Well, I can't blame them. Compensation orbs are the best orbs.

I sacrificed two stamina potions (only have 189 left. oh no.) to get more orbs so I could do another pull.

3* Nino - Draw back is nice.
4* Sheena - Oh, nice! I was waiting for her (or Gwendolyn) to show up. The Black Knight needs skills.
4* Frederick - Decent skill fodder.

Edit: Oh, new Sheena is -spd, +def. I wonder if I should let her replace my current one (-spd, + atk). She can't really hurt anything without Bonfire/Ignis anyway, so I might as well have the extra def, I think?

Damnit, Takumi. I said I'd go through colourless hell for you, but you're competing against a unit I have absolutely no interest in, not to mention a whole different banner filled with awesome but exclusive characters.

... But I'll see what I can do in just one round.

Okay, two colourless. The first one is...
3* Felicia - Of course...
4* Sakura - Wrong Hoshido sibling...

Well, that was a disappointment, as usual.

Edit: time to grab the Arena orbs. That brings the total to 22.Time to summon.

Three red?! Not fair...

The green orb is... a 4* Gunter. Again?! Well, I guess I could train one to be part of a horse emblem team...
The colourless orb is... Serra. Yuck.

Colourless hell aside, that's one dream pull.

I got a bunch of colourless crap yesterday that's not even worth mentioning.

The rumor is that we're getting a Genealogy banner with Sigurd later this month. Given my luck these last few weeks I'm guessing I'm getting prepped for getting tons of Firs when that hits.

I'm sticking to the performer banner. I really need more dancers and new regular banners are usually hit and miss. Plus, the best new(ish) characters are eventually put on Hero Fest banners, so I might as well wait for that.

Last night I had this weird Ys VIII dream in which Adol wanted to move an airplane that was in the way, but there weren't enough villagers. Good to know our own Dogi had no trouble :)

200 Orbs gone and no new dancers/singers. :( I got Takumi and Elise as random 5-stars. @Tomara If I could give him to you I would...

Aw, thanks :)

Maybe I'll catch one of my own.

4* Merric - My very first Merric! Useless aside from slightly increasing my catalogue completion percentage, which means Merric is all I will be getting from green for a while.
4* Roderick - Another? But I'm still not sure which character should recieve that lance...
4* Efie - Stat check... And it's one of the worst. -def, +res.
3* Shanna - I already had plenty in stock, so I'll guess I'll just feed this one to the first character that might want it. +spd Athena, you're getting a new skill!
4* Mae - Not sure what to do with this one. +spd, - def is like perfectly min-maxed, but I have a fully build-up 5* +spd, - res one. I guess I could just save her for a time I have nothing better to do with the my feathers and create the perfect Mae...
4* Oboro - I'm building a 4* L40+10 Oboro, so this is fine.
4* Lucius - Eh... I guess I could give one of my characters Miracle for shits, giggles and 'suprise, I'm not dead yet!' defence team strategies.
4* Merric - ... Shit. No, wait. Merde.

A Dutch person with two credits cards is either filthy rich or highly irresponsible.
Well I have three (plus a debit card). One is from my bank, one is from Amazon (for rewards), and one is from Best Buy (for interest free electronics purchases for 18 months). I think all three are justified. Although I will not deny being relatively rich or highly irresponsible. XP

Ah, yeah, that's another thing over here. Stores don't offer credit cards. Some people do collect Air Miles on a seperate card and there are various stores that allow you to collect points and get discounts with their cards, but these are all cards that can't be used for payments (that are not in points).

(As for emergencies, most people have some cash on them in case their card fails, but nowadays you can also do things like use your smart phone for small payments.)

I tried this bow last year, and it was too heavy for me back then, but now I can use it pretty easily.
Cool and congrats. What's the poundage on your new bow? My recurve has a 22 poundage/pullback.

28, which is actually lighter than the bow I shot with before I took a long, long break. I used a 32 one as a teen. Dunno if I want to build up to that again, though. I don't have any aspirations beyond the occassional friendly guild competition.

That is all sorts of weird to me. I have used two different credit cards today. Mind you I basically use them as debit cards as I pay off the balance on them twice a month so I have almost never accrued interest, but I get the bonus of whatever rewards the card offers. Huray for gaming the system to make the credit card companies lose! :p

A Dutch person with two credits cards is either filthy rich or highly irresponsible. We could technically get cards from credit card companies, but a credit card from your own bank is much more convenient. It's cheaper to use but there are no bonuses. Plus, the bank requires you to have a minimum monhtly income (1000 in the case of my bank, but they make an exception for students) and a BKR-check (BKR = Bureau Krediet Registratie, you can probably figure out what that means) is done. Since a regular debit card is all you need in daily Dutch life, most Dutch people don't bother getting one.

Actually, when we're young, we're sort of scared out of getting a credit card by teachers, parents etc. The USA is always used as a example of how credit card use can go horribly wrong. That's the main reason it took so long for me to get one despite it making some things in life much easier. Credit is kinda scary.

And how does one get their banks to behave in such a civilized manner, exactly?

Regulations and idealism. The bank I use was originally a farmers' bank and founded for the purpose of improving the community. Not that our banks are perfect. Some invest in shady things and you don't know until until it's all over the news. But generally, I'd say we're pretty well off when it comes to banks.

Man, the amount of free money my wife and I get from credit cards is pretty crazy.  It's funny to think of a time when I didn't use them.  Of course, it's weird to buy into a moneymaking scheme that relies on people NOT paying on time and getting penalized.

The banks over here are kinder than in the US, I think. For instance, overdraft fees are not a thing over here. If you do stumble into the red, you pay interest based on the amount and time you were in the negative. At my bank, that interest is 12%, on par with credit cards, but you know, no fees to make it worse. And any money I spend using my credit card is just taken out of my regular account at the end of the month (at no interest), meaning I will pay the regular 'you screwed up' interest if I screw up. (And just so we're clear, the last time I paid any interest was nearly a decade ago and it was a grand total of 0,12.) There are also no fees for any of common banking things. I just pay 2,60 a month to make use of the services (which covers the checking account, savings account, a debit and credit cards, and some handy budgetting tools to help you stay away from the red zone).

But the interest on my savings account is really low right now and there are no such things as rewards for people who use their money responsibly.

Go for it, D!

My sports haps: got a new bow! Well, it's not actually new and technically also not mine, but another archer had his old recurve (which is actually a really good one and suitable for serious competitions) sitting in storage not really doing anything with it. I tried this bow last year, and it was too heavy for me back then, but now I can use it pretty easily. Really feels like a reached a milestone. Biggest bump in the road now are my own insecurities. (Using someone else's stuff makes me nervous, especially when it's relatively expensive to what I'm used to, plus, I dunno, I sorta want to prove I'm worthy of using it?) A smaller bump is that the grip was obviously designed for someone with adult-sized manly hands, meaning my cute child-like hand will cramp up if I'm not careful, but that's a matter of investing in a new grip if I get serious about this bow.

Other haps: used a credit card for the first time today. That probably sounds really weird to some of you, but credit cards are a rare thing in the Netherlands. Debit cards are the norm over here and not paying directly from my bank account feels really weird. Also a bit unsafe, actually. When buying online with my regular card (using iDEAL), there's a lot more security in place to protect me. On the other hand, a credit card offers more insurance, so atleast there's that. Plus, I set the limit for my card really low, because I plan on using it mostly for buying things not (easily) available in Dutch (web) stores, like graphic novels published by Fantagraphics (I have no idea what's wrong with their distributor!).

After having seen the new special banner units, I regret trying to get a Ninian. That new Azura is insane! (Hey, Linde, how do you feel about getting a girlfriend?) A Tome dancer would be good to have as well. And since two units are green, and there are still a bunch of green units I really want, this could work our really well for me.

Actually, my luck with these special banners has been pretty good. I mean, look at the last one: I got both an Ike and a Lucina. Good ones too. It's all the other banners I fail at.

Well, you could always ask for an early birthday present the next time we see Ninian/Takumi on a banner...does it count as whaling if it's not your money?

That's really sweet, but I'd feel bad for accepting a present like that :)

I think all of them are infantry actually, but flying Bards are probably inevitable for whenever they get around to adding a Heron. I don't think they'll make Arena Assault any worse than it already is, since whales probably already have at least one dancer fully merged up (pretty easy to do with Olivia), and having two dancers on a defense team isn't all that optimal. Azura also already fills the role of a dancer that fights well, though the tome dancers will probably be a lot more annoying for anyone who doesn't have a bunch of Distant Counter fodder just sitting around waiting to be used.

Yeah, you only need one dancer to make Reinhardt and Lyn gallop circles around an attacking team. The main draw of this banner is getting a larger variety, making it easier to design a balanced team.

My last chance to get a Ninian (until she pops up in another banner next week or so) and all pieces are in place.

I've grabbed all the orbs I could reasonably get today.
Pity rate is sitting at 3,5%.
Titania is dating Eliwood to make Ninian jealous and lure her out.
It's my birthday.

Round 1: No blues. I'll grab the colourless to limit the chance of a shitty pity rate break. And... it's a perfectly average 4* Setsuna.

Round 2: Again no blues. Might as well YOLO and go for one of the many green ones. Maybe I'll get a Soren. Nope. It's a 3* Gunter.

Round 3: And now I get three blues?! I only have eight orbs left! ... 4* Robin (And just that moment, my sister texted me: "Congratulations!")

Well, birthday ruined. Thanks Intelligent Systems.

You are a horrible person. Fielding those two sword users together makes little strategic sense and is a waste. You pair the Black Knight with green Ike, duh.

You're right. And sadly that means I can't S rank Eirika together with Seth. I guess I'm going to have to settle for S-ranking her with Valter instead.

Ephraim would work as well. All you need is two units who aren't too similar to make most of a support.

Plus, he's not ruining the meta, he IS the meta.

Nope, the current meta is Lyn on a pony.

Banner Edit: Scrounged up enough Orbs to try again, and well, the bad news is that I still don't have a 40% unit yet, nor will I have one for the foreseeable future. The good news is that I did manage to come up with a replacement Titania, and the better yet news is that I actually landed a new unit from that mess, and his name is Reinhardt (4 star which I'm ambivalent towards, especially since he's +HP/-Spd, and I already have a 5 star Blarblade Ursula).

Reinhardt is good to have no matter his stats. He's not really competing with Ursula because his tome lets him function outside of a horse emblem team. Function very well. Too well. Now you too can ruin the meta! :D

My FEH news: Titania is now in a relationship with Eliwood. It makes a lot of sense from a strategic perspective, but I also hope this will lure out a Ninian. Like, hey, Ninian, have you seen Roy's new mom? Look at that red hair. It's pretty obvious now who is the canon wife, isn't it?
