If they've really made the dungeons more open and less "oh god, which room is this they all look the god damn same" then consider me a happy camper.

I think Graces suffered more in terms of "dungeon sameness" and walking corridors n such, but every so often there'd be some 'trick' or something to do.  Problem with Xillia dungeons is they're pretty big..... but there's also, literally, NOTHING TO DO IN THEM.  You walk.  And you walk.  You jump up a ledge.  Then open a door.

That's.  It.

There's also, I think, more towns than fucking dungeons.

Also, I read up some spoilers on Xillia 2 --- NO I WON'T EVER REVEAL ANYTHING ABOUT IT EVER -- But I think there was *way* more time and love put into that game's plot.

Ah, I haven't gotten to play Graces yet, so I wouldn't know. ^_^; I'll be tackling it before Xillia.

I'm replaying Abyss right now, and it's a lot of the Sephiroth dungeons that are looking samey to me. Though if memory serves me right, Symphonia and Legendia was a bit worse in the whole "every room looks the same" department. It's been like 7+ years since I've played either of those though.

I accidentally read one as Tales of Castrata. XD

You know, down the line I would not mind a canon crossover game. Not necessarily two separate casts meeting each other but like, say, Derris Kharlan suddenly flying past the Abyss world or Vesperia's world or something.

I vastly preferred Saints Row 2, but 3 was still pretty fun in its own right. I am glad they're bringing back the super powers from that Clones DLC; that was a freaking tease. I won't be buying it when it comes out though. One thing I saw happen with 3 is that a second version of it subtitled "The Full Package" came out months after it for half the price and with all the DLC included. I suspect the same type of thing will happen with SR4, so I'm waiting this time. GTA 5 can tide me over until then.

Since I won't be getting a PS3 until next month and therefore can't start Graces or Xillia, I decided to pick up Abyss for 3DS from Target. It had a price cut! :D

Not my favorite Tales game, but I do really like it and it'll be nice to play it again after so many years.

Well, at least I know I'm not alone. I was talking with a friend earlier and he suggested the same as you, to play until I get every party member. So I'll try that.

I love earthbound personally but I say there are waaaaaay too many stellar RPG's accessible nowadays to waste time on something you don't care for.

You're absolutely right. *Throws The Last Story into the garbage and puts in Xenoblade.* Topic is to old to revive, but yeah, TLS has been bumming me out too. XD

I played up to Threed. I tried guys, I really did. But I am not seeing why this game is so loved. This game's insanely tedious. I keep getting my ass kicked, and since they let you keep your levels and stuff, I've basically been strong-arming my way through the game. I knew the plot wouldn't be very deep at all, but I still expected something charming. Besides a few funny-looking enemies, and some random one-liners, there's almost nothing here. Each town's plot has been paper-thin, it took waaay too long just to get Paula (and she's level fucking one, wth?), it's usually unclear on what you need to do next, and it feels like there's hardly any strategy to the battles at all. The game really just seems to be famous for the mood whiplash of Giygas and his battle.

Pleeeeaaaase tell me this gets better. Because I've been anticipating finally getting around to playing this for a long time, and I really wanted to love this.

I've heard it isn't the Link from ALttP/OoS/OoS/LW, but it does take place where I hoped it would, oddly. XD Between LW and TLoZ1.

You could just pick the other character with a new game plus, yes? That's usually when I make a different choice in a game; when I get to play it again with extra bonuses.

Picked up Xillia this morning. But I won't be able to play it or Graces f until I buy a PS3 next month. Haven't touched the series since Vesperia in 2008 and I'm itching to hope back in.

Also, quick question about Symphonia's HD release coming out next year: are they revamping the battle system to include the whole "3D plain" thing that Abyss introduced. Because that was my favorite addition to the battle system.

Well, shit. Delete all the other topics; this is all we'll ever need.
102  Media / Miscellaneous Games / Re: Animal Crossing New Leaf Tomorrow... Anyone? on: July 19, 2013, 07:41:37 PM
I've been using the guide on Thonky to find the reals from the fakes. My real challenge with the game is some of the deep seas diving stuff. I can't seem to catch half the stuff. XD

This may very well be my favorite entry in the series, especially after how disappointing City Folk was. The amount of customization with the house and the town is great, and the way Main Street grows feels like actual progress is being made. Also, the new type of male villager? The sort of mellowed out, philosophical one? Hilarious. The one I have is a squirrel named Marshal and he constantly sends these letters with random musings. I think a lot of the dialogue in this game is more humorous than it's been in previous entries. I've even spotted some internet memes in there, like a "Seems Legit" choice when a villager is trying to sell you things. And when I visited a villager's house, they commented that they don't use their TV much because when they get into a show, it gets cancelled. I love that.

Christ it doesn't have to be a sequel, but why can't we get an Earthbound style game released in this day and age? Silly humor, modern day aspects, giant slime piles, an oddly alien yet benevolent race of strange beings who know everything and have a single word used as more of a gag than an actual term....damnit I want more Mr. Saturn!

There was Contact for DS, but I wasn't overly fond of that game.

Contact was riddled with flaws, but that ending really did leave me wanting a sequel to it. :\

Well then... I will think about it. *strokes beard thoughtfully*

Though I still want a Wii U. The Lego game actually looks pretty awesome, from what I've watched on YouTube.

Well that stinks. :/ Looks like I'm just missing out on these ones then.
