don't really know what Gamefly actually is... Would anybody have more info on any of those (the transfer and/or what Gamefly is)? I guess (hope) I'm not the only one who have a few games on that site, so I'd be curious to know if anybody understood that thing better thant I did. Thanks!

THere's a used copy of 999 at work ($35 x_X ).... wondering if I should splurge. :D
I love the title for this game, but I thought the anime opening was worthless.
Well, you just have to look at my avatar to know how much I can recommend this game! Seriously, this is probably one of the best 2-3 games I ever played. I hope the sequel will be as good as the original! I'm not convinced by those 3D sequences yet, even though I guess I'll get used to them when I'll actually play it... IF it comes here, that is, but I'm pretty confident in that...

Wow. Best Buy Canada must be way better, or I got lucky. My 360 took all of one day to come, then again it only really had to get across town.
I don't normally order online though, I live near so many stores...
Well, actually I forgot to specify, but it WAS Best Buy Canada :P Now I just wonder if it's me that was really out of luck on those orders or if it was you that was lucky that it ended well! :P
