I'm in the very definitely final dungeon of Tales Of Graces F a few months after starting the game. I'd say overall, good game. A nice plot, fun cast (I actually liked all the party members this time). I also liked how the title/skill system works in this too. I think that, barring Lineage And Legacies, this may be the second shortest Tales game I've ever played, behind Symphonia's sequel. I think by the time I reached the Ghardia Shaft, I was about 30 hours in. As for what I didn't like, well, the game felt extremely linear most of the time, barring you from certain areas and kind of forcing you along to the next plot point. And the actual battle system. That CC meter is kryptonite. A single attack? Costs CC. Sidestepping and dodging? Costs CC. Running freely? That thing you could do since Abyss? Costs CC. And then you run out and all you can do is guard or walk feebly until it refills enough to do anything substantial. Blargh. Give me back my MP meter any day.

And you know what really, really irks me? I decided that for my NG+ run, I'd do it in different costumes. But all the good costumes are DLC and they're... $3.99 each? What are you smoking, Namco? I'd pay $3.99 for all the costumes together, at the very least, but for each one? Screw yourselves. (And yes, I know I'm late to the party complaining about this. :p)

Welp, time to finish up the final stuff, and finally move on to Xillia.

When I was a teen, I'd play Tales Of Symphonia, Legendia, Abyss, and Vesperia in almost 10 hour spurts, all day. Same with a lot of games back then, honestly. I can't imagine doing that today without burning out on an RPG super fast. I've been playing Graces over the past two months, and I've played maybe an hour or two every day or every other day, and I've really been enjoying playing it that way. I get headaches and general nauseousness if I play a game for over three hours straight now, it seems.

I wasn't feeling Xenoblade either.  It's when you get a bit higher you get thrown about 20 plot twists and the game gets interesting and only better.  It just sucks with a game so big you gotta work for it.  Now I'm totally hooked (see some of my massive posts at the Game Jurnal).

Last Story is a game I *reaaallly* wanted to like but it never took.  I feel like everything was right EXCEPT its ability to achieve that "hook".  The characters are cool yet somewhat "disconnected", the town is 'nice' yet bland, the gameplay is interesting but clunky and complicated.  I wanna give it another go...but...TIME.  NONE.

I've actually gone out of my way to avoid Xenoblade spoilers because I've heard about the large amount of plot twists. I really want to get to those. One massive, massive one was spoiled for me though, and that did ruin it for me a bit. Like I said though, I loved everything else. I think I spent hours just wandering the Bionis' Leg area (along with the first colony area). It's beautiful.

I don't think I felt anything was right about TLS, but I still get where your coming from. You have all these great credentials for the creators, all this hype, all the pre-release stuff looked great, it had a kickass special edition... and then I popped the disc in. You do the first area, fight that boss in the temple (where I learned almost instantly that there was a bit too much going on in the battle system for me to like it. I spent half the fight sitting in back first-person shooting the thing.) And then you get to the town and... it's boring. The town looks bland, the characters are bland, the story draaaaaaaags, and then you meet "obviously the princess" girl, she's cliche as hell... and that's where I stopped. I just couldn't take any more at that point.

Then I looked at my unopened copy of Solatorobo, and realized the only reason I was even buying XSeed games was to support the further release of Trails In The Sky games, which at the time seemed like it wasn't going to happen. I just decided not to buy any more by them unless I was genuinely interested. What a sad day that was. XD

While I did love Xenoblade at first, I played it like, once a month. I stopped right at the Colony 6 part with the mine entrance because I was a bit burnt out at that point. Love the battle system (even if I have no dea what I'm doing most of the time), love the sidequest system, love the big, sprawling environments, but at that point I just realized that I didn't really give a crap about Shulk or Reyn or any of what was going on. Still plan on getting back into it some day, but it'll probably be another month or so.

The Last Story though. After all the hype, I'm a bit sad I never warmed up to it. I played it for about five hours before I finally called it quits. Didn't like the battle system, couldn't care less for any of those characters. I couldn't remember who was who half the time, except for alcoholic girl. It's a bit funny, I started Xenoblade right after that and my immediate thought starting it up was "Oh god, everything looks the same and the voice cast sounds exactly the same! It's the same thing!" Thankfully it wasn't. :p

ALLEGEDLY: So is Go Shiina

That would be godly.

That trilogy will be the thing that finally makes me use Steam. My body is ready.

I'm holding out for the PS3 versions.

It'll really piss me off if we don't get them.

I was once like you. :p It's what I wanted too, honestly. But I'm not holding my breath.

Ugh, bump combat. I had started Chronicles after playing the DS game, and while Chronicles was indeed far more beautiful, the lack of an attack button just killed it for me.

Best Mario game I've played in years. I've always liked the idea of merging 2D and 3D Mario gameplay, but SM3DL left me cold. World feels like the developers had so much fun making it, and the character roster and several setpieces in the levels just seal the deal for me.

And the cat suit is pretty fun to use. Meow!

The only challenge in MC's boss battles was getting your little LinkBros to line up right on that Manta Ray thing, otherwise I don't see how any of the other bosses could be considered harder than LBW's. But we'll just have to agree to disagree. ^_^;

Most of the bosses were pretty obvious strategy-wise, and stocking up on fairies and having the tunic and sword upgrades made them a cakewalk, but I still think they hit me more. Moldorm's still a pain in the butt years later, the giant hand kept getting me because of the collapsing floors, and he and sword-an-shield guy gave me trouble because I kept forgetting that hiding in the wall was an option. XD

I do think it's an easy game, but definitely not the easiest Zelda game. Some of the bosses still killed me. I never died once in The Minish Cap, though. I'd say that one's the easiest LoZ.

Got this game three days ago. Already at the last dungeon. I've been playing it that much. I LOVE this game. They got the range of the sword-swing perfect. They got Link's running speed perfect. The mini-map on the bottom screen looks exactly like ALttP's but as you explore the overworld, you notice all these little changes. And the plot only takes 10 minutes to get started. It's everything I've wanted from a Zelda game for years.

What happened when I got to Lorule was completely unexpected, so I loved how they subverted some things. Also, I really like how each of the seven sages has an identity and you can sort of tell which OoT sages some of them descended from. It's a nice little touch.

So GOTY for me. And I'm pretty sure it's toppled Seasons as my favorite in the series.

I'd be a bit more forgiving of the CC if it didn't apply to the 3D-plain running (holding down R2 or whatever) as well. Most battles are just me trying to dodge and quickstep, which is a finnicky function at best. Vastly prefer TP.

But as I said, what they did with the titles and how the skills from them work is awesome, and I love the "sidequest RIGHT HERE come and get it!" icons. The game's still overall fun, I just don't really find the battle system anywhere near as enjoyable. Oh, and I really love how there's no world map and everything's pretty much set apart by roads and paths.

Stopped playing at the Rockgagong in the desert last week. Thanksgiving week at work has left me very little gaming time. lol But I take a lot more time to get through RPGs nowadays anyway. Hell, I love Xenoblade Chronicles, but I started that in freaking May and still only play it like, once every two weeks.

So I've been playing Graces f on and off for about a week and a half now. To whoever tried to warn me about the battle system, you were right. I hate this.

I do like what they did with the titles and how easy it is to spot a sidequest now though. Those were welcome improvements.

In a related note they NEED to do an HD Galaxy bundle. Those games glistened, even at Wii output levels.

With Nintendo's entry into HD gaming, I would not be opposed to a Galaxy 3. @_@
