I already gave her some skills she'll like, but she'll have to wait for a promotion until I'm done with Takumi. Which could take a while, because I'm not entirely sure yet...

Right now I'm thinking about:

Brave Bow+
Reposition/Draw Back

Threaten Speed

Seal: Spd+3

With summoner support, that'll make his stats:
HP: 42
Atk: 44
Spd: 39
Def: 30
Res: 23

Normally something like Life or Death 3 or Deathblow 3 would be preferable, but since his speed is really good, he'll be able to quad a lot of units with this set-up without becoming overly fragile. Plus, I need something to make most of Desperation. Summoner support pushes his HP above 40, meaning Ardent Sacrifice won't be enough. Using Fury to bring down his HP is fairly efficient.

Shanna's brute force win was impressive. I was sure that if she'd need a multiplier, but it seems like her mercs overestimated the number of multipliers and had to dump theirs in the final hours. In any case, it's nice to see a C-list, nowhere near a C-cup, available as 3*, no-name girl from a game only available in Japan is able to win against one of the more popular characters from a bestselling game.

So... who else is planning a 5* Shanna build to honor her victory?

At least Tomara got her top two FE husbandos in one go, so this wasn't a complete loss (even if I'm sabotaging one of them by sitting on 1800 Flags).

1. Don't be mean to my favourite pineapple :(
2. The silly and stupidly sentimental reason I wanted a Soren so badly is because he reminds me of my pet rabbit that died in May this year. I mean, sure, he's one of my favourites from the Tellius games, but the similarities made him more memorable.

Now, now. My most fantastic and amazing pull ever shouldn't be that much of a surprise considering the odds Takumi and Soren are friends now according to fanon. They just wanted to hang out.

Leo wanted to join too, but I was out of orbs. Oh well. It's his own fault for not showing up when he had the chance.

It was a 7.5 modifier in summon form. If Soren's IVs weren't a little on the blah side, it'd be too perfect. (But I figure I'll get another Soren soon now that the game has finally decided I'm allowed to have Sorens. Then I'll just have a 5* L40+1.)

You can quit the game now.

Can't. I need to make both of them awesome now.

Edit: Promoted a Cecilia to 5*, leveled her up to L40 to get the conversation, then gave her tome to Soren. No regrets.

Guys, guys! Look! Finally! On the last day using my final orbs! And they came with skill fodder!

Soren managed to be a 4* despite the close to 5,25% odds of him being a 5*. But that's fine. He's going to need all the SP he can get. And hey, it's not as if I'm not swimming in feathers.

Oh, and Takumi is +spd, -hp, in case you were wondering.

Yeah, you've got to love the storylines these match-up created. First we got two underdogs winning their first rounds, resulting in genki girl vs genki girl and grumpy guy vs grumpy guy. Now we have two younger siblings going up against eachother. Shanna is creating one hell of an underdog tale while Takumi is trying to prove his worth by avenging his older siblings. The match-ups haven't been this good since Chrom vs Ephraim.

Also lucked into Cecilia on my last Infantry Tower run so RIP ReBHeB and second Nov Tenth Stratum quests.

I used Lunatic Chain Challenge to complete those defeat x with y quests in one go while leveling up my new Leon.

Ah, so close... I'm honestly a little disappointed Soren lost. Especially since it looked like Takumi's final multiplier wasn't going to happen for hours. Oh well, can't stop those who chose feathers over victory, I guess. I'm switching over to Team Takumi and I'd like to see him win, but it'd be hilarious if Shanna, Destroyer of Hoshido, took home the throphy.

I think you're the one not getting it.

The Voting Gauntlet was meant as a popularity contest, but long-running ones are not fun when your favourite has absolutely no chance of winning. No one will be engaged if it's obvious from hour one who's going to win. In order to make a mode like that engaging, you need to give the underdogs a chance.

I'm not happy with these hair trigger bonus rounds either and I do wish IntSys gives this mode a huge overhaul or replaces it entirely with a competition that's feels fairer and more fun for all sides. That's why I wouldn't mind seeing two underdogs in the finale. It may create strong enough of a reaction to make IntSys rethink things.

Right now though, I am having fun. The mode itself is pretty tedious, sure, but the online activity surrounding it is at its best. Fanart, comics, memes. I'm not entirely sure I needed to see Soren cooking lobster while only wearing an apron, but it's pretty obvious people are having fun with both his and Shanna's victory.

Also, remember what I said earlier this week?

Okay. Soren doesn't stand a chance. Well, if predictions are correct and we all hit the brakes and prevent Ryoma from getting a final hour bonus, we could win by a small margin, but that would require a level of coordination I don't think Fire Emblem Heroes are capable of or even interested in.

I, and I'm sure many others, are well aware that the player base is simply too large to pull off any real strategy. The best we can do is play smartly within our own limitations. However, there was one condition for Soren's victory and that was Ryoma not getting and multipliers in the final hours. Whether is was through coindidence or coordination, the team as a whole paced itself correctly and exactly that scenario (hah!) happened. It's fun to pretend it was thanks to strategy.

And honestly, looking at what units I get send my way, they do seem to be putting a little more thought into this than the teams I was on last time.

It's not the Voting Gauntlet that's fun. It's the fans getting invested that make it fun. (And that includes the ones making spreadsheets. I just like looking at numbers, okay?)

Wouldn't the horror tropes mean that that was the end of the movie, so all of you continue to live and the evil goes and hunts a new group of people (until you all make cameos in movie 3 where you are then killed)?

I like to think my brain isn't the type of director that'd milk IPs until the audience is begging them to put it out of its misery. It may do a sort of reboot eventually, though, because I sure am looking forward to waking up at 4 AM again and being too freaked out to go back to sleep.

Next one will probably be zombies again, but those zombies will be slightly different from the usual ones. Or maybe the setting will be original, like the Netherlands of the Golden Age or maybe Sovjet Russia. The one I had about the mainland being taken over by zombies and the survivors all  living on ships, islands and floating villages in the middle of lakes was pretty cool. Aside from waking up in the middle of the night and getting through the day on four hours of sleep part I mean.

What is it about being on the phone that makes people completely forget about how loud they are being in relation to their surrounding?  Or maybe it has nothing to do with their surrounding and they are just always shouting into the phone??

Do you guys all shout into your phone every time you get a call?

Very perplexing.

Only good reason I can think of is that the connection is shit, but if that's the case, why not find another spot (like, outside) or end to call and switch to messages? Some people are just naturally loud, though.

Anyway, my haps: helping out at the guild. We have this friendly competition thing for the non-archers from the surrounding area, and I'm one of the people who helps out at the 'line'. Basically an instructor. For some reason, the most frequently asked question was: "Do you shoot too?"

No, I wear this shirt with our logo for funsies and this is all an act. Those pointers I gave you that helped you nearly double your score? Yeah, that was just me bullshitting.

Okay, I'm certain some people just don't know how to start a conversation about/show interest in someone's hobby, but something like "Do you use this kind of bow too?" should be an attainable level of social competence for just about anyone.

Oh well, atleast there was no "Do you have school tomorrow?" or uncertain looks at my alcoholic drink. This is progress.

(But it was still a lot of fun! Just really, really busy. But that's good. Events like this make up a significant part of our income.)

Up until the second half of the final day, the predictor shifts constantly and merely shows a number of possible outcomes. Just an hour ago, Soren winning was such an outcome. His odds are about the same as they were in his match against Ryoma, so there's certainly a chance for him to make it to the finals. (And defeat the very concept of the Voting Gauntlet together with Miss Dispair Desperation. Normally I wouldn't approve of sacrificing the Hoshidan siblings for an imaginary gambit, but this is the first time I actually had real fun with a Voting Gauntlet. Fun that goes beyond 'yay, I have more orbs and feathers now.')

BTW you don't want to spend too many flags on the final multipliers, because it's all over if your opponent gets that one rare multiplier in the final hours of the competition.

Edit: Guess what I got from my favourite banner?!

... It's a 4* Leon! ... I guess that if you were to somehow merge the units I actually want and added a more likable personality, you'd get something like Leon. Thanks FEH...

Hah, look at that! Team Soren won! Don't underestimate the power of mercs and the people who ship them!

(No, seriously, have you seen some of the highest ranking units? Lots of 'Ikesgay', 'Ike's Boyfriend' and the like.)

Looking at how the score shot up in the final half of the second day, our victory wasn't sheer luck. Yeah, we couldn't have won without the multiplier, but people actually saved up and used strategy to make a difference. It's so very, very fitting.

I doubt we'll be able to beat Takumi the same way, but if we could...

Edit: before someone complains about multiplier wins being not cool: we have a plan. Soren takes down Takumi, Shanna defeats Amelia, and the finals will be between two less popular units. Soren wins. IS sees the gauntlet is bullshit and retires the whole mode. Everyone wins.

Hey, we're not getting destroyed. Depending on how the final multipliers play out, team Soren might actually win this round. Worst case, I walk away with a decent ranking and start supporting my other favourite. Best case, I get 500 feathers and enjoy the bonus train for another round. Either way, I win.

Soren still hasn't threatened Ryoma with a multiplier yet).

According to this (usually very reliable) prediction, Soren might actually win this round. Granted, we just started and it may all change during the second day, but it would be amazing to see him win.

(He'll likely lose to Takumi afterwards, but whatever.)

I really hoped it would be a closer match. Soren is a much more easily available character (unless you're me), with a bit of skill inheritance he's like a Nino that can tank Reinhardts more easily, Ike/Soren was in the top twenty FEH character supports...

On the upside, the people in team Soren I've met had enough common sense to not make Soren their lead unit and send something useful like an Ike, Bridelia or dancer instead. That's a first. (Right, team 'let's send three Ninians up against that Julia, Lucina and Bridelia'?)

I have noticed that the game does occasionally favor successive unit pullings from the same draw (though they don't typically have the same Traits).

They were both +spd, -def. I do not feel like calculating those odds.

General Games / Re: Fire Emblem Heroes

They were both 4*, fortunately. However, I already had several in storage for fodder reasons. I ended up merging them with my main Sheena.

I just calculated it, and the odds of pulling a 4* or 5* Soren from a green orb are a little over 6,5% at the moment. Meanwhile, the odds of getting just one Sheena are something like 3,25%. Two getting of them in a row... 0,1%? Yeah...

Maybe I should pair Ike up with, I dunno, Tharja, and lure in Soren that way. I worked for Ninian.
