They'd be even more like assholes if they had photos for avatars and in this thread. Oh wait you mean me... Shit. Again.

EDIT: Weeaboo

Yeah, D-Rider did mean me then.

My avatar is not my pic. Ginza was like the only good alternative to Suitengu, so I chose her instead. So now i'm part of the gender-bending anime avatar crowd. Shit.

Vexille was... okay. Next up, Jin-Roh: the Wolf Brigade.

It's 2009! This thread is seriously out of date!

Like Danny Boyle?  Then go see Slumdog Millionaire if you haven't already.
I did, and I was surprised I liked it. All his other films were kinda meh and contained lots of running, and this one had lots of running too but wasn't meh.

I'm not reading Twilight, honest... Yeah, it's vomit-inducing drivel, but at least it's not Eragon. See what books I'm reduced to without A Dance With Dragons?

Resident Evil: Degeneration - Shame it wasn't Zombies On A Plane... I loved a review on Amazon where somebody was saying there was better acting from the CG zombies than from anyone in the live-action movies.

Appleseed (2004) - The original's the same without CG right?
Chevalier d'Eon - the plot went mad, but not as mad as...
The Girl Who Leapt Through Time - Like Jumper, but with time travel and a girl nearly drowning in a bath - well, this is anime.

Finished Speed Grapher. The ending wasn't as crap as it could have been, although...
Code:
it was amusing that Saiga is only able to take Kagura's picture after he goes blind - that'll be his punishment for being a paedophile, then.

Speed Grapher eps 2-10
Code:
I'm not sure which would be worse for Saiga: getting captured and killed by Suitengu's lot, or getting captured by Ginza and becoming her sex slave. Hmm... have to think about that one...
Speed Grapher's still good, but so was Death Note after 10 episodes, so I dunno. But then Death Note didn't have Ginza, or a plot that made some sort of sense, or a female villain who nearly out-Cersei-Lannister-s Cersei Lannister (I hope that makes sense). But it's probably gonna get crap by the end of the next 14 episodes. :(

I also ordered Ergo Proxy vols. 1-6. I have to watch more cyberpunk anime cuz surely GitS can't be the best, right?...
12  Media / Anime, TV, and Movies / Recently Viewed Movies Episode 2: The Vampire Bites Back on: July 29, 2008, 09:50:41 AM
The Dark Knight - I think this is the best blockbuster movie I've ever seen, but maybe not the best superhero movie. The first two Spider-Man movies were better, but whatever. I don't think I'll watch any more films this summer now I've watched this, because they'll be terrible by comparison.

Edit:
Beowulf - The movie was actually quite good, but it was funny every time Ray Winstone said "monstah". And besides, it's okay to like this version, cuz Neil Gaiman did the screenplay.
13  Media / Anime, TV, and Movies / Recently Viewed Movies Episode 2: The Vampire Bites Back on: July 14, 2008, 04:10:41 AM
Hancock - This was good until
Code:
the girl turned out to be another superhero
, when it turned into more of a generic superhero movie.

Red Eye -
Code:
Assassin On A Plane
would be a better title. It wasn't a great film, and Brian Cox was underused, but Cillian Murphy was good at being a badass, the main actress was hot, and the script was okay, so I suppose it was alright then.

For a second, I thought Hidoshi just said don't watch the dub because he's a Japanophile, but he's not (that I know of.)

While he seems to love anime enough he never came off as really being that, especially in contrast to a few other people I've seen.
I used to post on an anime forum and it was full of Japanophiles who wouldn't go within 5 miles of a dub. One was pretentious enough to say the unedited non-dubbed version of the Naruto anime was closer to the author's vision, so it was better. Which could be true, but they probably couldn't understand japanese or actually know for certain. And several people thought you could learn Japanese from watching fansubs. :P

Anyway, I think I'll write about anime rather than anime fans now.

I watched an episode of Speed Grapher. I haven't seen anything that disturbing yet, but because it's Seinen and it actually is an 18, it'll probably get much worse. It seems exactly like every other "adult" anime I've seen (hero with troubled past, Motoko Kusanagi clone, corrupt government, secret societies) but at least it's vaguely interesting and it looks like someone's actually drawn it unlike Ergo Proxy or SAC. And it's not made by Production IG?!

A Feast For Crows
Starcross
Red Shift

AFFC was good, but not as good as ACOK or AGOT. Starcross was even more mad than Larklight:
Code:
Moob!
Red Shift made no sense even at the end. I think there was probably a sentence or two that explained everything, but I missed it. Never mind.
