I did some purchases online through BestBuy recently... My Skyward Sword was shipped in an envelope so it was torned and smashed, I called twice and they told me it wasn't their problem twice. I wanted to make a complaint but they refused. I had pre-ordered Dr. Lautrec and it never arrived, I called, they told me it was an error and they're sorry but they won't ever receive it. The guy was good-intentionned and he wrote down my complaint, I told him I hoped Diablo III CE would ship without other problems. Suddenly, one hour later, they cancelled it without any explanation. I'm seriously pissed! Seriously, that's the worst service I ever had, so if you were looking to buy on the BestBuy website, please don't! Sorry, but I just had to share it somewhere, hope this was the right place! :P Just wanted to eventually prevent somebody else to have to go through that...

Well, I must admit I'm tired of zombies, too, but seriously, this looks great. Though the main reason why I usually hate most zombie things is that they lack any depth. Games like Left 4 Dead and Dead Rising are just plain dumb zombie-killing games, and I find them really boring. But Naughty Dog could beat the others by actually bringing something with interesting characters, good design, immersive world and all to the table. A bit like The Walking Dead was actually interesting for the same reasons compared to other zombie movies/series. Seriously, I'm a zombie-hater, too, but this one looks awesome, and I'm actually glad it's not Uncharted 4, I like it when my favorite studios try other things between two things, a bit like Nolan did between the Batman movies. The Prestige and Inception were still high-quality entertainment, and it didn't mean completely stopping the other series.

Well, there's Tales of Graces F coming out in March too! With FFXIII-2 in January, Tales in March and Xenoblade in April, my console JRPGs need will be satisfied for a while! And there's Atelier Meruru around the corner, too. In fact, I think 2012 is gonna be a good year for us!

One critical note to make here - the game is currently slated to come to the United States only.

What. The. Fuck.

What the tit?  That's racist to the red maple nation above!!! D:<

Import ...*sigh* from the States it is. =/
That's dickish if it's true...

Apparently we shoul be able to pre-order it directly from Nintendo here: http://store.nintendo.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Xenoblade?storeId=10001 . They are supposed to ship to Canada too! I also pre-ordered it from the US Gamestop website just to be sure!

You can't get Amazon.com to ship games to Canada. It's impossible.

Yes, you can! I ordered some Wii games once and the Dark Souls guide without any problem. It only works when you buy directly from amazon.com, though. And it would work for MGSCEHD, too. Actually, I just ordered it by mistake to verify :P You just have to pay shipping plus the import fees in advance.

Does anyone know where we can pre-order the MGS HD CE in Canada? I've been looking for around a month and I can't find it anywhere... It's not on gamestop.ca, nor amazon.ca, nor bestbuy.ca ... I really don't know where to look... So if you're aware of somewhere, I'd apperciate if you could let me know! :)

I can't find it online anywhere

Well then, I guess they maybe chose to not release it over here... And as kyuusei, I'm wondering if I'm going to buy it from amazon.com, though it would cost around 100$US... I'm not sure I'm ready to pay twice the price for an artbook :P Guess I'll stick with the regular version...

I've started Solatorobo today, so far the universe and characters are fun, even though the combat system is a bit silly. I guess I'll be finishing this one, I usually enjoy these kinds of easy but entertaining adventures!
I've also finished Batman: Arkham City yesterday, and I'm really thinking it's one of the best games I've ever played in my life. Everything in this game was perfect: the hubworld was the perfect size, combat was varied enough without being complicated, "dungeons" were fun, there is a lot of puzzles to do, and every side-quest was carefully designed. Story was entertaining, it had surprising plot twists, voice-acting was great, and I'll stop there... It's really a near-perfect game in my opinion anyway.

Definitely looks fun, just waiting for a PSN release... Damn you Microsoft and your "temporary exclusivities"...

Sorry if I was a bit snappy there then. It seemed improbable even if it were earlier though given this is the 25th Anniversary for both sales, even if development was shorter back then they would've likely had too little time to really take inspiration from one another.

Here's the actual quote:

From Replay: The History of Video Games by Tristan Donovan, p.162:

"But not everyone in the Japanese game business was impressed by the creations of Horii and Sakaguchi. Nintendo, despite its involvement with Mother, was particularly lukewarm to the genre. Yamauchi described role-playing games as being for "depressed gamers" who sit in dark rooms, while Miyamoto professed to a "fundamental dislike" of their emphasis on pre-defined stories and level-based advancement. Not that this stopped Miyamoto from raiding the genre for inspiration. His 1986 game The Legend of Zelda adapted many of the conventions of role-playing into an action game format. The concept of character development, for example, was reinvented as extra abilities or weapons that players obtained as they progressed through the game."

This paragraph is after one that explains how Horii wanted to make a Japanese, simpler alternative to games such as Ultima and Wizardry (both of which are discussed about earlier in the book) and followed by the story of the craze around Dragon Warrior III in Japan. Because the paragraph started by opposing Miyamoto to what Horii and Sakaguchi made, that's why I made this mistake.
By the way, this book is wonderful, I highly recommend it to anyone who is interested in the history of video games. It's way more complete than Kent's Ultimate History of Video Games, and it covers much more too, as it was published later...

Actually, first you had Dungeons and Dragons, then you had Ultima in the US (as well as Wizardry), then Dragon Quest simplified Ultima's formula, and then Zelda took inspiration from some of DQ's elements and simplified the formula, again. So Zelda is pretty much a simplification of a simplification of an adaptation. Not much RPG left there! :P

Zelda came first, not Dragon Quest. At least look at the dates before making stuff up.

EDIT: With that said I can't seem to easily find something to confirm any Ultima link or anything. For now I'm just going to assume most RPG overlap is more incidental than anything else.

Well I'm writing a paper on DQ right now, and I read that in a book during my research (Replay by Tristan Donovan), maybe I misread too... I'll double-check and I'll edit this post with his citation. Didn't want to make up stuff or anything, just wanted to share the results of my research, sorry if I messed up!

Does somebody know if it's compatible with original PS2 saves that's transferred on the PS3?
