Thanks man. I'm way too impatient to have come up with that strategy. Boss is dead. And the first floor is back in "heat" mode so now it's a pain getting to where I need to go.

Any advice for getting to the back of the room in the third boss' room? You know, to ice stake his heat source or whatever. I have the little room to the left discovered already, if that helps. Also, is the special drop you get for killing it with fire attacks worth it?

Oh, and thanks for telling me about the respawns, Ashton. Coincidentally, right after you posted that was when FOEs started reappearing on my overworld map. nn;

Um... I killed all the Big Moths in Moth's Garden before taking on the RPGFan quest. Am I screwed? I mean, they aren't respawning. I think I ruined it for me. D:

I'm loving it more than the first three so far. Just beat the blood bear boss. I love the even that happens right after you beat it. It is a bit chilling.

Small question though: how do I drop stuff with the airship? I have that sidequest to drop off food for the soldiers in the Windy Plains, but I'm not sure how. The foodapult? What button do I press?

Also, how do I raise the altitude of the airship? Is that an ability for later?

EDIT: Nevermind, just found the drop option. Derp moment on my end.

Thanks for the heads up, guys. Gotta scan'em all, I guess. I still haven't finished EO1, let alone 2 and 3, but I might just hop into this one.

Just got my copy in the mail! And I'm so surprised that you guys have an exclusive quest. That's awesome!

I'm only on the second floor of the first game still, and I started that earlier this year. XD Succeeding feels like it takes forever.

Yeah, as much as I loved SPM, I've been itching to get back to the turn-based stuff. I'm a bit iffy on what I'm hearing about the battle system, but I want a new Paper Mario game darn it. They're my favorite series in the Marioverse. Will pick it up Thursday probably.

They... they couldn't fit the whole first trilogy onto a PS3 disc?

They can make more selling them piecemeal. Don't forget that each NES Megaman game came to PS1 individually in Japan, at least Trails in the Sky gives you plenty for, what, $45 or $50 worth of yen?

SCEA would likely take the other extreme and simply bare it from retail release at all and keep the PSN price down to $20 or something.

Well, I get that. XD Doesn't make it any less of a "huh? really?" moment for me.

Well, at any rate, it'd be cool if they did the whole series and XSeed could snag them. Would certainly add to the reasons for me to buy that new PS3 model.

Pretty much. I don't even want to play my copy of Vesperia anymore. Knowing how much is missing would just make it feel incomplete. But, I still know the basic story, and what's done is done, so I'd rather focus on the new stuff. I'm at least happy we got the "definitive" version of Graces.

This is fantastic news. I'm almost tempted to get a PS3 at this point. It's hard to believe that the last Tales game I played was almost 4 years ago already. XD

Yeah, I'm way too used to all the perks of the PC version to dive into this, though being able to play with way less lag would be nice.

I dunno, I always liked to think of Ben Franklin as incredibly vulgar for some reason. XD
105  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Is Zelda Skyward Sword really the best Zelda game ever? on: March 25, 2012, 11:44:17 PM
Anyway, Wind Waker was odd in that, at least one one level, it was one of the most open Zeldas. AFTER the awkward stealth bit, you really can sale to a fucklot of places (whether you have the patience for this is arguable, mind). There's just not much to find though. A bunch of generic floating orc platforms with... nothing. There's not even an interesting collectible sidequest. I LIKED finding skulltulas and gold bugs in OoT in TP. WW had butterfly medallions that didn't seem to serve a purpose?

I believe you had to get to Dragon Roost Island first to actually get the Wind Waker and the melody that controlled the wind's direction, and while you're there you might as well complete the dungeon to pick up the Grappling Hook so that you can actually do stuff beyond sailing around aimlessly.

And that was a problem I had with WW outside of the complete lack of difficulty. Exploration consisted mostly of sailing around. Once you got to an island you might be able to do a couple of things there (provided you're far enough into the game to have the dungeon items necessary to access or accomplish the task) and then you were done with it for the rest of the game. When I first went into that game I was hoping for a couple really large islands that you could sail to that made even the starting island feel small and isolated, and then it turned out that Outset was the biggest non-dungeon island in the game. Sure you get to visit Hyrule, but all that really consisted of was a Castle, a Tower, and the corridor in between.

Ugh. Yeah. I remember a few months before the game had come out, I had heard a rumor that Outset Island was one of the smallest islands in the game. What a shit rumor that turned out to be. If we ever got a land-overworld as big as that ocean, with a lot to explore in it, that would be the greatest Zelda ever.

One thing I also wish WW had kept was the fire and ice dungeons that had been relegated to small caves in the final version, and the dungeon to get the third pearl. I usually enjoy Zelda games more when they have at least 8 dungeons.
