I've found Amazon to be hit or miss in regards to that. Sometimes they'll cancel and sometimes they'll let me have it. I'm guessing that it depends on how many people discover it before they get it fixed. I've picked up $22 books for $2, a $90 set of Beethoven's piano sonatas for $15 and the God of War Saga for $15 last time.

...wait...so I am seriously now married to this girl?
Wow, I think we're talking about a VERY different end of the world here. I'm reminded of the first minute and thirty seconds of this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hD53pm2mTlg (NSFW) Wait, someone was actually tense?
According to a news report people actually went to the Mayan pyramids to go pray and such. Because clearly ground zero is the best place to be... Does make me wonder how many that seriously feared it had Mayan ancestry, or if there's actually enough crazy travelers from afar. Based on what I could tell from the videos shown many of those people were travelers. (Color me cynical but I doubt that many Mayan descendants in the area would have a gamer's tan and be quite literally indulging in 'ohm' meditation and singing kum-by-ya.)

Those having trouble with Jet Set Radio might find Jet Set Radio Future for the X-Box a bit more accessible. You can find it pretty cheap used, or at least, you used to be able to.

The credits to "The Fellowship of the Ring" are rolling as I type. I've not been Tolkien's biggest fan in the past -- I found the morality and too black and white and the characters a bit flat -- but I was a fan of his world-building and beautifully described environments (and Aragorn), and given the influence that LotR has had on fantasy novels and video games that I love I decided that I should grab the movies and watch them to prepare me for another run through of the book. I felt that at the very least I would enjoy the visual spectacle (there are few things I love more than the beauty of nature) and would also get a look into the visual influence of the movies on some recent games. I was pretty impressed, I must say. The visual splendor was there, the music was great, and it also - surprisingly - managed to pull at the right emotional strings when it wanted to. I look forward to seeing the next two some time soon.
By the way, sorry for the essay but writing this stuff out helps me clear out my head.

The problem is feminism has started to lean towards the bullshit Rebecca Watson type nonsense. Rebecca Watson as an individual actively disgusts me, as she flies first class on other peoples' dimes (something that 95% of the population will never experience in their lives), then has the gall to stand up on a stage and say how she's being oppressed.
I agree with being disgusted by her (hell, she gets herself and anyone at the bar drunk with other peoples' dimes, too), in particular since the whole Elevatorgate mess happened and she used that rather cynically to further her fame, but I will say that in the fallout I met plenty of reasonable feminists who actively argued against her. (Sadly, many of them were forced to post all of their arguments at the ERV blog, lest they be deleted from the blogs they had originally commented on, or worse, edited into straw men.) EDIT: On a lighter note, this analysis of RPG trends over ten years is pretty awesome. I wish he would have released more of the raw data, though, in particular a list of game names by genre and area of release or something along those lines.

Due to a money shortage I ended up waiting on the review for this one. Given the ridiculous amount of releases coming out early next year I'm glad I did. I'll put my money elsewhere.

According to a news report people actually went to the Mayan pyramids to go pray and such. Because clearly ground zero is the best place to be... I have a feeling the rest of the world is ending and Canada is just getting the rain from it... as usual..
I'm reminded of something my father told me about a town in far west Texas (the desert area) that we could have ended up moving to when I was a kid. "Remember when Noah's flood happened and the whole fucking world was filled up with water and shit? That place got about six inches of rain."

Feminism has been flanderized to the point where it's just the extremists running the show now. Most people who are actually pro-quality just call themselves egalitarians. Excellent term. That said, there are still some quality feminist thinkers around that label themselves as feminist. Unfortunately, the people who making a name for themselves are those like Zuska (of the blog Thus Spake Zuska) and Rebecca Watson and they do so by being ridiculous and being worshipped for it.

Hahahahaha
As a male with an interest in feminism of the sane variety I can feel your pain. This reminds me of some pseudo-feminist I saw on a message board claiming that missiles and swords are phallic-shaped as a sign of male domination.
If your dick is shaped like a sword you've got problems. Be reasonable, the point isn't to be accurate, it's to demonstrate THE OPPRESSSSION. Much like the whole 'skyscrapers = penis symbol' thing. About to head out to the company church service....I mean...Christmas party. I only say that because last year the owner spent a good amount of time talking about how we ALL will have to accept Christ in our lives at some point. We have no choice. Then he gave out gift cards, and made one of our sales reps sing "Go Tell it on the Mountain". I imagine a similar situation for this year. I hope the food is good, at least.
What a dick. Enjoy the food!

Well, after a semester in Women, Gender and Sexuality Studies course, I'm even more convinced that academic feminism is nothing short of sociopathy of the most demented and delusional kind. NO, THE GODDAMN 1-SECOND SCENE IN THE MOVIE INVOLVING A SKYSCRAPER IS NOT A METAPHOR FOR THE DICK DOMINATING THE EARTH, AND NO, U.S. NUCLEAR POLICY IS NOT A MALE RAPE FANTASY.
The cruel, subterranean anger that one can smell a mile away from these feminist literati just horrifies me.

Medic and Landsknecht class trailers. I'm really liking that the medic class combines healer and farmer/ranger/scavenger classes together and does so in a logical way. Definitely going to have one on my team. I also appreciate that you have a choice of fantasy-style/school girl or modern scientist/doctor look.

I've started Mass Effect (1) and I'm about six hours in. I'm really enjoying it. There are some really annoying elements (occasional frame rate hitches on PS3 version and CUT SCENES PRIOR TO A BATTLE THAT YOU CAN'T SKIP THROUGH IF YOU DIE) but they tend to be pretty rare. The classes and party members are interesting and so are the conversation options (good voice acting, too). I'm really liking the world, too, which is important in this kind of game. I've seen some critiques of the level design in the game by members here but I'm not far enough in yet to make any judgments. In any case, it seems like a pretty solid start to what is supposed to be a great series.
EOIII goes well, the second stratum did indeed have its own warp gate (thankfully, having to go down 20 + levels each time you wanted to hit a certain area near the end of the game would drive me nuts.) and I'm finding the pacing to be just about perfect. I hope EO IV maintains a similar difficulty level, but I'll get used to it if a bit more grinding is involved.

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO- Wait, I don't have a 3ds... NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Etrian Odyssey IV is coming out for 3DS as well, and of course the Devil Survivor remake was on 3DS - Atlus seems to like that system. I've never played Etrian Odyssey, but they look interesting enough. Not to mention SMT IV is coming to the 3DS. And the 3DS has backwards compatibility with older DS games. I still have Devil Survivor 2 that I can't play because of the lack of DS. I don't think buying my Vita was a mistake, but the sheer lack of Megami Tensei or any other RPGs is hurting. I mean sure we get P4G, but thats just a port of a game that we already had. Seems like an investment in a 3DS might be a good idea....that said, I missed P4 the first time around so I'll be picking up a Vita eventually. That aside the PSP is an RPG beast, so hopefully the Vita will pick up steam over time.
