If you don't use it, you lose it. That goes for about anything but knowing how to ride a bicycle. And well, if you don't really learn in the first place... Yeah, I think there may be more people like that. On the other hand, social awkward people can now make friends more easily thanks to the internet. On the other other hand, end up in the wrong echochamber and you could end up with some very weird ideas.

I don't drive, but I do use public transportation often and the drivers in this area are definitely a bit too comfortable on the road when they only have to share it with a few people. One of my friends from the city came here late in the evening once for a sleepover and was certain the busride here was going to be her last.

Speaking of public transportation, I have a big trip ahead of me because I apparently have to justify myself before the grand council of anime geeks for going against one of them and fighting for volunteer's rights for fair compensation. It's a two hour trip there and the one back may be even longer, because one slight delay means getting stuck at a station for ~55 minutes.

That sad, the whole things is hilarious, because there are so many misconcentions about me on their end. Some of them picture me as a blunt teenager (I'm a blunt adult, thank you very much!), others assume my "twin sister" is me (but my own mother made the same mistake, so I shouldn't be too harsh), and it seems many don't know what I actually do because I don't paste my face on everything. On the up side, the fact that I'm relatively unknown means that they're not aware of who my allies are, meaning they accidently decided on a meeting spot that's not as neutral as they think it is. Soon, they will learn not to underestimate the connections of the most powerful knitting club! (I mean seriously, most of our members are upper echelon geeks - we we can work with more than just literal strings if we want to.)

Nerd politics are entertaining, if nothing else.

(Though I could be in serious trouble despite having good back-up.)

My Elise with Savage Blow 6 was the MVP there. She carefully chipped away at their HP while the dancers and Reinhardt kept her save. Once the enemy was softened up enough, Reinhardt, also supported by the dancers, went in for the kill.

Oh, and I got a male Morgan. He's going to be part of Team buffbot Eirika.

I just realised it took FE Heroes longer to 'make' a Finn than it did my sister. My nephew was born in early November.

Thought that +8 Reinhardt that joined me earlier today was yours. Good to know I was right.

I set Alm (with Falchion upgrade) as my lead. It seemed like the appropriate thing to do. Not to mention that he can smash through nearly anything when he's at full health. I hope people have fun using him.

The guild's barbeque was ruined... The food was ordered a week in advance, there was even a reminder send on the morning of. Then evening came. 19:30 - nothing, 20:00 - nothing, 20:30 - still nothing. One very concerned call later and we get a "Wait, that was today?"

Sure, most people don't go out in -5 degrees celsius weather to barbeque, but it's tradition. It's fun to huddle around the grill and food somehow tastes better if you had to prepare it in the freezing cold.

Indonesian-Chinese take-out was ordered around 21:00 and a little before 22:00 we finally had food. Well, I had rice and some greasy veggies that didn't really agree with me, but atleast many of the others liked this restaurant's food. I can't help but be disappointed though. I was really looking forward to the salads and these supposedly great veggie wraps even the non-vegeratians who had gotten catering from the butcher before were looking forward to.

Teach me how to use a bow

In Zelda or IRL?

It is, it's fairly old, but it's always been well taken care off and it mostly sat in storage the past decade. One of our best archers actually has a very similar bow (same riser and limbs, but different sight and so on) in a darker silver.

In case anyone's wondering, this is my bow and it's mine:

It really feels like I've come a long way. A year ago, when I tried it for the first time, it was actually a bit too heavy and people thought it bad idea. But I trained, building up to it, and I can hold it drawn and steady for 6+ seconds now. And it feels like I gained the approval of the former owner. He went from 'you can't do this' to 'you can do better' whenever a shot isn't all that great. I even sort of 'won' yesterday. We were shooting Christmas ornaments again, and when you hit them just right/wrong, they fall to the floor and bounce away. That happened to his, so he aimed at my target instead. Our arrows hit at the exact same moment, and it looked like they both pierced the bauble, but upon closer inspection his was half a centimeter off and mine hit true.

Okay, it wasn't actually a competition, but my arrow hit and his didn't, so I want to believe that's a win for me.

300 orbs, I got:
1x Shiro (+atk, - hp)
2x Dorcas (one of them +def, -spd)
2x Jaffar (don't care)

I should have stopped after those first two rounds that gave me an excellent Dorcas, that Shiro and a 4* +atk Reinhardt. It only went downhill from there.

Oh well, lesson learned, I guess. I hope New Year Takumi's fortune still holds true when I'm not greedy.

I'm really hoping Soren's new tome will grant some sort of Brave effect to mimic his Adept skill. It's what he deserves. However... I can't be the only one who thinks the name of the tome is rather mean, right? Wind's Brand? Seriously?

mediocre luck

Sorry to hear that. I'd lent you my NY Takumi, but he's busy getting me more 5 stars. I just threw 20 orbs at the VG banner and got my first normal Celica. Thank you, Takumi!

(Please make Leo come home when he shows up on his weapon upgrade banner.)

Edit: HOLY SHIT. I was thinking: Hey, I have over 400 orbs. I'll try to stay above that as a Legendary Banner buffer. And you know what, there are three Love Abounds heroes I don't yet have. Heck, I'd be happy if I got an extra Soren or something from it.

I see one green orb, I pull. Hi +atk, -spd Hector who is just here to fight!

Another convention day. I was a sorta visitor for the first time in ages (only had one workshop in the afternoon), reason being that I was chaperoning one of my younger cousins (age 13). Apparently I'm now at that age where I serve as a mentor/makeshift parental figure for young female teenagers whose names start with an E.

This was her first real anime convention and her first time really cosplaying (her cosplay: Wendy from Gravity Falls). Fortunately, this was one of those small conventions where I knew nearly everyone that mattered. So first up was a visit to the best princess and her cosplay repair point, because I'm no hero when it comes to wigs, especially ones that are that long. Lea wasn't quite awake yet and sewed in the clasps upside down first. That's a very Lea thing to do and that's okay. Sadly, there was no bucket of tomatoes to snack on while waiting this time, but I did get cookies and juicy gossip information of strategic importance regarding the behind the scenes happenings of certain organisations.

Next up was a quick tour through the building and saying 'hi' to people in the dealerroom. Well, half of it was saying 'hi', the other half was a verbal lashing for someone representing an organisation that takes advantage of their volunteers. I'm not a fan of people who exploit good will. You can't just demand respect and not give any in return. This is why their organisation now consists of incompetent people who feel brilliant for reinventing the wheel and making it oval: all the good ones fled and rightfully so.

Then we were off to the manga library to say 'hi', get something to drink and develop a plan of action for the rest of the day. No tea, sadly, but the lemonade was nice. At one point I jumped in to save the library volunteers from having to listen to a bad idea by explaining the intricacies of international anime and manga licensing.

Anyway, the plan of action:
1. Eat taiyaki
2. Attend a writing workshop
3. Attend a lecture about planning (large) cosplay projects
4. Eat these amazing fries that has this slight hint of paprika and black pepper
5. I host my kumihimo workshop while she goes of on her own

It was a good enough plan, but I was always worried about her not having enough fun. She's bad at chosing and not very assertive, so at first I was basically pointing things out and giving her two, at most three options, and hoping they were good ones. It felt like a real victory when she went off on her own for an hour. I had chosen this convention specifically, because it would be very safe for her to do so. Our 'saying hi' tour was basically introducing her to people I know and trust, the ones she could turn to if I for some reason wasn't available. It wasn't until we were on her way back she said with a big smile on her face that she had a great day.

(You know what also helps having fun? Being the cute younger cousin of a person with connections. Suffice to say, she got plenty of free stuff and positive attention.)

Edit: just realised why that representative I talked to is a dipshit. That greenhorn lives in a world in which everyone in their late teens seems to want to be instagram famous and/or promote their youtube channel. He thinks that anyone and everyone wanting to give lectures or host workshops is doing it for their own gain, which is an incredibly shitty attitude to have towards well, everyone else. Japanese history guy has nothing to gain from talking about the Shinsengumi or the Sino-Japanese war. He doesn't have a Youtube channel to promote or anything like that, he's just a history buff who enjoys sharing his knowledge. I don't get anything from teaching people how to braid Japanese style. We have them make mobidai from cardboard and use leftover cotton yarn for material so we can offer the workshop for free and people can take everything they need with them afterwards. I don't sell the material or the finished product, it's just something fun to do we can offer for next to nothing (most conventions give me a dayticket as compensation). Oh well, time to contact representative's boss and tell him he's still working with people who have a rather twisted attitude towards their volunteers and guests.

Well, I've got my depressing Takumis and now I'm both sad and happy. Sad because, shit, that backstory, that confession, that everything. Happy, because I beat Infernal with Takumi backed up by two dancers and Klein. It was a really tough battle what with all those (ranged) reinforcements and all, so I'm pretty proud of myself.

Got one of them up to 5 stars, but I'm not entirely sure what do you with rest. Maybe I'll just build all three and bully GHB characters who are dumb enough to cluster together and not move.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to that free Ike. I feel bad for Soren that he'll have to end his support with Brave Ike, but two green units hooking up just isn't a very tactically sound decision. I'm sure him and strategically appropriate Ike will get along just fine. Now, I'll just need a not-green Soren for Brave Ike and everything will be perfect.

Possessed Takumi comes with Fury. Because he's angry.

Actually, no, angry may be the wrong word. I spoiled myself by reading the mined data, and he's mostly confused and sad and says 'The enemy!' only slightly more often than Brave Lyn.

The Fury 3 is not a joke though.

On that note, I really hate the concept of the Chill SPD skill. I guess they want to punish the speed-centric game a little bit, but it's stupid to have a debuff that just works on the best opposing unit with no thought needed into how it's used.

I took one look at my Celica and gave her Renewal.

I feel conflicted. Yes, we're now a step closer to Takumi emblem, but that isn't really Takumi. Okay, the Heroes version seem to have atleast something left of himself compared to the Fates version, but still... I'm going to feel bad if I use him too much.

Speaking of Takumi, holy shit, I've been lucky with my pulls ever since I got the New Year's version! A Saber for a free pull, three 5 star heroes from the Legendary banner for a little over 30 orbs including two with ideal boons, a Lovely Lyn within 50 orbs or so (and some good fodder to boot), and now, after pulling a total of seven characters from the Fallen Heroes banner:

1. Hardin
2. Hinata (4 stars, so perfect Fury fodder)
3. Nino (3 stars, but draw back is always nice)
4. Marth (MY FIRST! oh, and 4 stars)
5. Marth (also 4 stars, but this one is +atk!)
6. Lon'qu (4 stars, so Vantage 3 is ready to go)
7. Duma Celica

Having a Grima!Robin as well would be cool, but I'm not going to push the luck Takumi has given me. I'll save my 400+ orbs for something else.

There's a downside though: I'm running out of basic fodder. There isn't even a Swap left for Hardin!
